What's next Mary Louise?
sorianocamilo228 July 2019
An intriguing episode, which leaves all possibilities open for the remainder of the series. It was good to see again the kids have more participation in the story, they share the most emotional moments of the episode. The last minutes are genuinely great and the most exciting, it changes the perspective of the whole season. What more can we expect from Mary Louise?

I am so obsessed with this show. This episode's ending has made me curious what was that? All the actors have done amazing job mainly Meryl's performance.

Kill me

Warning: Spoilers
Each episode of Big Little Lies is directed differently from the other where you can see more than one point of view. This one focuses on how Ed views his relationship with Madeline, and how he feels about it. It also shows us how Jane is trying to overcome her sexual problems and still failing. I personally feel that Kory is going to turn out to be Perry's brother and he's working with Mary Louise to find out how his brother died. Bonnie on the other hand with her mother's condition and everyone convincing her that she's not okay and she needs help, and the fact that she knows that but still denying it because she's trying to hide their big little lie, she gives up again and goes to the police again where she's surprised by Kory leaving the station. Tori and Joseph seem to be getting their revenge on Madeline. Tori buys Ed a drink and seduces him. And finally, Celeste is still struggling with the curstody of her children against Mary Luise. And Rhenata is still on the verge of losing it because of the people around her who keep destroying her perfect image that she drew for herself, that she built this great rich and happy family where its all sunshine and rainbows.

Wow, that ending...

Warning: Spoilers
When Celeste spoke to Max and Josh at the dining room table, & Josh called her a b*tch... Nicole's acting in that moment - I felt that! Also, when they were all talking on the bed & one of them said: "we can protect you"... ughhh, how cute!!! I just can't! Also, loved them two standing up for Ziggy (despite violence not being the answer).

The scene with Madeline and Ed in the car, honestly... Adam's such an underrated dramatic actor. I really wish he got/gets more dramatic roles, cause he's so good. I also really loved how Chloe gave Ed a hug! My boy needed that hug. But... on a side note - Tori... girl... lay off Ed!

Lastly, what on Earth was up with the ending, not only with Ed, but like, that Corey bit?!? How sad for Jane if he really is a cop.

Anyway, again, I can't wait for next week. The promo as usual, looks hella juicy.

Masterpiece.

Beautiful cinematography, great acting and a suspenseful episode. It's been a great season two so far however, I did expect a bit more going one with some of the characters. Season one was very busy and entertaining whereas this one is more calm and feels more spontaneous. I love this tv-series and I think they've done a phenomenal job casting. Zoë Kravitz is so enchanting, and Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon are so powerful. Shailene Woodley's voice is so soft and kind, the loveliest. Please make another season of this great story and keep this universe with these iconic women alive! This and Sharp Objects are fantastic pieces of cinematography, might be the best I've seen so far. The story really captivates you and you want to know more about each character. Just LOVE IT.

Powerful, well edited and genuine authenticity vibrating all the way through! Every episode is 10 out of 10, I love it no matter what and I'm sticking by that. Love everything that's occurring with characters bad or good, it's done so well! Also every scene with Meryl Streep, Zoe Kravitz, and Nicole Kidman is great.

I wish time would slow down when I watch this show!
silverpinkcity8 August 2021
Seriously, while I'm watching this show, I don't want it to end. I don't ever feel bored. I am just as engaged in season 2 as I was in season 1. And the addition of Merle Streep? Genius! Sometimes I feel like I'm just waiting for her to appear on screen with her snide, not-holding-anything-back, biting remarks!

The cinematography...the choice of music...just so perfect. What I really enjoy, is all the different personalities on this show, and the way they all meld together...and of course, the way all the actors on the show play them all so beautifully.

The problems in these peoples' relationships....the difficult times with their kids...the emotions...this is the stuff I find interesting in a show! I'm so tired of fake fantasy vampires and witches and Vikings and super-heroes taking over the airwaves. Give me "real" people and "real" families with "real" problems. That's what keeps me watching.

Would I recommend this show? Absolutely! I only hope they have a season 3....

Frustrating
gridoon202411 July 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Each scene in this episode is well-done and well-acted, but they don't add up to a whole, nor do they progress the story at all. And the episode ends just when it starts to get really interesting; it's as if the best part begins when the screen goes black! **1/2 out of 4.

Release the Arnold Cut!
safenoe29 December 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Jean-Marc Vallée directed all episodes in series 1, and Andrea Arnold directed all from series 2. Well it was revealed in July 2019 that Andrea lost control with Jean-Marc being brought in to manage the edits. I feel bad for Andrea, who is British, that her authority was usurped. An ironically bitter twist on female empowerment that Big Little Lies embodies.

Anyway, here there's much going on. I'm a big fan of Chicago, and hearing the yoga class's rendition of If you leave me now was stirring for sure. Adam Scott is a fine actor, and maybe there can be a Big Little Lies 3 where the husbands and boyfriends of the Monterey 5 are front and center.

Will the Monterey Five crack over their season 1 finale secret?

At the very end of the credits, guess what? There's a special thanks to Jean-Marc Vallée .

Release the Arnold cut!

Warning: Spoilers
This show is a mess and this episode in particular was a big filler of nothing. Clearly, this season should've been a three episode run.
