Spoilers

The Parents Guide items below may give away important plot points.

Violence & Gore

  • When an old lady tells Anna a sad story, there are multiple flashbacks. A man had died due to an illness. A girl and her mother quarrel. A girl and a boy had been killed in a car accident. Also, Anna gets to know that Marnie as an old woman had died several years ago.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • There is a scene in which Anna describes herself as "Ugly, stupid, moody and unpleasant", before dropping to the floor crying.
  • Possibly the most emotional moment in the film is when Anna is going back home and waving goodbye to the friends she's made along the way. Including Marnie who's waving from her house in the marsh. It can definitely bring tears to anyone who's had to say goodbye to any of their dear friends before.
  • The ending sequence, beginning with an old lady telling Anna the truth about Marnie, is pretty emotional and very moving.
