A very brave debut film because the director chooses a mix (Thriller and Symbolism) that in Italy does not seem to be so successful. Punish the guilty. Which? The memory is not infallible at all. Avenge yourself, to live it all again, to get rid of the intruder that is within us; the alien, Oriana Fallaci would say. Revenge as catharsis. Homeopathically. A visually unusual film, full of tension and supported by a good group of actors, including the Vitalian Trevisan writer.

A disturbing kammerspiel

A ghostly plain and the dark spaces of an old furnace are the background to this burning noir, where in a claustrophobic atmosphere of tension three characters repel each other and attract each other moved more by an exasperated instinct of "survival" than by a conscious psychological implication. Among them, ambiguous and implacable, there is an intruder who will bring to the surface the background of their apparently casual encounter. The imagery of this movie is forged by mixing a very strong, sometimes harsh, realistic level with a more psychological and destabilizing one that opens up unusual drifts in a codified genre such as the revenge movie. The greatest merit of this film probably remains its extraneousness to a cinematographic panorama that requires instead of framing any story, any character. Occasionally you need less reassuring universes and emotions, and "Senza lasciare traccia" gives you this kind of visual experience with force.

Film embedded in such realities that so far no one like it so far has not invented. Husband and wife leave in a rather secluded place where she gets a job. She is a conservator of art and is involved in the restoration of the painting (revealing what is underneath). He is sick and chooses with her for companionship and because they are very attached to each other. But while she is working, he carries out his own program of residency ... His intention is to look into the eyes of his childhood torturer. Discrete movie, in many places unannounced, but if one looks closely, then all is logical. Interesting sound effects, interesting story, interestingly assembled. On the one hand, the puzzle that pulls on the other hand strong psychological cinema, realistic but full of unobtrusive symbols. But the film leaves a mark, not forgetting him immediately after leaving the cinema ... One more thing, there are four main characters in the film. In addition to Michele Riondino and Valentina Cervi it would be worth mentioning the names of the actors who played the other two roles: Giulio's father Vitaliano Trevisan and daughter Vera Elena Radonicich.
