Madonna and Michael Jackson will always be the King and Queen of Pop, regardless of what thoughtless clickbait articles say. Madonna revealed that she didn’t write songs the way that the “Thriller” singer did. She said doing so would be bad for her mental health. Interestingly, Madonna explained what goes through her mind when she writes tunes.
Madonna would hate to work on songs as long as Michael Jackson did
During a 1991 interview with Rolling Stone, the “Like a Virgin” singer discussed what happened when she learned to play guitar. “I started writing immediately,” she said. “For a couple years I practiced the guitar two hours a day and the drums four hours a day. But as I got more involved in the things you have to do to make records and videos and go on tour, I just stopped playing.”
Madonna was asked if she was able to write songs in 15 minutes.

With the 2024 Tony Awards a few weeks away and the record-breaking Broadway run of “Merrily We Roll Along” coming to a close in a little over a month, three-time Tony nominee Jonathan Groff is looking back on the roles that shaped this first stage in his career. In an interview in The New Yorker, Groff recalled the impact performing in the visually-stunning and narratively-meta film “The Matrix Resurrections” had on his psyche.
“Getting to play Agent Smith really unlocked rage inside of me that I didn’t know was there,” Groff said. “That’s helped me so much with ‘Merrily,’ particularly in the first act. Learning the kung fu was, like, months of fight training. They called me the Savage, because I was so into it. We were shooting a big fight sequence with Keanu, and, after the first few takes, I remember Lana [Wachowski] at the monitor, like, ‘Jonathan, come over here.

Madonna‘s movie A League of Their Own received a warm reception from audiences. On the other hand, the “Like a Prayer” singer publicly criticized the movie. She didn’t think it lived up to two classic movies that she considered works of art. However, the Queen of Pop didn’t completely dismiss A League of Their Own.
Madonna said ‘A League of Their Own’ ‘candy-coated’ a fascinating story
A League of Their Own is loosely based on the history of the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League, which paved the way for a lot of women’s sports leagues. During a 1992 interview with The Guardian, the Material Girl said the film reified the concept of the American Dream. She was asked if the movie was “phony.” “It depends on who’s telling the story,” she said. “There are people that have their own views of America.

Madonna is the best dance-pop singer ever. However, Madonna still produced some of the best pop ballads to grace the Billboard Hot 100. Here’s a look at her five best slow songs.
5. ‘Live to Tell’
“Live to Tell” has a certain mystery that few Madonna ballads possess. The song’s theme of internality was the first moment in Madonna’s career where it felt like she might have hidden depths. Many emotional Madonna projects owe a depth of gratitude to “Live to Tell,” such as “Take a Bow,” “Don’t Tell Me,” and Ray of Light.
Perhaps the best part of “Live to Tell” is its signature synthesizer riff. It’s one of the Material Girl‘s best musical moments. While the song itself is innocuous, the “Like a Virgin” singer courted controversy by performing the song while feigning crucifixion.
4. ‘Crazy for You’
The best songs portray a love that sounds almost desperate.

A League of Their Own might be Madonna‘s most beloved movie. While the film holds up, people don’t often speak of the hit single that came out of it. Here’s what the Queen of Pop had to say about the film and the song.
Madonna wrote a ballad for ‘A League of Their Own’
Madonna is the Queen of Pop, but she generally wasn’t the Queen of Movies. For every hit like Evita she starred in, the Material Girl starred in four or five embarrassing flops. One of the most beloved bright spots in her film career was A League of Their Own, an ensemble comedy about women in baseball.
During a 1992 interview with The Guardian, Madonna discussed her attitude toward making movies. “It’s not something you can just go, ‘Ok, I’ve got an idea I’m going to go into the studio and record and put it out,...

Kristen Bell may have dozens of acting credits under her belt but that doesn’t mean she was initially fond of the idea of her children following in her footsteps.
The Veronica Mars alum recently spoke to People magazine at the opening night of Reefer Madness: The Musical at The Whitley in Los Angeles about her daughters — Lincoln, 11, and Delta, 8, with whom she shares with husband Dax Shepard — potentially working in the entertainment industry one day.
“You know it’s interesting, when I first thought about it, I thought, ‘Oh, I don’t want them to be actors. There’s too much rejection,'” Bell explained.
However, it was Shepard who encouraged her to keep an open mind. “Then my husband said, ‘Wait, do you like your life? Do you have fun? Are you overpaid? Do you get to be creative every day?’ I said, ‘Yeah.’ He said, ‘Why would...

