Susan schools Erin

Seth, I'm not sure if your dialog between Susan and Erin in the hallway was intentional regarding Susan's recollection of a photo of a woman with a deformed ear. I am a big fan of all your work, I binged this show in two sittings. But, sorry to say the reference to smoking while pregnant is not a known cause for a "popcorn" ear (otherwise known as microtia). Smoking while pregnant is never a good idea, but probably not the cause. It might be a good idea to shed some light on the subject, maybe a link to a very informative page earcommunity dot org If you know KISS guitarist Paul Stanley, he can fill you in on the birth defect.

Yours Truly John

PS, will there be a second Ted mini-series? I'm still a fan, how about you bring Flash Gordon back?

Misguided approach to feminism

Warning: Spoilers
This episode makes no sense.

We have been watching, for a few episodes, Susan being a kind of saintly virgin type of character.

It's revealed to us that she had higher aspirations than homemaking when she was young. She eagerly accepts the job of substitute teacher when it's offered to her. She is actually amazing at this position because she shows not only enthusiasm for the material, but a deep sense of empathy and professionalism when challenged by the children. At the end of the day she decides that the sense of self worth she gets from practicing her empathy, patience, and kindness to the child is the same that she could get at home from her (mostly) ungrateful family members... and turns down the job.

I do not know why the show decided to take on feminism or family politics in such a clumsy way. This was the most unsatisfying 2 dimensional female character I have seen. It's even worse because they present it as a feminist in her own right.

If this is meant to justify female homemakers being free from shame of choosing their position, they could have done this so much better. This does not feel like it is relatable to any person in my life that I have ever encountered. It feels much more like a fantasy version of femininity that I thought the show was going to play with, but ultimately distance itself from.

Warning: Spoilers
Ted has been a solid mini-series for Peacock so far, but this episode was kind of a disappointment. It also seemed like it randomly ended out of nowhere. There was not a lot of resolution to the whole teaching bit.

The therapy stuff was good in the beginning, but it felt like a true Seth MacFarlane Family Guy special where they gave us a plot very early on and then took a huge detour and left turn only to rush its resolution.

A few funny moments, but nothing too noteworthy or that I am likely to quote at a later date. Probably the weakest episode to date of Ted, but there's two left so we'll see.
