Ariana Grande has built such a mighty pop legacy over the past decade as one of the most consistently kicky hitmakers around — but also as one of the weirdest minds in the game. “Yes, And?” is her Number One comeback, a disco rage-queen anthem that raises expectations for her long-awaited return, Eternal Sunshine. It’s a brilliantly nasty manifesto to kick off the new Ariana era. She’s just hit her thirties, wrapping up her Saturn return, and she’s making music after a four-year layoff. But she’s got...

U2 singer Bono paid tribute Saturday night to recently deceased Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny during his concert at The Sphere in Las Vegas. The frontman got the crowd to chant Navalny’s name as a memorial to the dissident’s struggle against the Russian establishment.
In a long preamble to a cover rendition of Crowded House’s Don’t Dream It’s Over, Bono spoke of the struggle for freedom and the importance of standing up for it. His remarks on Navalny start at the 2:35 mark in the video above.
“Next week it’ll be two years since Putin invaded and tried to destroy the hard-won freedoms” of the Ukrainian people, Bono said. “Next, it’ll be Poland, next it’ll be Lithuania, East Germany; who knows where this man will or won’t go. To these people, freedom is not just a word in a song. For...

Margot Robbie’s role in Martin Scorsese’s The Wolf of Wall Street really goes to show her unparalleled ability to command the screen in a way only she can. But if fans were to revisit the role and delve into its history and things that went behind the scenes, it’s intriguing to note that Don’t Worry Darling star Olivia Wilde, once revealed that she too competed for the same role.
Shockingly, Wilde was indeed in contention before being deemed “too old” for the part, leaving her with a deep yearning for what could have been. Despite her desire, losing the role to Robbie did not create ill feelings between the two, since Wilde claimed she completely detached herself from the character emotionally. However, everything ultimately worked out, as Scorsese later booked Wilde for his drama series Vinyl.

Exclusive: L.A. filmmaker Jacqueline Elyse Rosenthal has won the first edition of Stage 32 and Catalyst Studios’ Empowering Women Script Competition for her social impact film Backlog.
The drama is inspired by the real-life U.S. Senate Hearing to end the national backlog of millions of untested rape kits.

Rosenthal will receive a $5,000 option and be eligible for up to $3 Million in financing for the film from Catalyst Studios.
She will also be mentored by outgoing Berlinale Managing Director Mariette Rissenbeek, who will be taking on some development and production projects following her departure from the festival at the end of this year’s edition.

New month, new recommendations from Deep Cuts Rising. The second installment of 2024 features selections reflecting holidays, events or traditions of February.
Regardless of how they came to be here, or what they’re about, these past movies can generally be considered overlooked, forgotten or unknown.
This month’s horror offerings include reincarnation, vampires and more.
The Reincarnation of Peter Proud (1975)
Pictured: Michael Sarrazin and Jennifer O’Neill in The Reincarnation of Peter Proud.
Directed by J. Lee Thompson.
Author Max Ehrlich handled the screenplay for his own novel’s adaptation. Despite its quirky title, though, this movie is a rather surreal and sad, not to mention unpredictable viewing experience. The obsession with metaphysical matters seeped into ’70s cinema, and this trippy psycho-horror gem, one directed by J. Lee Thompson, is a valid reflection of that bygone trend.

Britney Spears’ bombshell memoir The Woman in Me arrived in October with damning revelations about everything from her 13-year conservatorship to her complicated relationship with ex-boyfriend Justin Timberlake. Though incomplete in some senses, the 275-page book was the most comprehensive overlook into the moments that she had previously kept locked away. Readers clamored for those details when it arrived, but Spears has been grappling with its ramifications ever since.
“I wanna apologize for some of the things I wrote about in my book,” the singer wrote on Instagram on Sunday evening.

