I was unhappy when i saw that this episode was only 40ish minutes. But thank god its not longer than that. Because when you live the tension and fear with your favorite characters, it kind of feels like its you in that situation. Running for your life in a minute and be the predator in the next. Thats what makes Dexter a great show!

This is probably one of the best thing in 2021

Every episode is very solid, this episode was also very good to watch, it was a bit not suprising, but it felt very well made. I kinda knew how it would go, but it's a geteway to even better episodes.

An edge of the seat episode
aadhi44426 December 2021
We have been here before. In the earlier seasons of dexter we have been in similar situations, where dexter was so close to getting caught. But the stakes have never been higher. Earlier there was no emotional quotient to dexter. But now he has, in the form of his son.

Overall this episode again plays the build up game by raising the stakes. As a fan I really wish they provide a satisfying ending in the next two episodes.

I consider this an interlude.
asterblasterth26 December 2021
It wasn't the best episode but still enjoyable. To me this was more of an interlude to tie it all together, figure things out to get the characters in the right position and clear the way for a great finale. For me it was all a bit too predictable but again I'll forgive them for it if it leads up, which I think it will, to a great finale.

But other than that, like I said, still very enjoyable to watch.

Leaves you wondering
pjdickinson-2782226 December 2021
A clever episode designed to get Dexter and Harrison in the right place for the denouement to this story. It also leaves you wondering how our hero is going to get out of the situation he's in. The net is closing in in this expertly woven return look at the Dexter saga. I'm very much looking forward to the final stretch.

"Just want to check one more thing."

Warning: Spoilers
Man, I love this show. I didn't realize just how much I missed Dexter, but this season is reminding me that I really do adore it. The Angela stuff was really good, and felt like a natural extension of how she would react to the information about Dexter she has received. Dexter running away from this "hillbilly" proved to be engaging. Everything with Kurt taking advantage of Harrison, who is just a naive and neglected kid, made me physically uncomfortable (in a good way). He's just so manipulative and phony in a way that feels quite true to people I've met in real life, except here we see him using these tactics on Harrison in some difficult to watch (but really well handled) scenes. The ending of this one was incredible tense, and I genuinely believed Harrison was going to die for a bit there. I didn't realize how much I cared about him, but that scene was tense as hell. And the final note of Dexter and Harrison connecting, paired alongside Angela learning more about Dexter's Dark Passenger, is the perfect end to an episode which encapsulates what Dexter is as a show. I doubt it will end happily for my favorite serial killer, but I can't wait to see where it all goes in the final two episodes.

I sense a very sharp knife tonight in a closed room.
mrmarckline28 December 2021
Dexter needs to stab someone especially after getting shot in his leg , making him run in the freezing cold weather. I bet he misses Miami :)

Kurt making a great impression on Harrison , venison and scotch then hunt him down after taking him to batting practice , such a cool dude.

Good news everyone Debra was also in the freezing cold warning Dexter that she also misses Miami :)

Some police work was in this episode .

Finally Dexter finds a knife and yes he gets his second kill using a knife in this series , so everyone out there keeping count he has 3 kills , 2 knives and a mercy kill by way of drugs yippy.

For crying out loud Dexter

Warning: Spoilers
Literally , This could give run for money to current top tier web shows . The season holding on to Dexter's personal dilemma solved in a most old school tv climatic way , which is to me a guy just 24 year's old is pure beautiful . Kurt's face looks a guy who's going to make Harrison pay & the guy chasing Dexter wasn't a plain dumb . The cinematography is as usual way above par & same goes in for pace , perfectly portraying tensed moments . Some minor plotholes were present like kurt is a smart guy as we know but he didn't checked his device ;how? Why? Yeah he got busy with Dex jr. But letting your guard down at this crucial moment is simple dumb & Using ketamine instead of m99 ; all though Dexter sometimes used ketamine just to knock bad guys (not victims) out in earlier seasons but u know what? I ll let it pass ..

Kudos everyone.

& Anyone who thinks a tv show's episode longing 43 minutes can be better than this can make the next season.

I just want that to be in this show , that's all.

Great episode

Warning: Spoilers
I don't know why some people are constantly looking for flaws in the series. This episode was truly amazing, and the Dexter-Harrison hug in the end was heart-melting... It's hard to wait for the next episodes. So please just stop nagging it's getting kinda boring.

