Because 1983’s “A Christmas Story” has achieved iconic status among holiday movies and has become a nostalgic cornerstone to millions of fans who revisit it every December, it’s easy to forget that the film’s initial success came from its skewering of nostalgia itself.
The original tagline ironically called the film “A Tribute to the Original, Traditional, One-Hundred-Percent, Red-Blooded, Two-Fisted, All-American Christmas,” and director Bob Clark’s adaptation of Jean Shepherd’s comic reminiscences struck a chord precisely because it revealed the greed, venality, occasional cruelty, and recognizably human behavior that lurked beneath the Norman Rockwell façade of hazy Yuletide memories.
After several unsuccessful attempts to craft a sequel to Clark’s film, we finally get “A Christmas Story Christmas,” which brings back several of the original movie’s cast members. While it spends perhaps too much of its running time either recreating or directly quoting moments from its 1983 predecessor,...

Candace Cameron Bure opened up about her decision to join the faith-focused cable channel Great American Family.
The 46-year-old “Full House” alum, who announced her departure from Hallmark earlier this year, told the Wall Street Journal in a new interview that the move was prompted by her desire to tell stories with “more meaning and purpose and depth behind them.”
“I knew that the people behind Great American Family were Christians that love the Lord and wanted to promote faith programming and good family entertainment,” she explained.
She added that Hallmark “basically is a completely different network” due to leadership changes.

Cristin Milioti has entered “The Batman” universe. “The Resort” actress will portray Sofia Falcone, Carmine Falcone’s daughter, in “The Penguin” (working title), the HBO Max limited series and spinoff to Matt Reeves’ film.
The “Made for Love” star will play opposite Colin Farrell’s title character. According to the show’s logline, the DC drama will expand upon the world Reeves has created with the focus on Farrell’s nefarious Gotham City mobster.
In the Robert Pattinson-starring “The Batman,” the kingpin Falcone is portrayed by John Turturro, whose character is at odds with the Penguin for control over the city. The film reflects comic book canon that Selina Kyle/Catwoman (Zoë Kravitz) is one of Falcone’s daughters, so it is potentially plausible that the character could make an appearance in the series alonside Milioti.

Have you ever seen something so awesome that you just wanted to be a part of it? That was me two years ago when the first Guardians of the Galaxy film came out. I was so hyped about it, that I bought a Star Lord Jacket from a website for about 500 dollars. It wasn't official but it looked cool enough and it kept me warm. Well, there's a new one... And it's taking everything I have in me to not spend all my money on it as well.
The jacket is made by Anovos and is officially licensed by Marvel. It's high quality and incredibly accurate too. it was recreated using the original patterns with measurements and reference taken form the screen-used assets. All the zippers, buckles, pouches, and embroidery are all specifically tailored to match the film jacket. Its interior is fully lined and made of Faux leather with three types of rubberized print.

While 2015 has been full of rumored releases from long-silent artists, one classic band just came out of nowhere with their first new song in three years. Just in time for Christmas, Green Day is back with "Xmas Time of the Year," a pleasant addition to the holiday rock n' roll canon. The release comes with little more than that, though -- just a "happy holidays" tweet from the band and the rundown on its credits: "Words by Billie Joe Armstrong, music by Green Day, recorded by Chris Dugan" (he engineered their 2012 trio of albums -- the last new

Just in time for Christmas, Tina Fey regaled Ellen with a story about going to sit on Santa's lap when she was a kid. Like all good Christmas stories, it's a little bit heartwarming and a little bit creepy. Tina explained she went to see Santa in "a trailer that was parked in the J.C. Penney parking lot. A trailer with a Plexiglas window." Was this guy in a red suit hanging in his trailer even affiliated with J.C. Penney? (What would Tina Fey do without J.C. Penney?) Tina had the same questions you do. Only Santa and the Christmas gods and Krampus and the reindeer know the truth, but Tina speculates he might have just been "a guy with a trailer and a dream."...