The track opens with meditative, brooding synths (“I still remember the first time you said you loved me/Texting me at 2am from across the country”) before the tempo picks up and evolves into euphoric, blissed-out acceptance (“I’m hanging onto the sunshine”), making for one of the most laidback breakup songs of the year.

Is it just me, or is this a particularly tough year to pick nominees in the buzziest of the 23 categories for the Academy Awards? This will be the 96th time they do the Oscars, and it never gets easier. Even the most experienced awards handicapper has only a slight advantage over the greenest neophyte, because at the end of the day we’re all still just guessing. And you know there will be surprises and snubs aplenty, because how could there not?

Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour Brings $1 Billion Revenue Is Greater Than Beyonce’s Renaissance and Bruce Springsteen’s World Tours Combined ( Photo Credit – IMDb )
Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour has created history, generating a revenue of more than $1 billion. It is now officially the highest-grossing musical tour ever, beating Sir Elton John’s five-year Farewell tour – Farewell Yellow Brick Road. The musical genius generated a revenue of $939+ million with his tour.
Interestingly, while Sir Elton John has accumulated this number over 330 shows from 2018 – 2023, Tay has achieved the unthinkable with just 60 shows in 2023. However, the tour will continue till December 2024.
The Eras Tour is Taylor Swift‘s sixth concert tour, which is a tribute to her musical eras. It has songs from her albums and runs for 3.5 hours, where 44 songs are divided into 10 acts to showcase Tay’s musical journey. The tour started in March 2023 and will end in December 2024 in Vancouver.

Not many horror films truly scare me these days. But alien horror? Even the ones substandard to most send me into a fear frenzy. That’s why I’m taking a deep dive into the sub-genre.
Welcome to Aliens Scare Me. A look into alien horror films on a case by case basis.
This month we check out 2014’s Vicious Brothers (Grave Encounters) film, Extraterrestrial.
What It’s About
A group of friends head out into the country for the weekend to stay at a cabin in the woods (because that always goes so well) in an area recently dealing with mysterious circumstances such as missing persons and cattle mutilation. While drunk and arguing, they witness a UFO crash nearby. Upon investigating, they notice footprints leading right back to their cabin. The group, a Sheriff (Gil Bellows) looking for his missing wife, and a pot growing, tin foil hat wearing...

Drake’s latest project, Scary Hours 3, is littered with pointed references to his usual rivals, but the rapper also takes a moment to tip his hat to Taylor Swift on the opening track, “Red Button.”
After boasting about being “the most decorated” rapper and decimating the competition on the Billboard charts, Drake admits Swift is the only artist who would prompt him to push back an album release date.
“Taylor Swift the only n**** that I ever rated,” he raps. “Only one could make me drop the album just a little later/ Rest of y’all, I treat you like you never made it.”
Drake and Swift have shared some form of friendship for over a decade. In April 2022, Drake caused speculation that they could be recording a collaboration after posting a photo on Instagram of him in an embrace with Swift. As it turns out, the flick was actually...

The 33-year-old singer is getting ready to continue the South American leg of the tour and you might be wondering what songs are remaining.
Taylor made a rule that she’s allowed to repeat songs if she messes them up the first time or if they’re from Midnights, her most recent studio album.
It’s unclear if Taylor is going to continue these rules for the remainder of the tour as she’ll likely reach the point where she has no more songs left to perform!

André 3000 has announced the release of his long-awaited debut album, New Blue Sun, which will arrive on November 17th.
Right up front, however the OutKast rapper warns fans that the album is not a rap record. The cover artwork says as much, as it includes a label warning that the album contains “no bars.” Instead, according to NPR Music, New Blue Sun is an 87-minute collection of minimalist and experimental music featuring André 3000 playing a variety of flutes and other wind instruments. There are no bars, no beats, no vocals.
“I don’t want to troll people. I don’t want people to think, Oh, this André 3000 album is coming! And you play it and like, ‘Oh man, no verses,’ André 3000 said in an interview with NPR. “So even actually on the packaging, you’ll see it says, ‘Warning: no bars.’ It’s letting you know what it is off the top.