In response to the guy who said Dexter used M99 not ketamine, I must say that he also used a horse tranquilizer which contains ketamine. Google: What is horse tranquilizer made of.

We're talking about my son. There's nothing more personal than that ... maybe this is all I ever wanted, too.
Shadowboy_25cm28 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Ten years have passed, fans were unsatisfied with the final 8th season of "Dexter" and Showtime understood that some adjustments had to be done, but also, that there are still a fanbase and interrest in this show.

Now, Dexter is back, episode 8 and now we're getting there were we always wanted to get in this episode that felt as an interlude and a little relief for more intense and dramatic things to come.

This is a really cleverly woven episode with two main story lines and a minor small one that might develop like a slow burn to a more dramatic plot point in this show.

The chemistry between Kurt and Harrison is great and shows the complexity of these two characters in some very touching and intense scenes: Kurt as the anti father figure, Harison as the lost son and Dexter as the father who fights with everything he has to save his life and his son.

Great touching and emotional ending of this episode.

Two more are to come. Still hooked.

Highly recommended.

Things getting perfect
ahmadmherat-9304526 December 2021
What I like about dexter he's always escape from everything no matter how far he thinks he got, and he still has the same expressions on his face when he put himself in troubles, and Clancy Brown he's a big plus to this season I think no one can plays this KERT as he's doing (best actor for this character) gotta say he still scares me like the first time I saw him in Shawshank redemption.

This writing is soo lazy...
jkg2326 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I didn't mind any of it too much so far. All these things with Batista mentioning Dex and Deb's names out of completely nowhere to a stranger, Harrison telling Audrey Jim's name is not really Jim, Molly with the greatest memory in the world etc. I just didnt mind. I thought it's meh... but whatever, atleast they are connecting the dots.

But c'mon this ketamine thing Angela connected to Dexter being the BHB is just the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen.

The story is good, and they are heading in the right direction, but seriously writing is absolutely awful in this revival. It feels like it's written by an amateur.

Sherlock of north
alfaromeo15615728 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Clumsy vs clumsier serial killer. Angela is solving the bay harbour butcher case with google search!? She writes ketamin and click i feel lucky :) She is the Sherlock of north. Clumsy killer Kurt could not kill his 2 nd victim on a row. How did he survive to this age with stupidity as living neighborhood with Sherlock? It is badly scripted. Insult to the original Dexter series.

Another great episode.
vpop-7019826 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Everything with the ketamine and Angela thing is pretty explainable. If you looked up some type of drug+ Miami homicide you would find similar results. The BHB is a huge serial killer. If you look up " biting Tallahassee murders " on Google you'll find posts about Ted Bundy.

The episode was good. But one thing I didn't understand, how Angela found connection between Dexter and Bay Harbor butcher. Search ketamine Miami homicide and then booooom!!!! It doesn't make a sense at all.

Best episode so far I can't wait to see the next and last episode, a strong return to the series after the failure of the previous season. Dexter deserves to be one of the best series of all time.

Dexter Darkly Dreaming
coleektorrd26 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Kurt's scheme unfolds.

While tied up in the back seat of Kurt's henchman's truck, Dexter is Darkly dreaming of Harrison becoming a mad cold-hearted killer.

He manages to escape which forces a cat and mouse game between him and the henchman, which, of course, with his lizard brain, Dexter becomes the cat.

Meanwhile, Kurt works to gain Harrison's trust, first taking him to the closed high school, showing off his sons three Awards, and teaching him how to hit a baseball with the baseball machine in the gym, then inviting him to his Cabin in the Woods for some venison and single malt scotch.

Dexter learned of his location by overhearing the henchman talk to Kurt on the phone before he Broke Free of his binded hands, put the rope in the henchman's mouth from behind forcing him to pull the truck over to a stop, crashing into a pole sideways.

After killing the henchman with a knife he found in the camp kitchen, he went back to the truck and headed out to the cabin, desperately trying to text Harrison to get out.

Meanwhile, Angela is gaining Clues into Dexter's past and recent activities with the drug dealers.

After the meal, Kurt leaves the table, telling Harrison that he has to do something. He comes back with his killing outfit, the complete face covering white ski mask, his jacket and rifle, ordering Harrison to get up and get out. Harrison is begging him to tell him what he did wrong. Outside the cabin Kurt orders Harrison to run. As he's running he holds up the rifle and we see the red laser dot on Harrison's back. Suddenly we hear horn honking and see High Beam lights approaching from the truck Dexter's driving, barreling towards Kurt, who thinks it's his henchman bringing Jim to witness him killing his son.

