We’re just weeks away from getting to watch the brand new DreamWorks Animation movie that features a script written by Charlie Kauffman. In anticipation of its release, Netflix has confirmed the full cast lineup for Orion and the Dark plus released a new trailer and stills.
Announced last year at the Annecy Film Festival, this will mark DreamWorks Animation’s second major Netflix Original movie for the streamer following Trollhunters: Rise of the Titans from Guillermo del Toro.
Based on the book by Emma Yarlett, the movie comes from director Sean Charmatz and is about a young elementary school kid who is afraid of everything, including bees, the ocean, clowns, and countless other things. Amongst the biggest things he’s afraid of is the dark, which comes alive and whisks Orion away on an adventure.

Cobie Smulders is teasing what fans can expect from Marvel and Disney+’s upcoming series Secret Invasion.
In a conversation with People, the How I Met Your Mother alum said that the show is much darker in tone than the previous Marvel Cinematic Universe ones have been.
“It’s hard to know who to trust,” Smulders said, pointing out that Secret Invasion provides insight into the lives of agents who are working to keep Earth safe.
“Now, there is a major discovery of the Skrulls,” she continued. “Maria [Hill] has been trying to get Nick Fury back to Earth to help with a multitude of problems, but when the Skrulls become public knowledge, it finally gets his attention.”
The Friends From College star also explained Marvel creating new content for streaming services allows fans to get to spend more time with characters and get to know them and their backstories better than they typically do.

Apple TV+’s Platonic knows perfectly well that it’s going to draw comparisons to When Harry Met Sally. The characters themselves call out the parallels within the first ten minutes, when Will (Seth Rogen) insists the ’80s classic “proves” it’s possible for him to remain platonic with his ex-bff Sylvia (Rose Byrne) — only to be disabused of the notion when it’s pointed out to him that the film actually ends with Harry and Sally getting hitched.
In truth, though, the When Harry Met Sally references are a bit of a feint. Platonic, created by Nicholas Stoller and Francesca Delbanco (Netflix’s Friends from College), is less concerned with whether men and women can maintain friendships in general than it is with what Will and Sylvia are getting out of this particular friendship at this particular moment. And while clean-cut answers prove hard to come by, the series...

Being the award-winning comedian that he is, Keegan Michael Key has a pretty high bar when it comes to comedy projects. And with a resume like his, it's not hard to understand why. After closing out his sketch comedy run on "Key and Peele," the actor went on to star in titles like "Friends From College," "Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers," and "Schmigadoon!" It's a wild rage of tones and subgenres because those details aren't how Key makes his decisions. Instead, he searches out projects that intrigue him.
"There has to be something special," Key told Collider during a September interview. "There has to be some kind of twist to it. The meta nature of the content is really what drew me to this project."
Key is talking about "Reboot," a new Hulu sitcom from Steven Levitan that is self-aware in all the best ways, perfectly lending itself to the...

Surprisingly, the idea to make the first studio LGBTQ romantic comedy did not originally spawn from its gay writer/star Billy Eichner, but rather his co-writer and director Nicholas Stoller. Stoller, who first cast Eichner in “Neighbors 2,” saw the potential early on when he cast him for a second time in his Netflix series “Friends from College.”
“I loved him from from ‘Billy on the Street,’” Stoller said during an interview for IndieWire’s Filmmaker Toolkit podcast. “And then we screened the first episode of that show in a movie theater and every time he was on screen, the audience exploded with laughter. And I was like, ‘Oh, this guy is like a movie star, which was really exciting.’” Soon after Stoller approach Eichner to see if he’d be willing to collaborate on something bigger. “I said, ‘Would you want ever wanna write a comedy vehicle for you? “Bros” is another R-rated, envelope-pushing look at a man in a state of arrested development from Nicholas Stoller. It’s the kind of look at male neurosis, usually the kind of mania the pops up a decade shy of mid-life crisis time, that has been the director’s stock in trade in comedies like “Forgetting Sarah Marshall,” “Get Him to the Greek” and “Neighbors.”
But this film has an important twist. It has an entirely LGBTQ cast and centers on two gay men with serious commitment issues — a stretch for Stoller, who is heterosexual. So he turned to Billy Eichner, who he knew from working together on “Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising” and “Friends From College,” to help him fashion an authentically queer “meet cute.” “Bros,” the culmination of a multi-year writing process that Stoller likens to therapy. When it debuts on Friday, “Bros” will make history as the first major...

