Dead Presidents (1995)
Foul Language to a T in this Slang language movie
This Movie Contains the F word 247 times throughout the film, Its very violent and has no respect for the American language. The only Reason I watched this film was because it was one of the Films by Roger Birnbaum's "Caravan Pictures" Production Company (One of my favorite Production Companies), this was its sour apple. After hearing the F word constantly in the dialogue I rewinded the video and tallied all 247 times the F word was spoken,(Using Closed Captioning) No logical person would say an epithet in every sentence even 3 or 4 variations in one sentence, unless they were seriously upset at someone. but this is through out the film like it was a regular word, which it isn't. I know these are African-American characters, but the African-American's I know don't swear in every sentence they speak. The movie was about bank robbery but i just couldn't get over all the F words being spewed out one after another. What a lame R rated film that stereotypes African-Americans as people who can't speak a sentence without adding a swear word into it.
Where in Time Is Carmen Sandiego? (1996)
Spin off that is harder to beat and harder to understand.
Lynne Thigpen is the only returning cast member from "Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego" as the Chief. The Only problem with this show is the limited set and no studio audience (or no visible one) but Because of the chronological tie breaker (To find out who the winner is) is by far the most difficult ever in a game show for kids especially for when it does for historical events in Chronological order (Which order from the most recent to the earliest (the loot is this one) but the difficulty doesn't end there The winner has to go through platforms answering questions about what they have learned on the program in a Minute, if they get it wrong they have to move the door open doing some physical lever pulley like thing (Time waster) If they win it (a couple of times a contestant has won but most lose)They get a set of encyclopedias or a computer with subscription to the Encyclopedia Britanica website. Rockapella doesn't appear but there is the engine crew (they lipsync and dance bad for a 1996 dance group) the song for this show is worse than the original which was far better. Contestants answer questions related to events and time periods where the crook has traveled to then they do process of elimination lowest score gets conselation prize second and first place do the chronological tie breaker and the winner goes off and does the platform ending halfway they capture the crook then capture carmen. Both crook and carmen are crude footage of actors who have bad lines and the quality is terrible. Chronoskimmer is the time travel devise the show set is to represent but the footage of the outside is not as good as I hoped it would be for computer technology. based on the game by broderbund and The Learning Company.
Where in the World Is Carmen Sandiego? (1991)
The Game show with fun and pazaz as well as very educational
The Greatest children's educational game show since the "Geography Bee" with Alex Trebek. The show was a hit because of many things what made it a hit with me was several things: The sets, chief office, Gumshoe office, informant Alleyway, The Station (Capture loot, warrant and crook) and Large map with Police light markers. There were humorous characters like the neighbor lady in the window (played in drag by the bass in Rockapella) who would always shut down her window after done speaking. There were great clue songs by rockapella where they would sing a song that had clues of where the crook was. But the big thing I liked was the Changes in later seasons. They would add special effects. Audience participation tournaments at ends of some shows for time fillers. Change police light to state flag and contestant would have to pick the right state flag to put on the right state, (Harder but more educational) and the chase a lighting round with rockapella doing weird things at the camera as they run past the camera. Rockapella would do Crook songs with the name of the crook , crooks included (Robo Crook, contessa, double trouble (siamese twins with different skin color(actually inverted color) and more) they were animated and superimposed on the screen. There was humor between Gregg lee and the Chief that was plain silly. Was taken off and put in its place was its spin-off dealing with time periods and events, which was of poorer quality than this excellent game show for kids. Rockapella has a new cd out as well.
EastEnders (1985)
Way better than American soaps. interesting issues it portrays.
The show that has everyone saying "Meet ya at the Vic" "Ri-kay!" and "Quid" in the united states that is. I won't watch American soaps, if i do i just laugh at them because their quality doesn't compare to this one from the British. The characters are very likable and dislikable depending on which character it is, very realistic situations, very beautiful sets and lot that are very realistic, In Minnesota we get to see 2 episodes back to back that are 2-3 years behind what the British are watching now at 11pm Friday nights. Issues faced: Drugs, gangs, Affairs,Alcoholism,Homosexuality,Religious cults, Gossip, pregnancy (Teen Pregnancy especially), rape, perjury, kidnapping , to name a few. characters speak cockney English, some speak with Irish accents, Scottish accents, characters are from different backgrounds, racial groups, and very beautiful British actresses (Daniella Denby-Ashe especially) and Grant the barkeep by Ross Kemp. (You love him then you hate him then back and forth) There is a bit more kissing in this soap from the short to the romantic, to the affair type. A must see for soap lovers and English lovers and people who like British accents.