Depending on how you understand it, Madonna‘s “Like a Virgin” might be a tune about virginity loss. The “Dress You Up” singer shot down that interpretation. She didn’t have kind words for virginal men.
What Madonna’s ‘Like a Virgin’ is really about
During a 1985 interview with Spin, the Queen of Pop revealed she can be a little picky when it comes to choosing sexual partners. “I wouldn’t like to sleep with a guy who was a virgin,” she said. “I’d have to teach him stuff and I don’t have the patience. I’d rather deal with experience.”
The Material Girl said listeners shouldn’t interpret her hit single “Like a Virgin” too literally. “When I say ‘virgin,’ like in my song, I’m not thinking about [a] sexual virgin,” she explained. “I mean newness. Even after I made love for the first time, I still...

Aloha, Moana. (The hello kind.)
Disney released a teaser trailer (below) for “Moana 2” on May 29. Our princess of Motunui is still out there voyaging, still drumming with her dead ancestors, still battling coconuts — it honestly just looks like additional “Moana” footage. That’s not automatically a bad thing. Also, it’s not yet the trailer trailer, so we’ll cut it a break — especially considering the feature film’s own origin story.
“Moana 2” was originally planned as a Disney+ series. Well, upgrade. Now a proper sequel, “Moana 2” welcomes back Auli’i Cravalho (as Moana), Dwayne Johnson as Maui, Nicole Scherzinger as Sina, and Temuera Morrison as Chief Tai.
Also an “upgrade” is Maui’s “boat snack” — the pig, Pua, has joined Heihei the chicken on Moana’s boat. Johnson gets the big joke of the teaser trailer: “Bacon and eggs!?! Why didn’t you bring the pig last time?...

The music video for Madonna‘s “Cherish” was part of a childhood memory for Kim Kardashian. Kardashian knew the Material Girl from a young age and said many positive things about her. Interestingly, “Cherish” was a major change of pace for Madonna at a time when she was known for scandals.
Kim Kardashian was there when Madonna shot ‘Cherish’
Madonna was known for her provocative music videos. For her love song “Cherish,” she toned down her image. The black-and-white video depicts the “True Blue” singer frolicking at the beach with a group of mermen. For an artist whose videography includes Bdsm, burning crosses, and kisses with Britney Spears, “Cherish” was a rare moment of wholesome innocence — even if the camera lingers a lot on the bodies of Madonna and her aquatic friends.
In a 2018 Facebook post, Kardashian discussed her feelings about the Material Girl. “You guys don’t even understand...

Madonna‘s “Cherish” sounds like a normal, if abnormally infectious, hit song. Notably, the Material Girl said she was not in a normal frame of mind when she wrote it. The track has an interesting connection to several other Madonna hits.
Madonna revealed what she thinks when she writes hit songs
In the late 1980s, Madonna’s image became even more provocative. With the release of her album Like a Prayer, the singer attacked the church with the album’s title track, embraced feminism with “Express Yourself,” and denounced her father in the tune “Oh Father.” One of the least inflammatory tracks on the album is the peppy love song “Cherish.” While much of Like a Prayer sounded current and hip, “Cherish” sounds like it’s from the 1950s or early 1960s.
During a 1991 interview with Rolling Stone, Carrie Fisher asked Madonna if she had ever written tunes during a manic high.

The final game in the Kirby video games’ series, Kirby Air Ride, wasn’t exactly a fan favorite but somehow managed to become a commercial success. Mixed reception from the critics didn’t affect the sales, as the figure went on to 1.2 million copies sold across the globe.
Although it failed to touch the gamers’ hearts, there could’ve been a feature that may have changed things. In all probability, players might have experienced an immersive Kirby world, and the game’s critical reception would’ve been shifted from mixed to positive. If you think of the word “frozen” today, a certain Disney movie and the song “Let It Go” come to mind. If you thought of that word in 1998, Madonna’s ballad “Frozen” would have come to mind. While “Let It Go” is a fun show tune for little kids, “Frozen” is the superior song for many reasons. The Queen of Pop explained what she thought of “Frozen” in retrospect.
The difference between ‘Let It Go’ and Madonna’s ‘Frozen’
“Let It Go” has a fun Broadway melody reminiscent of “Defying Gravity” from Wicked. Its message is great for little kids who want to rebel against their parents by staying up past their bedtime. However, it’s not the sort of rebel song that works for anyone over the age of seven. It’s a little too tame and, well, Disneyesque for that. Walt Disney probably would have loved it but...

The recent release of the trailer for ‘Star Wars: The Acolyte’ has generated significant excitement, particularly with its promise of action-packed scenes. Creator Leslye Headland has consistently emphasized this aspect in her various media appearances.
Describing the series as a fusion of ‘Frozen’ and ‘Kill Bill’, she highlighted influences from Wuxia films and Samurai action. The trailer itself offered glimpses of these elements, with Headland elaborating on how ‘Acolyte’ will present a unique perspective by portraying Jedi as outnumbering Sith for the first time in the franchise’s history.
Numerous cast members of the show have already shared insights into their rigorous training routines. Now, Amandla Stenberg, set to portray Mae, one of the main characters, opened up about the challenges she faced for the producers. In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, she detailed her commitment to immersing herself fully in every training regimen and sequence presented to her.

