Hopper et le hamster des ténèbres (2022)
Good fun, especially for 7-10 year old kids
Our family had a good time watching this movie in the cinema. It has a good pacing, the animation is technically great, the scenery and the characters are well designed, there is a lot to see here.
Storywise, this adventure movie does not explore new territory. Not a problem for the kids, but the lack of surprises is a downside. On the other hand, it is enjoyable for the parents to list all the famous movies this movie borrows scenes from (including all the musical references).
This film is straightforward fun, and can be considered as a good introduction for the kids to the old classics we love so much.

Lovely family movie
We enjoyed this film a lot!
Perfect for children aged about 7-12 (but our 4 year old daughter enjoyed it as well), with an engaging magical story that stirs their imagination. And there is a lot to enjoy for the parents too: great acting by both the young and grownup actors, believable dialogue, well-paced story and a gorgeous-looking Amsterdam in the fall.
Most of the adult roles are rather one-dimensional, but this is not a problem as they are still believable, and funny, and all serve the story which is about friendship and children finding out who they want to be.
Alles is liefde (2007)
Super!
Colorful, touching, and very funny! This can be considered as a Dutch version of Love Actually (even the fonts of the credit titles are similar), which is a big compliment to Love Actually. As the stories and situations here are very Dutch (including gay marriage and a vehicle carefully locked to a bridge), I think this film will move Dutch viewers more than the British version did. I know I wanted to cry at the end, but I was there with my girlfriend. Super performances of the all-star cast, all playing the roles they do best. And the movie shows Amsterdam from its most wonderful side as well!
The movie does raise a worrying question though: what will we do when He really dies? My suggestion: we ask Gijs Scholten van Aschat. Any other candidates?
Try to avoid the trailer, which spoils some surprises.
