Exclusive: The Esx Entertainment produced horror movie The Necklace has added actresses Christina Moore and Brynne Kurland to their growing cast which includes sisters Madeleine & Violet McGraw (respectively from M3GAN and The Black Phone), Sarah Lind, Felix Solis and Jacob Moran.
John Ducey wrote the screenplay which Juan
Pablo Arias Muñoz is directing.
The Necklace watches as the Davis family navigates through tough times in 1960. Laura Davis has separated from her husband Frank due to his unpredictable temper, fueled by alcohol. As Laura returns to work as a nurse, her daughters, 11-year-old Ellen (Violet McGraw) and 16-year-old Judy (Madeleine McGraw), grapple with the changes in their family dynamics. The plot thickens when Frank attempts to win Laura back with a beautiful antique necklace, which turns out to be a conduit for the tormented soul of an evil boy from long ago, putting Laura and her daughters in grave danger.

Matt Smith may play a fan-favorite Targaryen right now, but there was another Targaryen descendant who has always had fan support for being the best Game of Thrones character. Fans may get riled up for that exact reason at Smith’s recent comments on who would win a battle between Daemon Targaryen and Jon Snow. Smith shared that Daemon would emerge victorious over Kit Harington’s Jon Snow in such a scenario.

Such a fight would never take place in the Game of Thrones universe because of the 200-year gap between the storylines. However, Smith shared that his character’s ownership of the large red dragon Caraxes would make him a clear winner over Jon Snow.

“Ezra,” the story of a stand-up comic embarking on a road trip with his autistic son, is the kind of movie that Hollywood doesn’t make much anymore. It’s not based on a toy or a comic book; instead it’s a warm-hearted, deeply human story without much in the way of special effects. But the movie, which opened last weekend in the height of summer popcorn season, is exactly what Closer Media, the new film and television company that backed the production, was founded to champion.
“We want to tell stories from all over the world that are meaningful and that can bring people closer together,” says Zhang Xin, noting that Closer’s mission statement is right there in its name. “When a project comes to us, we ask does it move our heart and does it open our eyes?”

The Game of Thrones prequel House of Dragon has so far had a good run and has quickly become one of the best fantasy shows of all time. Created by George R. R. Martin and Ryan Condal, the show takes place nearly 200 years before the events of the original series. Featuring how the House Targaryen lost its influence and the war of succession that followed, the show nonetheless has had spectacular reviews and reactions.

The sci-fi genre has always been one of the most beloved among cinephiles as it gives us a new look at a particular technology or our world. There was a time when Max (formerly known as HBO Max) was the place for peak sci-fi shows but after taking off Westworld and Raised by Wolves from the service, and since then it has been lacking a bit regarding sci-fi shows. But still, we picked the seven best sci-fi shows that we could find on Max.

House of the Dragon co-creator Ryan Condal had Matt Smith’s face in mind when he wrote the role of Daemon Targaryen in the series. Soon, he met with Smith to discuss the role along with co-showrunner Miguel Sapochnik in 2020. Smith agreed to the role but he had his concerns about the series. He was worried that the series came too soon after Game of Thrones ended and that audiences had already seen this story.
Matt Smith in House of the Dragon | HBO
Smith’s concerns were unfounded as the first season of the series received an overwhelmingly positive response from GoT fans. He is all set to return to the role in HoTD Season 2, which will focus on the Dance of the Dragons, the Targaryen Civil War between Rhaenyra’s team Black and Alicent’s team Green.

Being an actor means losing out on many, many roles, especially when you are just starting out. Glen Powell knows this agonizing truth all too well. The actor was initially known for his role in Scream Queens (2015-2016), where he played Chad Radwell. However, he gained worldwide fame and recognition only after playing Hangman in Top Gun: Maverick (2022). He then went on to star in his own rom-com, Anyone but You (2023) opposite the gorgeous Sydney Sweeney.

Hannah Einbinder doesn’t perform the stand-up comedy in Hacks — that falls to Jean Smart, who stars with Einbinder as veteran comic Deborah Vance — but that was her primary job before she landed the role on the Emmy-winning Max series as Ava, a struggling writer who reluctantly takes a job with Deborah and, over the course of the show’s three seasons, becomes both a confidant to the veteran comic and the object of Deborah’s most withering scorn.
Einbinder will take center stage herself in her first stand-up special, Everything Must Go, which premieres June 13 on Max. The hourlong set, filmed in April at the El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles, covers everything from climate change to Einbinder’s days as a competitive cheerleader as a teenager, shot in a cinematic style by director Sandy Honig.

Adam Sandler-starring comedies are seemingly not critics’ favorites, as they often fell victim to their strict judgment. All of us can recall such hilarious genre’s staples as Big Daddy (1999), Click (2006) and Grown Ups (2010), but it may come as a surprise that their critical score is less than 40% on Rotten Tomatoes.
The movie that is now holding the fifth place in HBO’s global top is no exception, as it was panned by critics, but liked by the actor’s fans, just like the mentioned titles.
Its plot focuses on a pizzeria owner who lives his calm life in a small town. However, it’s about to change, as he is the only heir of his deceased uncle who leaves him a fortune of $40 billion. He embarks on a journey into the big city’s world of luxuries, large businesses and, moreover, tabloid reporters, who urge to know his success story.

