Although Channing Tatum is considered one of the best-looking actors in modern Hollywood, there’s more to him than just his pleasant appearance.
After he struggled to find a job in his twenties, Tatum eventually stumbled into the acting world by chance, leading to a fruitful and prolific career.

Often typecast as the “dumb but good-looking” hero, Tatum has made major strides to strengthen his portfolio, extending his talent in both comedy and drama.

The release calendar for new movies over the next couple of weeks could best be described using an image of a tumbleweed lazily making its way across a desolate road. January has always been known as a dump month for Hollywood but this year is particularly bad as so many movies were pushed to later this year (or into 2025) due to the strikes last year. But it's not as though we have nothing coming down the pipeline. To that end, Bleecker Street is bringing an original sci-fi thriller in the form of "I.S.S." to a theater near you next weekend. Can it defy the odds and become a relatively rare original sci-fi hit?
As it stands, the film figures to have a muted debut. Box Office Pro currently has director Gabriela Cowperthwaite's latest taking in anywhere between $2 and $7 million on opening weekend. That's a pretty wide range but even...

Being set around Halloween, Scream VI was packed with immediately recognizable horror costumes. Jason Voorhees. Freddy Krueger. Michael Myers. Pinhead. Not to mention Ghostface. They were all in there. But during a party scene, one of the characters is wearing a costume you might not recognize. It’s a knight’s suit of armor, but made out of cardboard. That’s the same costume the protagonist in the 2007 horror comedy Murder Party (watch it Here) wears. If you didn’t recognize it, then we have to tell you all about Murder Party – because it’s the Best Horror Movie You Never Saw.
Murder Party was the feature directorial debut of Jeremy Saulnier, who has gone on to direct films like the revenge thriller Blue Ruin, the neo-Nazi horror film Green Room, and the mystery thriller Hold the Dark, as well as episodes of True Detective season 3. Saulnier also wrote the screenplay for the film.

No one can say that Oscar-winning director Steven Soderbergh delivers the same movie time after time. In an eclectic three-decade career, he has directed crowd-pleasing all-star vehicles, action comedies, political dramas, micro-mini experimental works, true-life story (“Erin Brockovich”) and even a film starring porn actress Sasha Grey (“The Girlfriend Experience”).
In addition to his Oscar success, Soderbergh has also found success bringing his singular vision to the small screen, winning an Emmy for directing and editing the TV movie “Behind the Candelabra” (which isn’t included on this list of big screen outings). He’s also been nominated twice as a director on “The Knick,” as a cinematographer on “Behind the Candelabra” and as a producer on “Roman Polanski: Wanted and Desired,” “His Way” and “Godless.”

Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling are set to star in a prequel to the iconic heist film ‘Oceans 11’, which will explore the origins of the original crew and their romantic entanglements in the 1960s. The film, tentatively titled ‘Oceans 10’, is still in development and has not been officially announced by Warner Bros., but producer Josey McNamara has confirmed that the project is alive and well.

Macon Blair is one of the great "those guys" of modern cinema, with a presence so memorable that you can't help but sit up in your seat when he pops up in a film. Seasoned movie buffs may point to his work in films like "Murder Party," "Green Room," "Logan Lucky," and "The Florida Project." A billion dollars' worth of people saw him this summer in a key supporting role in "Oppenheimer." Offscreen, he won a fair amount of acclaim for his directorial debut, the Netflix release "I Don't Feel at Home in This World Anymore." But the Macon Blair who made that offbeat dramedy is also the same maniac who made "The Toxic Avenger," the surprisingly lavish remake of the infamous z-grade B-movie from 1984, which put Troma Entertainment, with its now-legendary history of disgusting schlock-by-design, on the map.

