Nuovo Cinema Paradiso (1988)
heartwarming
"Whatever you end up doing, love it. The way you loved the projection booth when you were a little squirt."
"Life is not like in the movies, life is harder". Saying so, my take is that Cinema Paradiso is doing a pretty fair job at decipting life.
Feelings, emotions.
"Dont give in to nostalgia. Get out of here! Go back to Rome. You're young and the world is yours. I'm old. I don't want to hear you talk anymore. I want to hear others talking about you."
A man reminiscing of his life, his love, his first love, his childhood home, hist father figure: what a father figure, what a beautiful love.
All kinds of feelings at the end. Such is life.
Do lok tin si (1995)
Loved it
Watched it at home under my cool blue soft blanket, one of those special days. My second Wong Kar Wai film. Magical!
Dreamy. Both surreal and real. Lovely pictures and camerawork. Lovely sounds. I enjoyed the character building and each and everyone's internal dialogue, especially He Zhiwu's (the night hours business guy).
"Most people fall in love for the first time as teenagers. I guess I'm a late bloomer. Maybe I'm too picky. On May 30th 1995, I finally fell in love for the first time. It was raining that night. When I looked at her, I suddenly felt like I was a store. And she was me. Without any warning, she suddenly enters the store. I don't know how long she'll stay. The longer the better, of course."
Marinheiro das Montanhas (2021)
affective memoir
I havent cried in a while. I did it today.
This film is beautiful in so many ways.
Color, pace, narration, peoples and places.
Photos, footage. Story. Contemplation and discovery.
Le fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain (2001)
Nice.
The colors make you feel comfortable and warm. The plot, the shots, the editing gets you. A year passed since I saw it and as I'm trying to recall it I'm already giggling. It left me with a real sense of wholesomeness and beautiful hope for the world. Quite the pleasure to watch.
