Reviews
Heart Shot (2022)
Pls make this a full film or series!
The characters in this film are so real and fresh feeling. Also I love how it feels super feminine and Badass at the same time. It somehow feels delicate and strong all at once which blows my mind. We need more stuff like this! Pls Netflix!!!
David (2020)
The Will Ferrel You Know -- but a little different
It's fun to see Will Ferrel go a little darker in this short film with a role custom built just for him. I love that there are two characters named David and they both need help. All in all, a memorable dramedy short.
The Letter Room (2020)
Lingers with you
This is a quiet and unassuming short film that leaves you with a genuinely tough question - is lying ever the right thing to do?
Star studded and exquisitely shot, this short film somehow feels like much more than a short.
Dolapo Is Fine (2020)
A delightful short film
Dolapo is Fine is a breath of fresh air! It tackles an important and culturally significant topic with a lightness that makes it an enjoyable watch from start to finish. The characters were all super relatable. This could easily be made into a feature - and I'd love to see it!
Sophie Jones (2020)
Gentle and Profound
Sophie Jones is a simple and delicate film, with so much going on under the surface. The characters felt complex, authentic, and appropriately high school aged -- not only physically, but also with just the right amount of angst. It's one of those films that you can tell was birthed through real trauma and pain, but from someone who has done a lot of healing on the other side of that trauma. So, as an audience member, you feel taken care of. You trust the filmmaker to lead you into truth, and into a better place.
Shedding (2019)
A treat for true cat lovers
I've been a cat lover my entire life and honestly haven't felt truly "seen" by an animal movie before now. SHEDDING goes so much deeper than cute cat moments. It doesn't rely on it's gimmick or get corny. It is an authentic expression of what life would truly be like for a cat to become a human and the beautiful thing about it is that it ends up exploring the nuances of the human experience with depth and quiet absurdity. It's as if someone made an awards-season-movie for cat lovers. It's such a highly original film and it trusts its audience with an intentional and meditative pace. I cried watching it. I was so genuinely moved by this small indie production.
Mignonnes (2020)
Spot on
This film truly understand and sheds light on the ways young girls imitate what they see on screens big and small. 26 years ago when I was eleven I was a relatively "good girl." nonetheless, this film accurately depicted so much of the reality I observed at that age. I can only imagine how much harder it is for tweens and teens these days, now that the consumption and recreation of provocative content is so readily available.
The script and acting were both fantastic. Perhaps my favorite film I've seen thus far this year.
The Eleven O'Clock (2016)
Saw this film 4 years ago, have not stopped thinking about it
This film is truly hilarious and the period look gives it an edge of sophistication rarely seen in an independent comedy short. I still think about the fact that this didn't win the Oscar and it bums me out majorly.
Sticker (2019)
A farce comedy for this moment!
Sticker is a wonderful short film with equal parts heart and comedy. The farcical elements of the film are relentlessly entertaining and the characters are likable and relatable. Bravo Georgi Uskovski and team!