This features footage from: "Girls", White Noise, The Dead Don't Die, House of Gucci, This Is Where I Leave You, Logan Lucky, Paterson, While We're Young, and BlacKkKlansman. I love that he includes one of his poems from Paterson (one of my all-time faves) and the way he integrates the back-and-forth Gucci convo. Hilarious. Heist movies are the best movies. This is an irrefutable fact. Stories about a group of people coming together and devising a plan to steal money, jewels, art, or anything of value from a secure location give you everything you could want. They're about interpersonal relationships, people being good at their jobs, sticking it to the powerful, and they're always filled with delightful complications and twists. In terms of big screen entertainments, they truly are the ideal genre, and no one is better at making them than Steven Soderbergh.
Of course, the crowning jewel of his heist oeuvre is the "Ocean's" trilogy, a star-studded triptych of top-shelf Hollywood entertainment that I could watch at any time. I even rewatched "Ocean's Eleven" two days before I even knew I would be writing this. Those films don't make up the entirety of the heist section of his filmography, though. He came back...

Exclusive: Fiona Shaw (Andor), Katherine Waterston (Inherent Vice) and Chaske Spencer (The English) have entered production in NYC on Park Avenue, a new indie drama from Sundance alum Gaby Dellal (On a Clear Day), who directs from her script written with Tina Alexis Allen.
A production of Rimsky Productions and Washington Square Films, Park Avenue follows a mother and daughter who, over a fraught six weeks, reveal secrets, unravel lies and ultimately lay bare the ties that bind. Paralyzed by her life wrangling cattle in Alberta, Canada, Charlotte (Waterston) jumps into her Ford Bronco, flees her over-controlling husband, and lands back in her childhood Park Avenue apartment where she takes refuge with her mother Kit (Shaw). Rediscovering the boy she loved, now her grown doorman Anders (Spencer), and the life she left at 18, the mother and daughter explore shared history, unshared truths and find a way to face both love and loss.

Recently, Katie Holmes was reading Haruki Murakami’s “Novelist as a Vocation.” Within the memoir, which is composed of 11 different essays from the revered Japanese writer, Holmes said she found a story that spoke directly to her own vocation: director.
Holmes said she was struck by a story the writer shared from early in his career, in which he lost a floppy disc that held an important first draft for a new work. “He was so upset, obviously, and had to rewrite [this section] and thought it wasn’t as good as the first draft,” Holmes said in a recent interview with IndieWire. “Years later, he found that floppy disk and he saw that actually that [lost] section wasn’t as good as what he ended up rewriting. And I thought, ‘Well, that’s kind of it.'”

Actors make a career out of being watched. However, not all of them like watching themselves on screen. 65 star Adam Driver is among the many stars who prefer to make a movie and forget about it. Here’s why the actor says he doesn’t like to revisit his old movies.

Driver rose to fame after playing a supporting role in the hit comedy Girls. His performance in the HBO show earned him three consecutive Primetime Emmy nominations. The star began his film career mostly taking on supporting roles in Steven Spielberg’s Lincoln in 2012, Inside Llewyn Davis in 2013, and Hungry Hearts in 2014.

Adam Driver has made a name for himself as one of the most sought-after actors in Hollywood. However, before becoming a famous actor, Driver served in the Marine Corps for several years. In a recent interview, the Logan Lucky star dispelled a common myth about military service and shared his experiences as a former serviceman.
Adam Driver joined the military after September 11
There are lots of actors who have put their acting careers on hold to serve their country. This was most noticeable during World War II, but it has happened in every war since then. One example is Driver, who joined the United States Marine Corps at 18 after the September 11 attack. The Marriage Story star served for over two years as a Mortar man with the 1st Battalion, 1st Marines, before being medically discharged due to injuries sustained in a mountain biking accident.

Hilary Swank is one of Hollywood’s most acclaimed actors, with more than one Oscar to her name. As you might be aware, "Daisy Jones & the Six" star Riley Keough hails from a high-profile Hollywood family. Though she had phenomenal musical influences growing up surrounded by so many professional musicians, Keough found her passion in acting after devouring "Moulin Rouge" and "The Dangerous Lives of Altar Boys" at an early age. Keough debuted in 2010's "The Runaways," starring alongside Dakota Fanning and Kristen Stewart, and she hasn't shown any signs of slowing down since.
Having several career-defining projects under her belt - including Steven Soderbergh's "The Girlfriend Experience," "Mad Max: Fury Road," "Logan Lucky," and more - the 33-year-old actor has taken on her biggest role yet as the title character in "Daisy Jones & the Six." Based on Taylor Jenkins Reid's 2019 bestseller of the same name, the miniseries chronicles the journey of an iconic '70s rock group to the top and their sudden fall.

