A Mulher de Todos (1969)
"He's a bit intellectual but has value"
I read a review of this film where the person commented that they saw it drunk and I imagine that I should add it, huh? It's strange, but funny and smart. The Helena acting is so powerful and memorable, the soundtrack with her acts is really wonderful.
Sganzerla (the Director) once said that his films are anti-intellectual and seek Brazilianness above all else (or something like this), but he is a bit intellectual, and this fact he is even unconsciously involved in his work, he plays with language but knows what he is doing
Easily one of the best sleazy films, anyone who hasn't understood it until now will never understand it!
O Bandido da Luz Vermelha (1968)
I DIDN'T UNDERSTAND ANYTHING, I LOVED IT.
Jokes aside, The Red Light Bandit is the revolution of the trash mouth, the journalistic narrators running over each other throughout the film and even in the chaos they tell us between the lines of what surrounds the events of the film, this insatiable desire of my brother Luz de go for food and drinks, the politician J. B (an acronym that has changed its meaning in recent years lol), who is a total slut and says all sorts of strange things. The content of the film alone is wonderful, but the form is what shines. Rogério Sganzerla brings innovative work and not only that, but also mesmerizing. All the fame this film has is deserved.
O Rei da TV (2022)
A Great Show! (Brazilian here)
I started watching it without any intentions, just because it was a series portraying the famous presenter Silvio Santos. And it's well above what I expected, the drama is engaging, well-written episodes, and outstanding characters. The references made to real life, especially for those who grew up watching TV in Brazil, are very nostalgic. But here comes what I think might alienate some of the series, it distances itself from reality, the show is more of a retelling than a faithful portrayal of reality. It didn't bother me, but it might upset some. Another thing is the appearance of some characters that refer to well-known figures such as Silvio Santos himself, his older version doesn't remind him of real life, he lacks the mannerisms, the characteristic melemolence that makes this presenter so special, but it gives to stand out for being a good actor. I can say the same for his younger self, he shows more layers of someone we've seen so much, the smile he makes is iconic and very memorable, I imagine this actor has a lot of potential for more good roles in the future.
At the end of the day, it's a very good show, worth watching, but not perfect.
8/10.
