Krug Conquers England (2003)

** 1/2 (out of 4)

Twenty-five minute documentary about the LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT premiere in England, which took place in 2000 and was actually the first time the film had been shown legally. David Hess, Gunnar Hansen and Blue Underground worker Carl Daft are among the people interviewed. I think a good documentary could have been made on this first public screening of the film but sadly everything we hear are pretty much stories we've heard before. Hess talks about the making of the film as well as his opinions on the censorship it has gone under in Britain. Daft talks more about trying to get the film a screening and why he felt that the movie would never be released to video in an uncut form. Hansen, who was there showing THE Texas CHAINSAW MASSACRE, gives his opinions on banning films and why it just doesn't work. All of this is mildly interesting to a LAST HOUSE fan but at the same time you can't help but wish they had done a little bit more on the actual screening and how people took the film nearly thirty-years after first being made. This is included on the Region 2 Anchor Bay release.