Though you’ll undoubtedly forget many times while you’re watching it, Prime Video’s music drama Daisy Jones & The Six is not based on a true story. At least, not really. Adapted from Taylor Jenkins Reid’s novel of the same name, this series about the titular band was inspired by the real life drama of classic ’70s rock group Fleetwood Mac.
While Fleetwood Mac is very much real (and great!), Daisy Jones & The Six is not real (though also great!). Still, that does not make the Behind the Music-esque drama they experience in these 10 episodes feel any less real. Contributing to that sense of verisimilitude is that the cast of Daisy Jones & The Six all fit their roles to a tee.

Magic Mike’s Last Dance is a movie directed by Steven Soderbergh starring Channing Tatum and Salma Hayek.
Good old Mike returns with his sculpted abs from the hand of the director everyone loves for this farewell, not very spectacular cinematographically, but fun and entertaining.

Mike works as a waiter until a rich woman takes him to London to, together, form a group of male strippers.
Movie Review Magic Mike’s Last Dance
Correct, very correct and knowing that there is a certain Soderbergh in charge of the project, but as not everything can be done by the good director and “one-man band”, he has his always good partners who accompany him: this time, same as always, Channing Tatum, a very good actor for comedy, and Salma Hayek, who does a bit of everything and does everything well.

Riley Keough turned up in Hollywood on Thursday night to attend the world premiere of her new Prime Video TV series, Daisy Jones & the Six, marking her first red carpet appearance since the sudden death of her mother, Lisa Marie Presley, on Jan. 12. It was quite the scene, too, as the Tcl Chinese Theatre was packed with guests dressed to match the ’70s glam dress code while Keough and her co-stars were supported by a producing team that included Oscar-winner Reese Witherspoon.
Keough, wearing Schiaparelli Couture and accompanied by husband Ben Smith-Petersen, toplines the series as Daisy Jones, the co-lead singer of a ’70s rock band. Based on the best-selling novel by Taylor Jenkins Reid, Daisy Jones & the Six details the rise and precipitous fall of that band, from early days toiling away at small gigs through a meteoric rise that culminates in a sold-out show at Chicago’s Soldier Field.

It’s Super Bowl weekend, as the Philadelphia Eagles take on the Kansas City Chiefs with pop star Rihanna providing the half-time entertainment. Then again, Tuesday is Valentine’s Day, and there’s a chance that Saturday date night could be a good excuse for couples to see one of this weekend’s two romantic offerings. Read on for Gold Derby’s box office preview.
Coming into the weekend is Channing Tatum’s “Magic Mike’s Last Dance,” who is no stranger to the Super Bowl weekend, having starred in “Dear John” opposite Amanda Seyfried way back in 2010, which launched on Super Bowl weekend to the tune of 30.5 million. “G.I. Joe is the codename for America’s daring, highly trained, special mission force.” So declares the voiceover in the theme song for G.I. Joe, the cartoon show that dominated after-school televisions in the 1980s. And by that criteria, Channing Tatum seems like the perfect choice to play Duke, leader of the Joes. Is he highly trained? Of course! Have you seen Step Up or Magic Mike? Is he daring? Anyone who caught his cameo in This is the End would give a resounding “yes”!
But the song also tells us that G.I. Joe “never gives up” and is “always there.” On that account, Tatum might fall a little bit short.
Recently, Tatum agreed to strap on a lie detector and answer questions for Vanity Fair. And to test the actor’s resolve, Vanity Fair went right for the tough questions: “You played Duke in G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra.

The heist genre is always interesting because, despite its typically sleek, stylized nature, it usually brings a sense of comfort to the viewer. A movie like the blue-collar-tinged “Logan Lucky,” for example, wouldn’t be described as sleek — and perhaps not the same type of “aspirational” presentation of the criminal lifestyle that something like Soderbergh’s “Ocean’s” franchise is all about — but at the same time, it’s comforting for the same reasons as other heist media are. Because when it comes to the heist genre, the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. When everything comes together, without fail, even the most rudimentary heist films and shows are still successes; because seeing the full picture and re-contextualizing everything is always satisfying. And Netflix’s new series “Kaleidoscope” fits that bill, but with a twist.

