Challengers star Mike Faist and Talk to Me breakout Sophie Wilde have a date with Chopard during this year’s Cannes Film Festival.
The luxury jeweler has selected the actors to receive the prestigious Trophée Chopard, an award doled out since 2001 at the invitation of the house’s Caroline Scheufele as a way to honor cinema’s rising stars. Faist and Wilde will receive the trophies during a glitzy dinner at Carlton Beach on May 17. As previously announced, godmother Demi Moore will take the stage and present the pair with the honors.
The winners are selected by an academy comprising previous winners as well as those who have served as godmothers and godfathers at the ceremony. Winners have included Marion Cotillard, Léa Seydoux, Diane Kruger, Niels Schneider, Florence Pugh, Jessie Buckley, Naomie Ackie and Daryl McCormack.
Faist can currently be seen on screen in Luca Guadagnino’s Challengers opposite Zendaya and Josh O’Connor.

Nicole Kidman is the rare actress in the 21st century who, like the stars of Hollywood’s golden years, doesn’t disappear into roles so much as elevate films by her mere presence.
She’s certainly swung big at mainstream blockbusters (think: the “Aquaman” films) that might feel out of her step with her character-driven work elsewhere (like most of the films on the list that follows). But that’s because the Australian icon is unafraid of any role, whether stripping down her post-Oscar, A-lister veneer to film Lars von Trier’s Brechtian “Dogville” in Sweden, slipping into a bathtub with the 10-year-old possible reincarnation of her dead husband in Jonathan Glazer’s “Birth,” or, yes, donning a fake nose to play a suicidal Virginia Woolf for her Oscar-winning turn in “The Hours.”
On April 27 in Los Angeles, Nicole Kidman will receive the 49th AFI Life Achievement Award, joining the ranks of Jane Fonda,...

90 Day Fiance cast member Kim Menzies is visibly salty following a snub by TLC. So, what happened that has Kim so upset?
90 Day Fiance: Kim Menzies Had Her Time In The Spotlight With Usman Umar
90 Day Fiance fans will never forget Kim Menzies’s scenes with Usman Umar. Whether fans liked it or not, TLC brought Usman back with Kim following his disaster storyline with Babygirl Lisa Hamme. Kim may have wanted things to work with Usman, but, that wasn’t in the cards either.
TLC spent a lot of time focusing on Kimberly Menzies and her storyline with Usman. Even after things went south and the pair broke up, TLC still did follow-up segments with the woman from California. However, now that she is no longer the TLC focus, Kim is clearly salty about it.

90 Day Fiance cast members Usman Umar and Kimberly Menzies got together for a surprising reunion recently. After everything they went through in their TLC scenes, most watchers didn’t think they would ever see this again. So, what’s the latest on this situation?
90 Day Fiance: Kimberly Menzies And Usman Umar Had One Of The Most Dramatic Storylines
Fresh off of his disaster situation with Babygirl Lisa Hamme, Usman Umar didn’t take very long to secure more 90 Day Fiance scenes when he found Kimberly Menzies, his biggest fan. Despite being adamant about wanting children, Usman had a knack for finding older women who were beyond their child-bearing days. So, this was an instant red flag right out of the gate.
Usman Umar insisted on finding older women for his 90 Day Fiance storyline. More often than not, large age-gap relationships don’t work out for the long haul for 90 Day Fiance pairs.

Aquaman’s mom Nicole Kidman is a superhero of cinemas, thanks to her enduringly viral AMC ads.
The Oscar winner starred in an infamous 2021 campaign for the largest U.S. theater chain — new versions of the ad are currently rolling out. In a recent cover story for Elle, Kidman spoke about her newfound commercial calling as a way to save theaters from extinction.
“It was just the desire to keep cinemas alive,” Kidman said. “I’ve had the best experiences in cinema. I’d pretend I was going to school; I’d forge a note, and I’d go and sit in a movie theater. That’s a safe haven for me, so the idea of those not existing — that’s just not part of the equation in my lifetime.”
Kidman continued, “If that’s what it takes, I’ll do whatever it takes. We have to have some more ideas for the next one.

