Great Episode!

Warning: Spoilers
When Sheldon wants something bad, he will do anything for it! Some great scenes. Especially with Stephen Hawking at the end! Wow. Sheldon gets what he wants, but what he has to do to get it it brilliant! I love how Howard stands up for himself and makes Sheldon actually do something for others .. A great Episode! Only been watching this since last month, i have got through all 5 Seasons already, i love it! I heard that there are at least another 2 Seasons on the way, which is awesome! This is a great show for a pick me up .. when u just want to escape. This episodes just shows how all the characters are expanding and growing, so i cant wait to see what else the writers have in store for us in the future episodes. They have already done over 100 episodes so far, and from what i hear all the cast are up for another 100! :D I love all the Characters, and i am starting to enjoy the Newbies, Amy and Bernadette! Wander what will happen with them in the future too, most interestingly Amy and Sheldon's relationship. Not long until Season 5 finale .. wonder what will go down at Howard's Party? Great show .. My new favourite Sit Com! Up there with Friends!

Stephen Hawking makes an appearance in "The Hawking Excitation" ep of "The Big Bang Theory"
tavm23 November 2012
In this ep of "The Big Bang Theory": Howard is about to help fix Stephen Hawking's wheelchair which gets Leonard and Raj excited for their friend...and Sheldon as well as he wants to meet the person he considers his equal. But because of his constant condescension about Howard's job, Howard won't allow it...until Sheldon begs so Howard gives him some conditions to make him earn penance. I'll stop there and just say this was another excellent ep of "The Big Bang Theory". I mean, all the things Howard makes Sheldon do is really hilarious especially when Sheldon has to do some shopping with Howard's mother! Oh, and wait till you watch Sheldon and Hawking's meeting! Okay, so on that note, "The Hawking Excitation" is a way excellent ep of "The Big Bang Theory".

Sadism

Howard is given the enviable task of looking out for Stephen Hawking when he makes an appearance at the University. This gives him tremendous power over Sheldon who loves Hawking and his theories. Howard is perfectly cruel in getting Sheldon to do menial tasks. It's really below him, no matter how badly Sheldon treats him.

Not one I'm particularly fond of

I love the idea of introducing Stephen Hawking to the show, and his introduction is really good. The episode itself on the other hand, not so much. I found Howard a little bit mean in this episode. I mean yes Sheldon is an arrogant, conceited and self-centered person who does think he's better than everyone else, but some of the tasks Howard made him do makes me drag the rating of the episode down a little bit. I feel like this episode would have been better if Raj was paired with Sheldon because I love the dynamic between Raj and Sheldon. I will say this episode still has some good laughs like with Sheldon polishing Howard's belt buckles, Sheldon in the maid costume, Sheldon with Mrs. Wolowitz and him meeting Stephen Hawking. But other than that, it's an episode I might rather skip. It's not a bad or terrible episode, it's just decent at most.

The Hawking Excitation

It cops out at the end with a rather cheap joke which I wasn't keen on (and that we've seen before from Sheldon), but on the whole this was a good episode from the fifth series of 'The Big Bang Theory'.

I like the Howard/Sheldon dynamic, and that features heavily here.

Nobody else really gets much of a look in here in terms of material, though there's a nice Penny/Sheldon moment at one point.

It was a shame that Raj's quandary from the last episode hadn't become more of a running plot and seemed completely forgotten, because I thought that had much more room for development.

It does feel on this occasion that the show went for laughs rather than growth.

Worst episode ever!

Warning: Spoilers
The writers finally lost all of my respect with this episode. It has been on the wain since they brought Amy in. She was a good idea as a passing character, but her continuing presence in the show is ruining the characterisation completely.

Their (the writers, not the characters) bullying of Sheldon in this episode is utterly ridiculous. They put him through a string of increasingly ridiculous punishments, none of which his character would ever have tolerated in previous episodes, in order to get to a meeting with Stephen Hawking, which he could easily have arranged a dozen other ways. Then they put him through a stupid mathematics mistake.

Why have characterisation if you are just going to throw away all the characters most basic behaviours whenever it suits you.

Seriously such high ratings?

There's nothing funny about this episode. This being one of the highest episodes of this is season is kind of disturbing. It was honestly tormenting to watch this. The entire episode is about Howard exploiting Sheldon just because he can make Sheldon meet Hawking. This sets a bad example for people and there are a lot of kids watching this. As if the guys don't already seem childish enough, the level of immaturity of these guys seen in this episode is mind boggling. Adults don't behave like this. He'll, kids don't behave this stupid!