When you think about top-tier performers who routinely put their bodies on the line for the sake of their roles, two names will probably come up in rapid succession: Tom Cruise and Daniel Craig. But where Cruise gets most of the headlines for gleefully defying death again and again in the "Mission: Impossible" franchise and other mega-blockbusters, Craig's acclaimed run as James Bond was briefly marred by the actor's less-than-flattering comments in the immediate aftermath of wrapping production on 2015's "Spectre." Though he eventually walked back those statements and went out in a blaze of glory with a fond sendoff in "No Time to Die," the sentiment remained the same -- these films took a lot out of Craig, both physically and mentally.
It's no wonder that his career outside of Bond has run the gamut of (comparatively) more fun and laid-back roles, whether it be the hilariously unhinged criminal...

"No Time to Die" couldn't have made it more clear that Daniel Craig has hung his Walther Ppk up for good. The mantle of James Bond, which Craig had held since 2006 with "Casino Royale," is open to go to someone else, but that only gives the "Layer Cake" actor more of an opportunity to branch out even further. Craig's versatility as an actor has single-handedly shielded him from befalling the fate of being typecast as 007. Just look at the success of "Knives Out," for instance.
Rian Johnson's quick-witted whodunnit became the smash hit sensation of the 2019 holiday season. A large reason why it was so revered was because of Craig's charismatic presence as the perceptive Benoit Blanc. At that point, it was only a matter of time until Johnson and Craig teamed up again to make a series of films with this character at the forefront. Thankfully, we...

Daniel Craig’s jump into superstardom by donning the 007 moniker was cloaked in the notion of a return to the Connery-era grit of James Bond with Casino Royale. Having been seen prior in movies like Layer Cake and Road to Perdition and eventually films like The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, the Bond actor had sealed his image as a dramatic actor. Craig would show his comic prowess full stop as he would star in a comedy like Logan Lucky and play the straight-laced detective in a wild murder mystery in Knives Out.
Recently, Craig is making headlines thanks to a new, funky Vodka commercial that showcases the star twisting the night away. Variety reports on the image-changing effort from Craig as he’s directed by Thor: Love and Thunder director Taika Waititi. The ad sports a song by Waititi’s wife, pop singer Rita Ora, and features his signature humor.

If the new Belvedere Vodka commercial, starring Daniel Craig and directed by Taika Waititi, were a scene out of Craig’s latest film, it would be the best scene in the movie, or at least the one that everyone’s talking about. Then again, no one would mistake it for a movie scene. The commercial has a postmodern strike-a-pose viral aesthetic — it‘s two minutes of bliss frozen in time. As Craig saunters and dances through a swank hotel in Paris, it becomes the rare commercial in which a movie star isn’t being used to sell a product so much as he’s using the commercial to sell a shift in his own image. Yes, the extended spot is hawking vodka, and Craig probably got a paycheck that leaves most movie-star paychecks in the dust. Yet that’s all kind of beside the point. The commercial is Craig’s...

Inspired by the real supernatural phenomena that writer-director William Mark McCullough and his family endured in their home, A Savannah Haunting is a dread-filled, slow-burn supernatural drama about a mother grappling with her guilt stemming from the tragic drowning of her youngest daughter.

Harnessing the power afforded an Oscar winner, let alone someone with two little gold men on their mantel, is a delicate endeavor. On the one hand, an Academy Award is forever. It’s an honor that becomes an honorific — attached to your name from the moment it’s won until well after it can’t be attained again. But despite its seemingly timeless distinction, an Oscar can still fade along with the star it’s tied to — becoming a descriptor in name only, without the capacity to command the attention it once did.
Hilary Swank, a two-time winner of the film world’s top prize, and Tom McCarthy, a three-time nominee who took home the trophy once himself, are in no danger of losing the respect earned from works like “Boys Don’t Cry,” “Million Dollar Baby,” and “Logan Lucky,” as well as “Spotlight,” “Up,” “The Visitor,” and “The Station Agent.

