All American gave a proper goodbye to the late Kamar de los Reyes during Monday night’s episode.
The actor, who died in December after a brief battle with cancer, joined the cast in Season 4 as Coastal California’s Coach Montes on the CW series. He appeared in the Season 6 premiere, but that was all he was able to film before his death.
His character has been inexplicably absent from the rest of the season, though the other characters — specifically Cody Christian’s Asher Adams — have referenced him a number of times. While Monday’s episode didn’t bring Coach Montes back in any form, it did wrap the character’s storyline by revealing he’d be taking a job with the NFL.
Asher was able to share a phone call with Coach Montes to say goodbye to his boss and mentor.
The episode also featured a tribute card “in loving memory” of the actor.

The days of the old CW network are over. Last season, Nexstar took over running the smallest broadcast network and most of the network's remaining original scripted series came to a close. Nexstar is choosing to focus on airing inexpensive acquired programming and unscripted shows in order to make the network profitable. The CW shows depend on ratings more than ever before and have to earn their keep to stay on the air. How many shows will be cancelled or renewed during the 2023-24 season? Stay tuned.

The game’s not over yet — The CW has renewed All American for a seventh season. The catch? Viewers will have to wait until next year to see football star Spencer James (Daniel Ezra) and his teammates back on TV. The news comes after Season 6, which is currently airing, was expanded from 13 to 15 episodes in a rare move for the network.
“Through six seasons, All American remains a top-performer for The CW as the network’s most-watched series across all linear and digital platforms,” Brad Schwartz, president of entertainment at The CW, said via a press release.

The CW Network has given a 13-episode Season 7 renewal to its flagship drama series All American to premiere in 2025. Additionally, the network today announced pickups for Season 11 of unscripted magic competition series Penn & Teller: Fool Us and Season 4 of The Chosen.
The All American news is not surprising since, as Deadline reported, the college drama had been in the strongest position of any remaining legacy CW scripted series to continue.
All American, whose Season 6 renewal was stipulated in Nexstar’s deal to acquire the CW, is a top ratings performer, and it also is the most economically feasible to produce for its studio, Warner Bros. One of the more surprising elements of The CW’s fall schedule unveiled last month was that there was no room for Penn & Teller: Fool Us – one of the longest-running anchors of the network’s unscripted slate.
That’s changed now as the network has renewed the show for Season 11.
It is one of a handful of renewals at the network; The CW also picked up All American for a seventh season and dated season four of religious drama The Chosen.
The magic competition show is centered around the legendary duo, who invite aspiring magicians are invited to perform their best trick to try and fool them. Anyone who succeeds wins the right to perform with Penn & Teller in their show at the Rio Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. The CW’s All American celebrated a monumental milestone on Monday night (May 27) as the show reached 100 episodes, a huge accomplishment in the current ever-changing television landscape. Titled “100%,” the episode was directed by series star Daniel Ezra, who plays Spencer James, and saw a nostalgic trip down memory lane as Spencer revisited all the football fields he’d ever played on. Some old friends also joined him along the way. Speaking to Deadline, Ezra said showrunner Nkechi Okoro Carroll called him about directing the milestone episode, noting that it was a no-brainer decision. “[Carroll] called me to say, ‘So this season we’re going to hit our 100th episode. We think it’s only fitting that you direct it.’ But she warned me, ‘It’s going to be a lot of work. There is no scenario where you’re going to be light in that episode,'” Ezra recalled. Ezra,...

The CW used to be the ideal network for soapy teen dramas, sci-fi vampires and werewolf series, and DC superhero shows.
Now, it's a disappointing shell of those days.
The Vampire Diaries premiered back in 2009 and led to two additional spinoffs, while DC's Arrow began in 2012 and also began a massive franchise.
The CW used to include soapy dramas or sci-fi series, such as Supernatural, which launched Jared Padalecki's career.

With the Riverdale finale in August 2023, The CW officially entered what seemed to be a new era of content. While some other series were still wrapping up, network executives shared ambitious plans to finally switch audiences, make the network profitable, and join ABC, NBC, CBS, and Fox as a major network.
Whether The CW has achieved the financial goals it set for itself remains to be seen. What is obvious is the change in the series lineup for the 2024/2025 season, with many TV series either left out as there was no confirmation of their renewal, or very different from what the channel used to show.
Is Walker Renewed for Season 5?
Now it seems that The CW is about to cut all ties with the star of one of the most popular shows the network has ever produced, Supernatural. Season 4 of Jared Padalecki's Walker will be the last to be produced by the network.

