These slightly over 4.5 minutes we have here are the official music video for the Toto song Africa and this was directed by Irish filmmaker Steve Barron when he was still very young in his mid-20s at the beginning of his career and long before becoming an Emmy nominee. It is from the year 1982, so had its 35th anniversary last year and I feel this was great fun to listen to at times and I am not shocked one bit it has almost 300 clicks on Youtube. The Africa references (girl with Black color, the globe/library, the special kind of drums) are honestly nothing out of the ordinary, but the video's simplicity still makes it worth checking out instead of just going for the record and do without the visual side. And besides, even if I got no clue at all what it means, but I really love the chorus here and it effortlessly gets me into the groove. Closer to 4 out of 5 than to 2 out of 5, but eventually I'll settle in the middle. A classic song and you really wanna check this one out. Very much recommended.
Addition 2 weeks later: I cannot get the song out of my head and been listening to it a lot since my original review, so I adjust my review and give it an 8 out of 10 instead of a 6. Go check it out.