Billy Eichner made history with his gay rom-com "Bros" from Universal Pictures, but if co-star Luke Macfarlane has his way, the stereotype-smashing comedy won't be the only venture in this world. While not yet available in theaters, "Bros" recently screened at the Toronto International Film Festival to rave reviews, which had journalists on the scene already asking the cast and creative team about the possibility of a sequel. Following the film's red carpet premiere event in New York City, Variety spoke with Macfarlane about the future of "Bros" and learned that a sequel is certainly not off the table.
"Billy and I've been joking about [the possible sequel], I'm not sure what it would be," Macfarlane said. "The truth is, in any relationship, those early months are the best, and then the reality of life sets in and you got to figure out how you're going to spend all that time with somebody.

“Bros” star and writer Billy Eichner is clarifying the comments he made in a Variety cover story that many perceived to be a dig at Hulu’s queer rom-com “Fire Island.”
“This is not an indie movie,” the actor originally said. “This is not some streaming thing which feels disposable, or which is like one of a million Netflix shows. I needed to appreciate that ‘This is a historic moment, and somehow, you’re at the center of it. You helped create it.’”
“Bros,” which hails from Universal Studios, is the first gay romantic comedy from a major studio set for theatrical distribution, whereas “Fire Island” was a Searchlight Pictures production that premiered exclusively on Hulu on June 3.

Billy Eichner had one lesson he wanted to impart to Nick Stoller as they attempted to write what would become the first gay romantic comedy release by a major studio: Love is, in fact, not love. “I knew it was such a huge opportunity,” says Eichner, the star and co-writer of Bros, due out Sept. 30. “But what I told him right off the bat is, ‘If we’re going to do this, you have to understand that this is not as simple as doing When Harry Met Sally and swapping in two men.

A natural disaster reunites Darlene with her therapist in TVLine’s exclusive sneak peek at The Conners‘ big wedding episode.
Airing Wednesday at 9/8c, “The Wedding of Dan and Louise” promises a “far-from-perfect walk down the aisle.” But first, the Conner clan will have to make it to church on time, which is easier said than done as a tornado approaches Lanford — you know, the kind of tornado that only touches down once every 32 years.

Much like Sally Rooney's first two books - Conversations With Friends and Normal People - Beautiful World, Where Are You (out Sept. 7) traces the relationships of young Irish people muddling their way through perfectly fixable communication breakdowns. This is not to say Beautiful World, Where Are You is exactly like its predecessors, though. In this story, the subjects are satisfyingly adult. Their worries about the world - and their sexual escapades - are decidedly adult, too.
Beautiful World, Where Are You opens with Alice, a blunt spoken and successful author (and seeming proxy for Sally Rooney). We meet up with her after a stay in a psychiatric ward, spurred by an overwhelming book publicity tour. She's just relocated to a quiet Irish coastal town to recover, when she fires up a dating app and meets mercurial warehouse worker Felix. Alice's two closest friends - quietly personable and beautiful former...

Netflix has produced many hit TV shows over the past seven years, ever since they started pumping out their own original programming. However, the streaming service has developed a reputation for not letting its series go on for too long. Fans know to be wary of getting attached to their favorite new Netflix shows as they could be unceremoniously cancelled after one or two seasons.
Earlier today, for instance, Hilary Swank vehicle Away was given the chop by the company after just a single outing. This makes it the 56th original series that Netflix has cancelled. That number only includes shows that were original to the platform and produced in-house, so it doesn’t count pick-ups like Lucifer, for example. Those series luckily enough to end on the creators’ own terms, such as House of Cards, are likewise not included. Shows that were axed by Netflix before being picked up elsewhere,...
