Dragon Ball has given Goku many epic transformations over the years. Dragon Ball Super has also witnessed many such forms. But one form in particular might not be Akira Toriyama’s original idea, because something extremely similar was predicted in a fan-made doujinshi.
Toyotarou, the illustrator of Dragon Ball Super can be called the luckiest fan alive. Why? Because not only is he the illustrator of Dragon Ball Super but one of his unofficial doujinshi could have inspired a Dragon Ball ritual.

Dragon Ball has received 20+ theatrical films, some more popular than others. Akira Toriyama is sometimes deeply involved with the production of the films. He even writes the plots for some of the theatrical releases.
One such movie Toriyama has worked on extensively is Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods. Other than this, Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection ‘F’ and Dragon Ball Super: Brolly also received heavy involvement from the author.
In a 2013 interview, Akira Toriyama talked at length about the Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods movie.

Goku’s status as an all-time absent father in Dragon Ball is no surprise. He is far more interested in battles than he is in his marriage and children. In fact, Chi Chi ended up nourishing their children alone most of the times.
On the other hand, Vegeta adores and respects Bulma and develops puppy eyes for his wife and children. Thus, a fan theory suggests that Chi Chi might not have been faithful in her relationship, and had a child with the other Saiyan in the story.
Goku and Chi-Chi had an Unhappy Marriage in Dragon Ball
It is a well-known fact that while Goku is a stellar fighter, he is not the best husband. In fact, he might be the worst person to marry. Goku and Chi Chi are rarely seen enjoying their married life in Dragon Ball. Even when they are together, they bicker due to Goku’s lack of responsibility.

Akira Toriyama’s Dragon Ball is a series that has left a much greater legacy than any anime or manga series. The series became a fan favorite when it was aired for the first time on television, and the series only grows in popularity as time continues to move on. To keep up with its popularity, the franchise the non-canon Super Dragon Ball Heroes was an interesting addition to the several series, movies, and video games in the franchise.

The Dragon Ball franchise has given the fans several memorable moments. But the most iconic of all remains when Goku transformed into Super Saiyan for the first time against Frieza. Goku was consumed by rage after the latter killed Krillin in front of him. Since then, there has been no stopping for the transformation, with the latest one being the Ultra Instinct in Dragon Ball Super.
Dragon Ball had a Martial Arts theme, and after the Frieza Saga, it started to focus more on the transformation. But there is a flaw in the Dragon Ball timeline, which was missed by most of the fans. Even before the Super Saiyan transformation, there was a ‘False Super Saiyan’ form, which was featured in Dragon Ball Z: Lord Slug film.

Akira Toriyama has created Super Saiyan versions in every color of the rainbow and more. So, of course, there are transformations serving all kinds of purposes, be it speed, strength, or fusion in Dragon Ball.
With so many Super Saiyan versions available, it is only natural that some of them would follow trends set by other superheroes. This time, the comparison is between Super Saiyan Rage and Marvel’s Hulk.
Similarities Between Super Saiyan Rage in Dragon Ball and Hulk Hulk | Marvel Wiki
Super Saiyan Rage, like its name, was achieved when Future Trunks felt unbelievable anger during the Future Trunks Saga in Dragon Ball. Marvel’s Hulk is also famous for being triggered by rage. While Bruce Banner learned to control the transformation over the years, the main ingredient to Hulk is still anger. Thus, the famous quote:
“I’m always angry.”

The late Manga creator Akira Toriyama was unhappy with Hollywood after the industry ruined the loosely based live-action adaptation of his most famous work, Dragon Ball. It was Toriyama’s work that made the anime genre popular in the West. Toriyama, like any other Dragon Ball fan, had criticized the 2009 film starring Justin Chatwin and Emmy Rossum, Dragon Ball: Evolution.

