Gotham Knights: Of Butchers and Betrayals (2023)
The storm is bearing down on Gotham.
The set designers and their attention to detail are delectable. The trails of Easter egg sprinkled throughout the show make me want to check my Twitter account for more.
The red herrings scattered throughout the episode are seductive and draw me into the world of Gotham in ways I never imagined possible. There are a lot of questions and only a few answers. I've taken notes.
Lincoln March is in the rearview mirror, working for the Court of Owls, or so we are taught to believe. He seeks the role of Gotham's Major, as the old Major has been assassinated by the Owls. Who do they want to replace him, Lincoln or Havey?
The show's haze darkened abruptly. Bruce Wayne's lawyer had a mental episode and committed suicide. The house he once live littered with his babble from a mind that's been shattered by force. Then the girls, the old lady, the daughter of a serial killer. It seems she realises who the girls are and knows about the Court of Owls.
They we see Havey has sighed out the Court of Owls coin and he has no clue why. And he does not understand. Now is he a part of the Court of Owls and perhaps Turner's family is still alive and they own Gotham? Is Havey hiding behind the mask of owls?
Harvey's expression as he realizes he has the key to the limo speaks for itself. The spiral of the dissociation. It's no comfort and terrifying.
Gotham Knights: Scene of the Crime (2023)
Phenomenal, episode
I was eagerly awaiting this episode to watch how they would proceed with the Gotham dynamic. Olivia, Fallon, Tyler, Oscar, Navia, and Anna are superb actors, and play their characters with energetic and ease. Like layers of an onion, the story has just started to unravel, and it makes you want to thirst for more. You get small glimpses into the kids' backgrounds, who and what they are and who they want to be. I'm already developing my favourites and cheer them on and that's fast for a show that's on its second episode. Though I'm not sure what Harvey Dent is doing at the moment. This, in fact, puzzles me the most. He stands around looking pissed off at most of his scenes. Misha Collins is setting pretty in the background and there is no move on his character. I hope story develops, and he's not left in the background like an extra for much longer.
Gotham Knights (2023)
Super villain fun! Chocked full of fabulous acting and infante suspense and intrigue.
I had been elated about Gotham Knights starting. Observing the DC universe at a young age, I wanted to see how a developed program would address the universe. The premier episode eliminated any doubts or worries I would have. It permitted the old world of Gotham to stay in the back seat of the Bat Mobile. The setup is glorious and harkens back to the glory days of Gotham. The melodies were awe-inspiring and did not interfere from what you were watching. That gripping tension of gloom and joy that came with the show, not sticking points, just Bang, and Wow, as the story progressed. The young actors nailed in on the head and I can't wait to see how they develop in all this. Harvey Dent himself is definitely one I want to watch out for. He's compassionate and straddling two sides, trying to meet the difficult challenge of pleasing the people of Gotham and assisting Turner out. I craved more, and I will tune in next week. I'm absolutely certain that this will be one of the best shows I have watched in a long time.