Theatrical exclusivity is holding steady: In the first four months of 2024, it was around 30 days before PVOD — same as last year. However, as we track the theatrical, PVOD, and streaming lifecycles we’re seeing a new trend: The gap between theaters and streamers is shrinking.
Already, we’re seeing first-quarter theatrical releases like Sony’s “Anyone But You” on Netflix or “Dune 2” on Max. For the first two months of 2024, the average gap between the theatrical opening day and the streamers’ debuts was just 68 days. For the same period in 2023, it was 90 days.
Every wide release from the first four months of 2024 is now available for home viewing (or will be soon). The 30-day average between theatrical and PVOD debuts now appears to be a norm, and any stability is welcome in an uncertain industry. However, the accelerating move to streaming is bad news for theaters.
Faster streaming means another theatrical disincentive.

New data from Aluma shows that a majority of customers would be willing to accept a 1-year contract in exchange for meaningful streaming discounts.
The streaming industry has reversed course on many of its once-sacred tenants over the past two years. Ad-supported streaming plans and password-sharing restrictions run counter to the early philosophy of the streaming era when the medium wanted to do everything in its power to stand apart from traditional pay TV. However, recently, the quest for revenue optimization has changed all that, and now every top service — aside from Apple TV+ — has an ad-supported plan. Disney+, Hulu, and Max are all working to begin enforcing account-sharing rules, which Netflix has had in place for over a year. New research published by Aluma Insights this week suggests that the next streaming taboo to be broken could come in the form of long-term contracts. Offering discounted bundles in exchange...

While the OutDaughtered parents, Adam and Danielle Busby are squabbling over communication issues, the Busby Quints are calling for a cast member to be fired. Undeniably, the first three episodes of the newest season show the Quints and Blayke growing fast. Along with that comes a logistical nightmare of chauffeuring kids from one thing to another.
OutDaughtered Chaos
Although Adam and Danielle have been fighting more lately, some believe the root is in Danielle’s exhaustion from multiple illnesses she is combating. Likewise, others see a trend that makes them think it is time for Danielle to seek therapy for lashing out at the family. But overall, the Busby Quints: Ava, Hazel, Olivia, Parker, and Riley seem unphased by Danielle’s outbursts. However, they have indirect effects. Seemingly, they rule the house like banshees and often act helpless with responsibilities.

At 35, Glen Powell has quickly risen to fame as one of Hollywood’s currently most desired faces. The acclaimed actor, with his acting prowess and stunning physique, quickly gained prominence following his breakout role in the comedy-horror Scream Queens and arguably one of his most passionate projects yet alongside Tom Cruise in 2022’s Top Gun: Maverick.

Rocking black hair, bleached eyebrows and a white ensemble that she said was meant to resemble a car part, Lady Gaga debuted her Gaga Chromatica Ball concert special in her signature style Thursday night, with a premiere screening in Los Angeles for her fans.
The concert film follows Gaga during the Los Angeles stop of her 2022 Chromatica Ball Tour, as she takes over Dodger Stadium with both her biggest hits and new songs from her 2020 album Chromatica. It was Gaga’s first all-stadium tour and comprised just 20 dates, starting in Germany in July 2022 and ending two months later in Miami.
At the premiere event, Gaga — who made a quick change after the red carpet into a black outfit featuring a sparkling mask — sat down for a short Q&a with Access Hollywood‘s Scott Evans ahead of the screening. Guests were told in advance it would be a standing-room-only event...

Jessica Lange may have hinted at her own retirement for years, but the legendary actress is actually playing it out onscreen with her latest film “The Great Lillian Hall.”
Lange stars as the titular (fictional) iconic stage actress who grapples with her own legacy amid a dementia diagnosis. Her daughter (Lily Rabe) struggles with separating her mother Lillian from her Broadway fame, while Kathy Bates, Jesse Williams, and Pierce Brosnan round out the cast.
“I have lived my entire life in a place that creates illusions,” Lange says in the trailer as Lillian. Yet upon her cognizant decline, what’s real anymore, anyway?
“The Great Lillian Hall” is directed by Michael Cristofer. The official synopsis reads: “As beloved Broadway star Lillian Hall (Lange) pours her heart, soul, and time into preparing for her next big role, she finds herself blindsided by confusion and forgetfulness. Julio Torres is stepping into a very literal and gender-swapped “Girl With a Pearl Earring” rendition for HBO.
The “Los Espookys” creator is back at the network with new surreal series “Fantasmas,” which he created, directed, and stars in. The series debuted at the Atx TV Festival earlier this year.
Torres plays a fictionalized version of himself as he tries to uncover a lost gold oyster earring. In his search to find the precious object, Torres’ character Julio reflects on the offbeat folks he encounters in introspective, eerie, and comedic vignettes set in a dreamy, alternate version of New York City. The surreal series is billed as a “fantastical six-part tale” that is a “kaleidoscope of color” to “weave together stories of people looking for meaning, purpose, and connection in an increasingly isolating world.”
In addition to Torres, the cast includes Martine Gutierrez, Tomas Matos, and Joe Rumrill as the voice of Bibo.

Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga roared through Cannes before it launches in theaters Friday after nearly 10 years in development. The prequel film builds on the Australian wasteland universe established in George Miller’s four other movies of the franchise: Mad Max (1979), Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior (1981), Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome (1985) and Mad Max: Fury Road (2015).
In Fury Road, which became the first in the franchise to receive Academy Award nominations (winning six out of ten awards), Charlize Theron portrayed Imperator Furiosa. Anya Taylor-Joy takes on the titular role in this next installment, which shows her backstory of getting kidnapped by Warlord Dementus (Chris Hemsworth) and his Biker Hord. At 10 years old, she is forced to grow up fast, and while she fights for survival, her only wish is to return home and reunite with her family.

Daniel Radcliffe says it would be wise for the upcoming “Harry Potter” television series on Max to distance itself from the iconic film series, which means the potential for him to cameo in the show is quite low. Radcliffe famously headlined eight “Harry Potter” movies in the title role from 2001 to 2011.
“I don’t think so,” he told E! Online when asked about starring in the series in any capacity. “I think they very wisely want to [have] a clean break. And I don’t know if it would work to have us do anything in it. I’m very happy to just watch along with everyone else.”
Radcliffe then politely backed out of any more “Harry Potter” television talk. When asked if Max had already asked him about being involved in the series, he responded, “I’m going to be a politician about this and not deal in hypotheticals.”

Dakota Johnson is asking herself what we all have at one time or another: “Am I Ok?”
Johnson stars in the simply titled feature that premiered at the 2022 Sundance Film Festival. Tig Notaro co-directs with her wife and fellow comedian Stephanie Allynne from a semi-autobiographical script written by Lauren Pomerantz.
Johnson stars as 30something Lucy who realizes she is a lesbian just as her best friend Jane (Sonoya Mizuno) announces she’s moving from Los Angeles to London for work. As Lucy’s life is upended, she’s suddenly floating through a queer dating pool without the life raft of Jane.
Jermaine Fowler, Kiersey Clemons, Molly Gordon, and Sean Hayes also star, along with co-director Notaro.
Screenwriter Pomerantz told Entertainment Weekly that “Am I Ok?” began as a “friendship movie” centered on her actual best friend Jessica Elbaum, who serves as a producer on the film. However, the feature became a coming-out dramedy instead.

Kevin Spacey addressed the latest accusations against him tonight during a live TV appearance on NewsNation’s Cuomo.
In his first live appearance in years, Spacey told host Chris Cuomo he “wants to get back to work” and has “learned” from his experiences.
“I’m trying to show that I’ve listened. I’ve learned. I’ve got the memo,” Spacey said. “I feel very strongly that whatever mistakes I’ve made in my life, that I paid a price.”
A two-part documentary, “Spacey Unmasked,” recently aired in the U.K. and is now streaming on Max. It examines Spacey’s alleged sexual misconduct, including a claim that he allegedly groped another House of Cards actor on set.
Spacey denies the new allegations of inappropriate behavior from the men who were featured in the documentary.
Spacey told Cuomo the MeToo movement “swung far in the direction of unfairness.”

While OutDaughtered fans are excited to see the newest season on screen, it has been disappointing that the show isn’t consistently available on the Max streaming platform. After the initial airing of OutDaughtered Season 10 episodes 1 and 2, fans are wondering why they aren’t available.
OutDaughtered Fans Don’t See The New Episodes
When OutDaughtered episodes started for Season 10, fans were eager to catch up as soon as possible. However, some were unpleasantly surprised that the episodes weren’t available to stream on Max. For some platforms, the episodes were available right after the scheduled airing, but Max users report having issues getting the expected episodes in a timely manner. Undeniably, it is especially hard when they are attempting to dodge any spoilers with the episodes before getting the personal gratification of seeing it themselves.

Warner Bros. Discovery kept up with TV upfronts week’s biggest trend at their presentation out of The Theater at Madison Square Garden Tuesday: Promoting not just its TV slate as a prime ad-buying opportunity — but also its film franchises.
First up from CEO David Zaslav’s team, WB Discovery revenue and strategy chief Bruce Campbell addressed the Madison Avenue crowd following a sizzle featuring top Wbd IP and brands across film and TV series. Then Mindy Kaling took the stage to promote her Max comedy “The Sex Lives of College Girls” before introducing HBO and Max chairman and CEO Casey Bloys.
“I know when you look at me, you see a young, beautiful mother,” Kaling said. “The truth is I am an old Max veteran. I was here way back when Max was HBO Max, it was this whole other thing. It was just me, ‘Tom & Jerry’ reruns...