Toriyama passed away on March 1, 2024, due to acute subdural hematoma. In a statement released by Bird Studio, the studio that he founded, they expressed their gratitude to fans who supported his work for over 45 years. Toriyama’s death was confirmed by the official “Dragon Ball” website, which posted a statement honoring the creator on Thursday evening.
“It’s our deep regret that he still had several works in the middle of creation with great enthusiasm. Also, he would have many more things to achieve,” reads the statement from Bird Studio, which includes the disclaimer that it has been machine-translated. “He has left many manga titles and works of art to this world. A cavalcade of creatures from Japanese folklore come alive in “The Great Yokai War: Guardian,” a hugely enjoyable fantasy-adventure directed by the famously prolific and supremely versatile Takashi Miike. Starring amazingly talented child actors Kokoro Terada and Rei Inomata as brothers summonsed by peace-loving spirits to stop an angry demon from engaging in the time-honored Japanese monster movie tradition of destroying Tokyo, this smashing piece of young-adult entertainment should be a big hit in Japan, where it’s sure to get plenty of love from older adults as well. With its standout visuals and uplifting messages about trust, friendship and acceptance, “Guardians” should attract the interest of specialized overseas distributors following its international premiere as the closing-night attraction of Fantasia 2021.
Miike is most closely associated with extremely violent crime stories such as “Audition” and blood-soaked costume action-thrillers like “Blade of the Immortal.” Less well known outside Japan are his family-friendly hits such as “Ninja Kids!

It's been seventeen years for us, but only months for the 'Dragon Ball Z' cast. Which, if you know anything about the formatting of this soap opera for tweens, seems right on schedule. 'DragonBall Z: Battle of the Gods' picks up right where we left off. If you haven't recently binge-watched the show (because really who has time to watch Goku shout 'Kamehameha!!!' while charging up his lasers for six hours these days?) when we last left our heroes, they'd just defeated Majin Buu. Destroying such a worthy foe summons this giant hairless cat named Beerus from his slumber. Because cats are assholes, Beerus wants to destroy Earth in order to provoke Goku into joining him in glorious battle…and I assume thus alleviate his boredom. Basically Beerus is treating the Z-fighters with all the respect my cat gives a hair tie he found under the fridge.

A bunch of new trailers have landed over the past day or so for all sorts of upcoming smaller films, but with a lot of them starring big names. The most high-profile would be "The Judge" which sees Robert Downey Jr. returning to drama for the story of a slick city lawyer who returns to his hometown after his mother's death and ends up having to defend his estranged father from being convicted for her apparent murder.
Tom Hardy stars in "The Drop" as a Brooklyn bartender who gets caught up in a robbery investigation that digs deep into his neighborhood's past. Noomi Rapace, James Frecheville and Matthias Schoenaerts also star, as does the late James Gandolfini in his final performance.

Set for release in 2015 is a live-action feature film based on Araki Tetsuro's anime series Attack on Titan, which is all about something we love here on Dread Central: man-eating giants!
Though principal photography hasn't yet begun on the film, the folks over at Anime News Network just brought a pretty awesome video to our attention, which teases the destruction that's on its way.
It seems that the film's director, Shinji Higuchi, recently made a Japanese commercial for Subaru, which features live-action versions of characters from Attack on Titan. The commercial debuted last night, and in it a Forester is attacked by the massive Titans.
Though the characters may not end up looking the way they do in the commercial, it's a fun little glimpse into the future and should hold you over until we've got more to show. Check out footage from the commercial shoot below!

Dragon Ball Z: Battle Of Gods is a really fun entry in Toriyama Akira's beloved universe that's just not up there with the most memorable ones. It manages to capture the absurdist essence of Dragon Ball very well, but disappoints in the other important regard. If you don't expect one epic Dragon Ball Z confrontation like those you grew up with, say Goku vs. Freeza or Gohan vs. Cell, you shouldn't end up dissatisfied with it. However, the premise (as well as the title with "battle" in it) speaks to both fans and newcomers equally: Goku is about to protect planet Earth once again as the threatening God of destruction Bills (aka Birusu) wakes up. Everything leads to this face-to-face duel so one should expect epic...

In a rather odd turn of events, we wound up taking what was a completely dry week in terms of topical content – no big news, games, or movies broke in the past seven days – and wound up recording one of our longest podcasts ever! Talk about overcompensating.
With Grand Theft Auto V arriving tomorrow, we decided it would be appropriate to look back not just at prior titles in the franchise, but also at other recent Rockstar games we love.
