- A young jazz musician, whose father is a strict clergyman, was beaten to death with a bottle in 1970. The investigation is reopened at the request of the son of the victim. Meanwhile, an unexpected person comes to meet Rush.
- The story starts in 1970, where we see a young guy playing an organ for his father's congregation, and the man's father happens to be the minister. We see he likes to put a little soul into the music, but his father doesn't approve, but the organist knows he has a little something extra in his music playing. The young man is found dead of a head injury in an alley, and no witnesses coming forward, so the case goes cold. Fast forward to 2009 where the deceased's son is trying to help his own son complete the family tree, but has been told by his deceased mother years ago his father was drunk and a bum. He comes to the station to ask Rush and the team to see if they can find out what happened almost forty years ago. Upon opening the old file, Jefferies noticed an old playing card. It's a card which gained admission for what was then the hottest spot in town for only the best jazz musicians, and believes this dead man was not the bum he was assumed to be.
