Amar Singh Chamkila (2024)
Captivating story of "Chamkila", deserves big screen
"Amar Singh Chamkila" isn't just a biopic; it's a captivating journey into the heart of a musical legend. Diljit Dosanjh delivers a phenomenal performance, embodying Chamkila's raw charisma and vulnerability with exceptional nuance. The scene where Chamkila pours his heart out while composing "Nacchdi" particularly struck a chord. It beautifully portrays his passion and the struggles that fueled his music.
As a Punjabi music enthusiast, I was impressed by how the film weaved Chamkila's musical journey into the social fabric of Punjab. The energy of his music fills the screen, but the movie doesn't shy away from the controversies surrounding his lyrics. It leaves you pondering the role of art, freedom of expression, and societal norms.
The supporting cast adds depth to Chamkila's world. Whether it's the unwavering support of his friends or the complex dynamics with his family, these characters flesh out the story and ground Chamkila's struggles. Parineeti Chopra portraying his love interest deliver nuanced performance, highlighting the impact the woman in his life had on his journey.
A. R. Rahman's music perfectly complements the film's narrative. The soundtrack captures the essence of Punjabi folk music while incorporating a contemporary flair. Songs like "Ishq Mitaye" showcase the soulful side of Chamkila's music, while "Naraingarh" pulsates with raw energy, mirroring the singer's rebellious spirit. The inclusion of other singers adds authenticity and depth to the musical experience.
I was genuinely disappointed to learn "Chamkila" bypassed theatrical release. The film's energy pulsates with life, and the music is meant to be experienced collectively. The final concert scene, with the crowd dancing to Chamkila's electrifying performance, would have been incredible on the big screen. It's a missed opportunity to share the magic of his music with a wider audience.
Overall, "Chamkila" is a must-watch for anyone interested in Punjabi music, biographical dramas, or simply powerful storytelling. Diljit Dosanjh shines, and the film's exploration of art, censorship, and legacy is thought-provoking. Despite the absence of a theatrical release, "Chamkila" deserves a place on your watchlist.

Tamasha (2015)
Embrace Your True Self: 'Tamasha' on Netflix Delivers an Emotional Journey Worth Experiencing
"Tamasha" is not just a movie; it's a transformative experience that delves deep into the complexities of human emotions and the pursuit of self-discovery. From the very first scene, I was captivated by the magnetic performances of Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone, who breathe life into the characters of Ved and Tara with an unparalleled depth of emotion. As Ved struggles to reconcile his inner desires with societal expectations, I found myself empathizing with his journey of self-realization.
What sets "Tamasha" apart is its masterful storytelling, skillfully woven together by director Imtiaz Ali. The film seamlessly transitions between past and present, fantasy and reality, creating a narrative that is both poignant and thought-provoking. Each frame is meticulously crafted, immersing viewers in the vibrant world of Ved and Tara, while the breathtaking cinematography adds another layer of depth to the story.
At its core, "Tamasha" is a celebration of authenticity and the courage to embrace one's true self. It serves as a poignant reminder that life is too short to conform to societal norms, and that true happiness can only be found by following the heart's deepest desires. As Ved and Tara's journey unfolds on screen, I couldn't help but reflect on my own life and the choices that have led me to where I am today.
The film's emotional resonance is further heightened by its soul-stirring soundtrack, which perfectly complements the narrative and adds an extra layer of depth to the characters' experiences. Each song evokes a range of emotions, from joy to sorrow, further immersing viewers in the emotional journey of Ved and Tara.
By the time the credits rolled, I was left with a profound sense of awe and introspection. "Tamasha" is more than just a movie; it's a reminder of the beauty of human connection, the power of love, and the importance of staying true to oneself. For its emotional depth, captivating performances, and powerful message, I wholeheartedly rate "Tamasha" a stellar 10 out of 10. It's a film that will stay with me long after the screen fades to black, inspiring me to live life authentically and chase my dreams with unwavering determination.
Murder Mubarak (2024)
Wasted Potential: A Star-Studded Cast Underutilized in 'Murder Mubarak'
I watched "Murder Mubarak" recently, and despite the presence of talented actors like Pankaj Tripathi, Dimple Kapadia, Karishma Kapoor, Tisca Chopra, and Sanjay Kapoor, the film was a letdown. It's disheartening to see such capable artists not being utilized to their full potential. The director missed the mark in harnessing their abilities, which could have elevated the movie significantly. The narrative lacked the intrigue and suspense expected from a thriller, and the pacing was inconsistent. While the cinematography and soundtrack were above a average, they were not enough to compensate for the film's shortcomings. Overall, I'd rate it a 4 out of 10 for the wasted opportunity to create something memorable with such a stellar cast.
Bunty Aur Babli 2 (2021)
Good timepass
Me and my family - total 6 people went to watch this movie in theatre and each of us highly enjoyed it. It's really a fun movie to watch. Rani Mukherjee is the best among all.
My request to people who look at IMDb ratings before watching any movie - Stop doing that. Now a days, many of the people seem to be politically motivated and just give poor rating to each actor's movie who doesn't coincide with their political views. In this particular case, Saif is being targeted, unfortunately. Same rating game happens with Alia, Deepika, Taapsee, etc. As well.
To repeat myself, please go ahead and watch this movie to have good fun with friends and family. Also, do not compare it with Bunty Aur Babli part 1. Thanks.
Rashmi Rocket (2021)
Watch it for Abhishek Banerjee
Firstly, I would like to Thank filmmakers of this movie for raising the topic of a sensitive issue i.e. Gender testing; Also showing it to us as how it impacts the lives of female athletes. I wasn't aware of the same earlier, so THANK YOU..!!
Additionally, I must request everyone to watch this movie for another reason i.e. Abhishek Banerjee. He comes in second half of the movie and becomes most important part of it. I just loved him in this movie (as well).
First half covers the sports aspect, however, Court room drama in second half of the movie is highly entertaining. Please don't miss it, and do watch this movie. Even if you are politically motivated for not watching Taapsee's movie, at least watch it for the concept, and our female athletes 🙏🏽
Tandav (2021)
MUST WATCH - HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
People are giving negative ratings and feedback as they are politically influenced. This series is a MUST WATCH. Keeps you on your toes due to its thrilling story. Amazing acting, direction, music and script. If you are not watching it, it's your loss.
