For three years, Ellen has separated herself from Patty Hewes. She has now gotten into a case against High Star, a civilian organization that fights in war settings, like Afghanistan. They are fighting for funding from the federal government and Congress is dragging its feet. John Goodman (Erickson) is a hard core military man who speaks for High Star. He is in difficult straits because he is starting to be seen as a liability. Ellen has an ex-high school friend who survived a slaughter of his men, working for High Star. They probably had been engaging in illegal actions. He is suffering from PTSD and needs help. However, he is now a pawn in the game because there is one man who is orchestrating everything at any cost. Ellen wants Chris (her friend) to testify or she will subpoena him.