Recently, the trailer for ‘Star Wars: The Acolyte’ was released, and it promised a lot of action, something that the creator herself, Leslye Headland promised in her many appearances across the media.
She explained that she pitched ‘Acolyte’ as ‘Frozen’ meets ‘Kill Bill’ and was heavily influenced by Wuxia films and Samurai action. The trailer already showcased plenty of that, and Headland went to great lengths to explain how ‘Acolyte’ will for the first time ever present Jedi as being vastly superior in numbers to Sith.
Plenty of stars in the show already commented their arduous training regimes, and now Amandla Stenberg who will be portraying Mae, one of the main characters in the show described how she “pain” for the producers. She decided to dive deep into every routine and training sequence presented before her in her recent interview for Entertainment Weekly.

Undeniably, Kelly Clarkson was having a rough night. While she was performing on May 10, she was a bit out of sorts.
Kelly Clarkson Starts The Night Off In A Weird Mood
When she first came on stage at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey, on May 10 and 11, she was feeling a little off. After entering the platform, Kelly Clarkson admits she was in a weird mood. She says, “I’m in a weird mood. I don’t know why. You should’ve seen me backstage. I was dancing like Kristen Wiig in [Saturday Night Live],” referring to her creative movements. But even with the unusual intro, she said she was eager to start and be performing. Admittedly, she only gets to do short songs as part of Kellyoke on The Kelly Clarkson Show.
Kelly Clarkson is no stranger to performing Kellyoke on The Kelly Clarkson Show.

Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande star in director Jon M Chu’s new musical adaptation. Take a look at the new Wicked trailer.
Jon M. Chu’s Wicked is one of this year’s most awaited film musicals. Starring Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande, Chu’s film is adapted from the hugely popular, and rather good, stage musical. Recently, Chu also confirmed that the film would use live vocals, which isn’t surprising as both Grande and Erivo have pretty good pipes for this sort of thing.
The story proved too big for a single film, so Chu and writer Winnie Holtzman have divided it into two parts. We assume the first part will adapt the musical’s first act while Wicked Part Two will do justice to the second act, but don’t quote us on that.
A new trailer has just landed online as well, albeit not on a broomstick.

We've known for some time now that 2024 is something of a recalibration year for the Marvel Cinematic Universe after a rough past year for the blockbuster franchise. But with Wolverine & Deadpool just weeks away and X-Men '97 keeping the Marvel flag flying high on Disney+ right now, plans for Kevin Feige and co's big comeback are already well underway. And, during an announcement-laden Disney Upfront presentation yesterday, we got some big release updates for the studio's upcoming slate of Disney+ series.
Firstly, the House of Mouse — not Harkness — confirmed that they've been leading fans a merry dance with the titling of their upcoming WandaVision spin-off series, centred around everyone's favourite badass (and just plain bad) witch. It's not Agatha: House Of Harkness, The Coven Of Chaos, The Darkhold Diaries, or in fact The Lying Witch With Great Wardrobe. Turns out it was Agatha All Along, well, all along — cheeky devils!

Diablo 4‘s “Loot Reborn” season is the game’s most significant update yet. While there are so many individual aspects of that update that are worth diving into, many of them are designed to impact the power level of the game’s five classes in direct and indirect ways. As a result, the game’s “meta” looks a little different than it has in recent months.
Before we dive into that topic, keep in mind that these rankings represent an overall snapshot of the power levels of those classes at the moment. In other words, everything from leveling speed to the viability of each of these classes in the endgame factor into their rankings. Since we’re early into to Season 4 meta, those rankings are also based on precedent, Ptr performance, and all other currently available information. In other words, they are subject to change as further updates are released...

Like a dog with a bone, Elsbeth is on the case of a pilfered pooch like she has a bone to pick in Elsbeth Season 1 Episode 8.
Technically, it's the dog's owner that Elsbeth is looking into, but this episode is so crammed with canines that it's hard to focus on anything other than the adorable dogs.
However, at the center of "Artificial Genius" is Quinn, the CEO of a location-based crime alert app called Cerberus. Audiences who watched the Netflix show You will likely recognize Elizabeth Lail as the actress who portrayed Beck.
Elsbeth has solidified certain formulaic practices, such as having a familiar face as the murderer in each episode, but now we can add to that. Elizabeth Lail joins the list of continued actors who have already portrayed characters in The Good Wife universe.