When he recognizes its Jim driving the truck, Kurt tries to shoot him, thereby taking his attention off of Harrison. Dexter almost hits Kurt with the truck causing him to drop the rifle and run.

On the way home Dexter tells Harrison he never has to feel alone with his dark thoughts and confesses that he too was born in blood. And that he too had those same dark thoughts when he was Harrison's age but he had a father to teach him how to deal with it and taught him the code and vowed to do the same for Harrison. Harrison instantly leaned over the bench seat of the truck and hugged Dexter tightly putting his head on his shoulder. First being taken aback by this action, Dexter then welcomed it and leaned his head on Harrison's. They finally bonded. James bonded.

Great for Dexter Fans
sparkyvolts27 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Extremely Great Episode!! Michael C. Hall should win another award for this season, I don't know how loud you had your tv but the way he was breathing while he was texting back Kurt, to tell him that all is good he's on his way, was so realistic being in the moment like that of killing that dude and then trying to get to his Boy! That episode was just phenomenal!! I don't know if there gonna keep this Elite Character going but it's only 10 hours of programing every year on a 24 hour channel. They could easily find one hour a week for 10 weeks to fill a spot. Especially with it's still huge fanbase!! Clyde Phillips is Genius!

Perfect pace and writing, every character is portrayed as capable in his craft, dexter, dexter's gf, kurt and his hired gun. And finally they toned down the teenage drama.

Pointless episode
eunbi053026 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The episode starts of well with Jim countering his kidnapper, but I wouldn't have his kidnapper as someone that takes safe driving seriously (ie wearing a seatbelt). So when they crash and Jim is defenestrated seeing the driver mostly unharmed felt like they really wanted to only stall Dexter for most of the episode.

Also, Dexter got shot by a rifle and keep running from afternoon until the moon was out bleeding all over the place?

Cut to Harrison, who probably wants to vent with someone and he gets jealous when he sees Audrey is shopping for trees with that jockey, why though? Why wouldn't he walk to and talk to her? They had sex, he shared some things about him and she seemed understanding that they were both the "same", why now would he stop in his time of need and reach out for her help? Also, when Kurt says he has a surprise for him, why does it sound like Harrison is like a kid accepting candies from a stranger? Not to talk how after the "people are forgiving this time of the year" he didn't notice how aggressive Kurt was, there are literally arguments in EVERY episode for how not street smart Harrison is, despite the writers now and then tried to force us to believe that.

The way Logan talks to Angela leading her to investigate Miles about Jim's attack was done smoothly, however, this is episode 8, the attack happened at episode 5 and it is clear that a few days have gone past, why would that dude still have any marks of the needle? Not only that, from the whole adrenaline of the moment, how was he able to notice a needle being inserted right after he was jumped by Jim? In season 1, "Return to Sender", Dexter mention how those needle marks aren't noticeable, but for an attentive eye, they even make a mention that no one in the forensics team, but Masuka, was able to notice that.

Finally, Angela literally googles "miami homicide ketamine" and basis her inkling on that? Jeez... I apologise for comparing Angela to Debra, specially when you consider that Dexter didn't use Ketamine when he was the BHB, he used M99 (etorphine).

Dexter goes for a walk in the snow
cokeeffee30 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Very boring episode in which very little of substance happens until the end. Seemed as though the writers needed to stretch out the series a bit so had Dexter wander around in the woods for 40 minutes.

And the cop... wow, she solved the bay harbour butcher case that tots flummoxed Miami PD in 10 minutes by using google.

Come on! You can do better.

Sets up for a great and cathartic finale!
mindyourjedibusiness28 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Phenomenal acting from Michael C. Hall that portrays the urgency of getting himself and his son out of sticky situations. The intensity of acting reminds me of his portrayal of Dexter Morgan we saw in seasons leading up to Season 4. The tension, the constant fear of the predator being turned into the prey was something that just jumped out of the screen.

The only minor qualm I have with this episode is the part where Angela just stumbles over the news coverage over Bay Harbor Butcher. That part felt a bit rushed because any search query as vague as the one shown could give you hundreds of results and the one she was looking for would be buried at the bottom somewhere.

Other than that, it was a solid episode and waiting forward for the next one!