Rian Johnson is in his element right now. The potential for more "Knives Out" stories beyond the original film was so appealing to Johnson that "Glass Onion" climbed to the top of the myriad projects the director has in the pipeline. Initial reactions to the film praise it as bigger and better than the previous installment, with Craig as Blanc delivering another funny, charming performance."Glass Onion" and its already-greenlit sequel won't be the last of the Benoit Blanc mysteries if it's up to Rian Johnson. The Movies: "No Sudden Move" and "Kimi"
Where You Can Stream Them: HBO Max
The Pitch: In "No Sudden Move," director Steven Soderbergh returns to the heist genre with an all-star cast and a home invasion gone wrong in '50s Detroit. In "Kimi," Soderbergh marries technology fears with a familiar scenario centered on a homebound "voice stream interpreter" (Zoë Kravitz) who overhears something she shouldn't have.
Why They're Essential Viewing: After retiring and un-retiring, there were a few years there where Soderbergh was focused more on TV projects like his Cinemax series "The Knick." It's been a while since we saw a movie of his enjoy a theatrical run -- thanks in part, perhaps, to the pandemic he predicted with his 2011 thriller "Contagion.

You ever notice how HBO’s releases tend to do the heavy lifting in HBO Max’s content library? That makes plenty of sense given that HBO has a track record of producing hits well before the streaming era even began. Well, a similar concept is now playing out over on Hulu. Like many monthly releases before it, Hulu’s list of new releases for August 2022 is highlighted by a whole bunch of FX TV shows.

It all starts early on with season 2 of the delightful comedy Reservation Dogs on Aug. 3. That is followed up by the docuseries Children of the Underground on Aug. 13, Little Demon on Aug. 26, and The Patient of Aug. 30. The most interesting of the bunch,...

Bateman left the project due to creative differences, which altered the shooting schedule and meant that Evans couldn’t complete work on “Project Artemis” and “Pain Hustlers,” his upcoming Netflix feature with Emily Blunt.
Plot details for “Project Artemis” are being kept very hush-hush and on the Qt, but Bateman did reveal to Variety earlier this year that the film was set around the moon landing. He also described “Project Artemis” as a working title, so don’t get too attached to it!

It’s been a decade since Lena Dunham was the voice of her generation. Or, well, a voice of a generation.
HBO series “Girls” revolutionized the TV landscape when it premiered on April 15, 2012. The series, created by Dunham, who also starred in, executive-produced, wrote, and directed the show, first debuted at SXSW before its TV premiere and eventual five Emmy Award nominations that year. Jenni Konner served as co-showrunner and producer while Judd Apatow also executive produced.
“Girls” stars Dunham as 20-something struggling writer Hannah Horvath, who has one foot in adolescence thanks to an allowance from her parents. After she’s informed she’s been financially cut off two years after graduating from a liberal arts college, Hannah embarks on navigating New York City by experiencing one mistake at a time.
Jemima Kirke, Zosia Mamet, and Allison Williams play Hannah’s eccentric and at times codependent circle of friends.

From an early embrace of day-and-date releases to self-financing and releasing to being among the first filmmakers to use Red digital cameras, Steven Soderbergh has long been unafraid to experiment with new technologies. So when he first talked to Roman Coppola about supporting emerging filmmakers through Coppola’s blockchain-based nonprofit Decentralized Pictures, Soderbergh was similarly eager to see for himself if blockchain’s promise of revolutionary problem-solving could extend into entertainment.
Soderbergh’s production company Extension 765 on Tuesday launched a 300,000 pot of money available on Dcp’s platform. The Andrews/Bernard Award will support multiple filmmakers with finishing funds for English-language fiction features or shorts. Soderbergh says he and Coppola share an interest in avenues for boosting filmmakers that don’t necessarily lead to studios, and he’s eager to help up-and-coming-talent.
“As with a lot of things I’ve done, it’s kind of an experiment,” Soderbergh said...
