Blue Valentine (2010)
Refreshing!
Film portrays the start and an end of a relationship.
Amazing performance! Like many others have said before. This movie is definetly not a cookie cutter. I love discovering these bold stories. Not exactly fun to watch, but it is meaningfull without a doubt!
For the first time I see Ryan Gosling playing an unlikeable character. It was so cringe. Like a broken record that never stops repeating itself. So hopeless. The definition of insanity...
The Place Beyond the Pines (2012)
Nothing goes unnoticed
My 2 cents:
The film is filled with meaning. Rich with characters. Felt like I saw 3 movies, one after another. Enjoyed!
A birds eye view:
To me this story was a nice exploration of cause and effect. Some seemingly unlikely events between two characters can have a drastic influence on the futures of people that were not directly participating in the occasion. It reminds the viewer of dangers associated with bottling issues up and sweeping problems under the carpet.
Le feu follet (1963)
Wake up call. A little disturbing.
The protagonist struggling with depression does not find connection after all. It all ends.
Shocking,- especially when You are relating to the character. The movie takes You down the slide and literally shows what happens if carefull is what you are not.
It can make you scared. It sure did that to me. Seeing how things do not always get resolved after all makes me want to push hard against the feelings of depression and make effort to create more bridges in relationships.
On a positive note:
The fact that such a movie was made at all is somewhat of a beam of hope on its own.
For one, it proves that someone actually internalised the "hole" inside and came out alive.
Film sudgests the viewer a solution without itself acting upon it. Just raise your hands if you were playing out the transformation of the main character for the better in your head whilst the events were unfolding.
Perhaps one lesson could be - buck, snort and jerk. Be impolite even. Like a bull, - if neccesarry. But do not sip tea with depression for too long. Otherwise it might just convince You of its lies.
Love all! Feels great to be part of a community!
Se7en (1995)
Shocking! Disturbing at times!
Nice flow. Apart from presenting a great theme of human nature to explore,- the film had a very interesting chemistry between the main characters, which carried the story in fun directions - depending on which one of the two opposing energies was dominating in the given scene. Great!
Meet Joe Black (1998)
Charming!
Amazing acting, wonderful story, exciting characters. Film captures a profound message about life and death. All around excellent movie!
Somehow I managed to pay attention to the dialog that took place in the setting of corporate business environment. Very often in movies I would skip pieces and wonder away in my own mind at moments like those, but the unique characters really kept me captivated and focused which let me enjoy the funny bits and pieces that otherwise would have been many times missed.
Legends of the Fall (1994)
Great story!
Tristan - the wild son was very admired, it was quite funny even - the scene when he came back to the ranch on the horse - everyone was captivated by his presence, not that they had anything else better to do there at the time - but anyways - I found that scene rather entertaining. Showing the awe of multiple characters as they embrace the hero. Well, not for the wrong reasons - he was strong, charismatic and had the guts to live life his own way- for which he was massively respected.
Anyhow - the story felt very real, it was heart-braking at moments even. Good watch!
The Truman Show (1998)
It was alright.
Interesting premise. Super creepy idea. Also creepy how chill was the main guy. Crazy how it all played out. You can really feel the age of the movie, they made a lot of weird movies back in the day I suppose.
I feel like he should have discovered everything much earlier, one of the plot-holes.
Made me wonder If I live in a show as well- probably not, but who knows? 😄
Into the Wild (2007)
Man goes through a journey of a lifetime in order to deviate from the course that might make him more like his father.
A young man escapes to the north after graduation, goes on to meet different people and experience challenges that are associated with the survival in the nature.
His departure is understandable, supposedly he was afraid of conforming with the society in a way that would make him dislike himself. Largely it all stems from the dynamics of his family. Being exposed to the ill-side of his financially successful father he launches to reject any possibility of becoming alike himself.
At the very end he finds enlightenment, forgiveness and peace.
It is not hard to relate with the main character of the movie, It is really tragic that the things had to end the way they did. "Happiness is only real when shared"
Swiss Army Man (2016)
Amazing!
The comedy is hilarious, relationship between characters deep and thought provoking.Plenty of original scenes. Brave statement of acceptance and faith. Had a really good, deep belly laughter! Beautiful message throughout the film. Recommend!
