The news broadcasts about the mayoral race reference voters heading to the polls ad exit polls. Oregonians vote by mail in all elections so no one "goes to the polls." Also, the idea that Sean Renard needs a family to make him more electable does not accurately reflect Portland culture. In 2008, Portland became the first major metropolitan city to elect an openly gay mayor, Sam Adams, and another long-time mayor, Vera Katz was a divorcee when she was elected.
It makes no sense for Adalind to pose as Renard's long-time wife. She only defected to him weeks or even months after his campaign was already in full swing. There would have been plenty of fluff pieces about his personal life in the media by then.