Director Damien Leone has established a new slasher mainstay with his "Terrifier" series. After taking his Art the Clown character, who'd previously appeared in several short films, and putting him at the center of 2016's "Terrifier," the director followed up that lackluster effort with 2021's "Terrifier 2" — a movie too brutal for some horror fans. While "Terrifier" had been, in the words of /Film's Chris Evangelista, "crap," the sequel had more narrative and lore-building. As such, it amounted to not only a surprise box office hit, but a markedly better movie.
After the release of "Terrifier 2," audiences — many of which reportedly fainted at screenings — were excited to see more of Art, the bloodthirsty harlequin who had started to gain some pop cultural recognition. His nightmarish visage could be seen cropping up in "Bupkis" cameos and generally seemed to be transcending the niche horror genre from which he came.

Julia Louis-Dreyfus is taking on her most sinister co-star yet: death itself.
The actress, who recently starred in the A24 indie “You Hurt My Feelings,” plays a grieving mother in another A24 film, the upcoming “Tuesday.” Written and directed by Daina O. Pusić, “Tuesday” centers on a parent (Louis-Dreyfus) and her teenage daughter (Lola Petticrew) as they confront Death when it arrives in the form of an astonishing talking parrot. The film marks Pusić’s directorial debut.
In the trailer, Louis-Dreyfus’ character tries to connect with her ailing daughter while discussing modern dating. However, she can’t see the bird that her daughter speaks with as she is ushered to the other side. The film is a BBC Films co-production.
Louis-Dreyfus previously shut down rumors of a possible “Seinfeld” reunion and is set to appear in the continued phase of the MCU after making her debut in “Falcon and the Winter Soldier” Disney+ series.

Nicole Kidman has signed up to work with Macbeth and Assassin’s Creed director Justin Kurzel on a particularly dark-sounding family drama called Mice. More here:
Justin Kurzel and Nicole Kidman are two of Australia’s greatest gifts to the world of cinema, so it’s exciting to learn that the duo will be teaming up to make Mice, a drama which follows the fortunes of a family dealing with the aftermath of a series of devastating events.
From 2015’s Macbeth through to 2021’s Nitram, Kurzel’s filmography largely continues to impress with each film he makes, and Kidman’s CV simply speaks for itself. Mice is based on Gordon Reece’s 2011 debut novel, and is said to follow a mother and daughter who ‘are pushed to their limits, confronting their moral convictions and the line between right and wrong in the face of bullying, violence and fear.’

[This story contains spoilers for The Iron Claw and A Murder at the End of the World.]
Harris Dickinson is having a December to remember.
The rising English actor has concluded 2023 with two standout roles in Sean Durkin’s The Iron Claw and Brit Marling/Zal Batmanglij’s A Murder at the End of the World. In the former, Dickinson plays professional wrestler David Von Erich, the third of Fritz Von Erich’s (Holt McCallany) six sons, and the second out of five to suffer a tragic fate. The role has a lot in common with Dickinson’s other current role as Bill “Fangs” Farrah on A Murder at the End of the World, as both characters’ deaths set their respective stories in motion.
Oddly enough, Dickinson has played the first major domino to fall on two other occasions, starting with 2021’s The King’s Man and then 2022’s Where the Crawdads Sing. Each death is central to their narrative,...

[Editor’s note: The following article contains spoilers for “Notes on a Scandal,” “Last Summer,” and “May December.“]
“May December” has been called a dark comedy and a campy take on “Persona” (though director Todd Haynes disdains the “camp” label). It inspired an unexpected Netflix meme-based social media push capitalizing on the shirtless scenes of supporting star Charles Melton, and now this tale of abuse has been nominated for, of all things, a comedy at this year’s Golden Globes. (Netflix submitted the film as such.)
It seems that “May December” has led to every conversation but what it’s actually about: grooming.
The film tracks the fallout of Gracie, an adult woman (Julianne Moore) who seduced a 12-year-old boy (played as an adult by Charles Melton), had his children, went to jail for her misdeeds, and — eventually — married her victim. Natalie Portman portrays Elizabeth, an actress playing Gracie in a big-screen adaptation of her life.

The erotic thriller is back, and you'd have to be a prudish killjoy to lament its return.
The subgenre has its roots in the pre-code movies of the 1920s, and '30s, and films noir of the '40s and '50s, but the formula as it exists today was codified in 1980 with Paul Schrader's "American Gigolo" and, most vitally, Brian De Palma's "Dressed to Kill". And thanks to Karina Longworth's deep dive into best and worst of the subgenre via her indispensable podcast "You Must Remember This," younger viewers who weren't there for the '80s and '90s heyday are now revisiting the stylish highs and Skinemax lows of films in which people occasionally take a break from screwing to commit a string of murders (or investigate said murders with alarming aloofness).