Long before Queen Elsa, Madonna took the world by storm with “Frozen.” It’s a haunting ballad and stands apart from much of her work by because it’s emotionally provocative rather than sexually provocative. While nothing about the song’s lyrics is controversial the tune was still banned in Belgium for years. Here’s a look at why that happened and why the band was eventually lifted.
Madonna’s ‘Frozen’ was the subject of 2 legal cases with 2 different results
Whenever a song gets too big, it seems like plagiarism cases lie just around the corner. According to MuuMuse, Belgian songwriter Salvatore Acquaviva claimed Madonna’s “Frozen” plagiarized the opening bars of his song “Ma Vie Fout L’camp.” Acquaviva won a copyright case against the Material Girl in 2005. For that reason, “Frozen” was banned in Belgium, halting all sales and radio play of the song.

Disneyland is about to get bigger after the Anaheim City Council unanimously voted to approve the project, allowing Disney to move forward with the $1.9 billion expansion.
While most of the proposed expansion area is currently parking or underutilized, some of the approved area is currently taken up by roads that will be shut down. This was a point of contention for some area residents.
Disney wants to add more theme park attractions alongside the hotels on part of Disneyland Drive and new shopping and entertainment areas in the Toy Story Parking lot. The new zoning will take effect in 30 days.
Under the agreement, Disney must spend at least $1.9 billion on the Disneyland expansion within the next ten years. Disney will also give $30 million towards affordable housing within the next five years, $15 million of which will be given in year one and the remaining $15 million to be paid in five years.

The Anaheim City Council gave final approval today to DisneylandForward, the $1.9 billion, Disney’s multi-decade expansion plan for Walt’s original park. Today’s 7-0 procedural vote came after a unanimous vote approving the project in April. The zoning and other changes laid out by the plan to take effect in 30 days.
Those changes include zoning that will allow mixed use development where it does not exist now. The proposal allows the redeployment of some 57 acres of parking and unused land. Artists’ renderings of the plans provided by Disney, while conceptual, show one major development to the west of the current parks near the Disneyland Hotel and another to the southeast of California Adventure. Both plots are currently dedicated mostly to parking.
That would allow theme park attractions alongside hotels on the west side of Disneyland Drive. See rendering below.

Bob Iger wants you to marvel more at his Marvel films and series. To make them better, he’s making fewer.
On Tuesday, the Disney CEO said Marvel is going to decrease its volume to “probably about two TV series a year” and 2-3 movies annually.
“We’ve been working hard with the studio to reduce output and focus on quality,” Iger said on Disney’s fiscal second quarter (Q2) earnings call. “That’s particularly true with Marvel.”
“We’re slowly going to decrease volume and go to probably about two TV series a year instead of what had become four, and reduce our film output from maybe four a year to two— a maximum of three,” he continued.
Cool, so what you got? Iger said Marvel has “a couple of good films in [2025], and then we’re heading to more ‘Avengers,’ which we’re extremely excited about.”

After debuting early last weekend, Universal’s The Fall Guy expanded to 78 overseas markets during its sophomore session, adding $25.4M for a running total of $36.9M at the international box office. That’s in line with Bullet Train and above The Lost City at the same point in release. Globally, the David Leitch-directed action romance is at $65.4M.
This is a fun picture with positive scores and exits so there’s hope for some legs here and playability throughout upcoming holidays. Still, an expensive movie, it came in slightly below projections domestically.
Internationally, the UK was a No. 1 debut with a strong $4.4M from 1,400 screens. Odeon was the top-performing circuit, and Everyman registered a 9% share, 3.1 points higher than their average for the year. Performance across 51 IMAX screens made up 7.6% of the total. The weekend result is well above Bullet Train and The Lost City. Monday is a holiday.
Mexico opened to $2.5M at No.

Deadline’s Most Valuable Blockbuster tournament is back. While studios during Covid wildly embraced the theatrical day-and-date model when cinemas were closed, they soon realized there’s nothing more profitable than a theatrical release and the downstreams that come with it. Madonna‘s Ray of Light is many things but it’s not a trashy album. Despite this, seven of the songs from Ray of Light might’ve ended up in the trash. One of the producers from the album recalled an experience that terrified him while he was working for the Queen of Pop.

Smoot is one of several thousand employees globally who are part of Disney’s Imagineering unit, which designs, builds and imagines the technology, creative and conceptual designs behind new theme parks, attractions, cruise ships and resorts.
While the unit, which started in 1952, has had a consistent workload at Disney, including testing out some of Disney’s more “moonshot” ideas and building its animatronics for parks, the number of projects recently has been on the upswing, as Disney plans its $60 billion expansion of the parks and experiences business, including a new Frozen theme park in Paris, a possible revamp of Dinoland U.S.A. at Animal Kingdom...
