- TriviaTypically Bart tags walls with 'El Barto', but since he's in Cuba where Spanish is the official language he tags the wall with 'The Bart'.
- Goofs"Grampa" Abe Simpson reveals that he is 86. However he also refers to Canadian Prime Minister Trudeau. Grampa was, therefore, born in 1930, and would be 15 or 16 on V-E Day in 1945. This makes it impossible for Grampa to be a World War II veteran--a part of Grampa's story since the beginning of the series.
- Quotes
Marge Simpson: Don't worry, Grandpa. You're a veteran of every branch of the service. the VA hospital will take care of you.
Lisa Simpson: Aren't those the hospitals they call America's shame?
Homer Simpson: A lot of things are America's shame, sweety.

The Simpsons Go to Cuba and are Sure to Offend,
Havana Wild Weekend is a great Simpsons episode with a well written plot and tons of very funny scenes. It is a very enjoyable episode as we see the Simpsons travelling to Cuba to find cheaper medical care for Grampa. As all the vacation episodes go, there are plenty of digs made at the country, which is pure hilarity to watch and see how much a cartoon can manage to get away with. There are plenty of jokes made about Fidel Castro throughout and the scene where Homer watches Cuban television was the highlight for me.
The plot itself did not go as far as I would have liked it to. It remains in a very easy space and does not get as absurd as other holiday episodes, such as Thirty Minutes Over Tokyo and Blame it On Lisa, tend to, which left me a little underwhelmed, as my expectations were set higher.
It centers on Grampa, which I really liked. Seeing him start a fling in Cuba was a great story and the effort that the family go through for him in this episode is very sweet, all different parts of the show come together quite nicely in the end.
As far as vacation episodes go, it is not the best, but still great fun. Funny and sweet, Havana Wild Weekend is a very enjoyable Simpsons.
