We do not get it analyzed as much as I would like, but whenever Stewie and Brian butt heads over his writing career, it usually leads to good TV. There are so many ways they can have this plot device from Brian having success to Brian down on his luck and emotions, but for some reason Family Guy does not go to the well as much as they should.
The thing they do turn to way too much is Peter doing some shenanigans that do not make any sense, and adopting a bird just to get some paid time off certainly qualifies there.
A couple good moments in this one, but definitely a forgettable episode of Family Guy.
