This is definitely the best episode of Shadowhunters yet. As someone who has read The Mortal Instruments, I was very pleased by everything. Starting with Simon, Luke, and Maia, I loved how the boys immediately knew to not trust the Seelie Queen and recognize that she had taken Maia. When they went to save her, once again, the Queen sent chills down my spine with her words. Sarah Hyland is fantastic in this role! The scene where the Seelie Queen lets them go was great as well, and really led into a later scene perfectly. I also really like the story-line where the Queen is obsessed with Simon. I'm excited to see where that leads us in season 3.
As far as the demon attack, I must say I loved Alec, Izzy, and Magnus working together to seal the rift to Edom. The scene on the beach was one of my favorites of the episode. While on the topic of Alec and Magnus, I was ecstatic to see them get back together. The scene in the alley was incredible and truly heartfelt.
Now, onto Clary and Jace in Idris. I was not surprised that Consul Malachi was the traitor, and his performance was chilling. I love Clary and Jace's chemistry, and this episode solidified how much the care for each other. When Jace died, I will admit that I started sobbing. I had a feeling he would die, but that entire scene blew me away. That was my favorite scene. Katherine and Matthew's performances in this scene stood out above everything. And when Valentine raised Raziel...I have no words. These whole 10 or so minutes were beyond believable. I don't know what else to say. (By the way Jace was brought back to life thanks to Raziel!)
Also, for all of you book readers, are you excited to see a certain woman join the story? I know I am! I am so hyped for season 3! I cannot wait to see what else the show has in store for us. 10/10