Jared Padalecki’s Cordell Walker may be riding off into the proverbial sunset. Upfront week, during which the CW unveiled its fall 2024-25 schedule, came and went without decisions on the network’s legacy drama series, including flagships All American and Walker.
As a result, Walker has started breaking down the sets in Austin, TX. The crew was informed of the decision on Friday, a day after the CW schedule reveal, sources tell Deadline. The dismantling is already in full force, with crew members taking other jobs.
While the move is not permanent — If a renewal ultimately comes, the sets can be put up, with producer CBS Studios saving money on stage rental in the interim — it illustrates how close to a cancellation Walker is.

All American‘s 100th episode won’t air until next week, but the show hit another milestone in the meantime on Monday: the return of Taye Diggs, who reprised his role of Billy Baker in a highly sentimental outing.
At the time of Billy’s tragic death in Season 5, Diggs told TVLine that he would “100%” be open to playing the character again via flashbacks or dream sequences — and Billy’s appearances on Monday were perhaps a combination of the two. Spoiler Alert: This post contains spoilers from “Kids See Ghosts,” the May 20 episode of The CW’s “All American.”
Billy Baker lives on… ish. Taye Diggs’ character, who died in a bus accident midway through Season 5 of the drama, returned to “All American” during the May 20 episode.
At the beginning of the Season 6 episode, Olivia (Samantha Logan) struggled to finish her book about Billy, her late father, as Jordan (Michael Evans Behling) found himself at a crossroads about his possible future in the NFL. Meanwhile, Spencer (Daniel Ezra) realized he had much more going for himself than football when a young high school player asked for his help. Recognizing how much they needed their father — or father figure, in Spencer’s case — Laura (Monet Mazur) decided to give her kids letters that Billy had written for them to open when they graduated college. Simone Hicks plans to “dominate this season” when All American: Homecoming returns — but fresh footage from the upcoming episodes has us thinking the season might dominate her.
In the exclusive Season 3 trailer embedded above, Simone’s renewed determination on the tennis court quickly gives way to a potential injury (“Something’s off with my swing,” she worries aloud) and a seemingly formidable opponent from another university. Plus, Simone’s personal life seems similarly complicated: Although we briefly see her in bed with (presumably) one of her two suitors from last season’s cliffhanger, the conversation she’s having via voiceover — “I did what you asked.

The CW announced its fall lineup Thursday, with the return of Superman & Lois, two new game shows based on classic board games and the new scripted entry Joan, a limited series starring Game of Thrones alum Sophie Turner, among others.
The lineup comes after Nexstar’s acquisition of the network in 2022, and amid a new focus of becoming profitable and reaching a broader audience. That, in turn, has led to fewer U.S.-produced scripted dramas and a need to be scrappy and cost-conscious, as the linear audience declines and many other broadcast networks, including The CW, are seeing the need to slash budgets.
In light of this, The CW has also leaned into the acquisition of secondary sports rights, game shows and new shows in which the network owns all rights worldwide and therefore can profit off of the programs on streaming, unlike with its legacy shows All American...

The CW is looking to keep acquiring sports rights and is eyeing an expansion on Sundays as well as potential team-ups with other rights holders, President Dennis Miller said in an interview with Deadline.

It’s been less than two years since the close of Nexstar’s acquisition of The CW and the network’s primetime slate could not look more different.

Look through The CW‘s newly announced schedule for the Fall 2024-2025 season and you’ll notice that Walker and All American are missing from the lineup. Does this mean the series are canceled? The CW bosses Dennis Miller and Brad Schwartz addressed the shows’ notable omissions. Walker and All American are two of The CW’s most successful shows and some of the only titles to survive the massive programming overhaul the network carried out in recent years. Miller and Schwartz said on May 16, the day of The CW’s upfront presentation during which the network provides programming updates, that decisions about the fate of Walker and All American will be made “soon.” “We didn’t feel any need to rush to meet some Upfront deadline,” Schwartz, the President of Entertainment at The CW, told Deadline. “All American is on the air right now, so we’re seeing how that does.

All American and Walker are two of The CW’s biggest shows.
So, it was somewhat of a surprise that neither show has been handed a renewal and a spot on the network’s fall schedule, which was unveiled this morning.
The CW bosses Dennis Miller and Brad Schwartz explained why this is the case but said that there are ongoing conversations with the studios behind these shows with Schwartz promising that a decision on All American will happen “soon”.
Both shows are expensive and as Deadline has explained before, financials for all three homegrown dramas are challenging, particularly for Walker, which won’t be able to continue unless its very low license fee is raised by the network.