Taylor Swift's "Reputation," released in 2017, is kind of two albums put together. On one half of the album, she takes swipes at people who betrayed her and proves, as she sings on "Look What You Made Me Do," that the "old Taylor" is "dead." On the other half, Swift sings about her early days of love with then-boyfriend Joe Alwyn (the pair split earlier in 2023). One of the songs in the second, romantic half is titled "Dress," and it's one of Swift's most sensual tracks. She sings on the chorus, "Say my name and everything just stops. / I don't want you like a best friend. / Only bought this dress so you could take it off."
Back when the song was released, and in part because of the "best friend" reference, some fans originally thought the song was about Swift's friend Ed Sheeran, but he clarified that it definitely wasn't...

The Bear creator Christopher Storer has lined up his next show for FX.
Storer and the John Landgraf-led network have landed rights to Sarah Harman’s upcoming book All the Other Mothers Hate Me following a massive bidding war. After years of turmoil, including drummer Travis Barker’s 2008 plane crash, singer-bassist Mark Hoppus’s successful battle with cancer, and the departure (and recent return) of singer-guitarist Tom DeLonge, Blink-182 takes what feels like a victory lap on One More Time… The first single, “Edging,” is a pop-punk stomper that, at least superficially, bears all of the Blink hallmarks. But the rest of the singles have been a mixed bag: The über-schmaltzy title track reflects on the group members’ friendship with rather prosaic lyrics—“Do I have to die to hear you miss me?”—while the fiery “More Than You Know” channels post-hardcore while also making reference to the tragedy that frequently surrounds the band.
This dynamic is indicative of the album as a whole: For every triumphant return to form, there’s an uninspired dud. On the opening “Anthem Part 3,” Blink-182’s renewed energy is immediately palpable. Two songs later,...

This week’s highly anticipated Rick and Morty season 7 premiere, “How Poopy Got His Poop Back,” saw the return of fan-favorite characters Mr. Poopybutthole, Birdperson, Gearhead, and Squanchy, as they try to stage an intervention and inadvertently get riggity-riggity-wrecked with Hugh Jackman. Not a person impersonating Hugh Jackman like they did Ice T in the early seasons, but The Hugh Jackman as a fictionalized version of himself, depicted as a frat boy party animal. In every circumstance, this would be a hysterical cameo if not for the fact that the Wolverine actor has been getting his claws into adult animation for the past several years. Jackman has wholly gotten into his silly voice-acting bag, and I’m here for it.

Exclusive: Quiver Distribution has acquired North American rights to Willie and Me, a comedy marking the feature directorial debut of L.A.-based German actress Eva Hassmann, who stars opposite 12-time Grammy winner Willie Nelson and the late Peter Bogdanovich. Marking the latter’s final screen performance, the film written by Hassmann is slated for release in theaters and on demand on February 9, 2024.
Pic tells the story of Greta Weingarten (Hassmann), a housewife trapped in a stagnant marriage. One evening while serving dinner to her successful but bland husband, Greta hears a radio announcement about Willie Nelson’s farewell concert, and through his music, she’s transported back to her disjointed childhood. Greta is suddenly overwhelmed by the need to see Nelson and will do whatever it takes to be at his last concert in Las Vegas. She takes off on her journey, leaving behind the husband and comfortable life she knows.

With Water Made Us, Jamila Woods takes us on a radically honest journey through the complexities of love. The opening track, “Bugs,” is a patient slow burn about not letting the little things hinder one’s love for their partner. “It bugs me, but I do it for ya,” the Chicago-based singer-songwriter admits during the chorus. That selfless sentiment defines the album’s identity early on, with “Bugs” ending with a broader evocation of embracing the world’s imperfections: “Don’t kill this bug/Slide a little paper under this glass/Let a few bugs live.”
