Billy Crystal: 700 Sundays (2014)
Do Yourself A Favor and Watch This
I personally have never seen anything like this before and am so glad I have now.
I know Billy's story will give everyone a touch of familiarity. He pulls you into his own right away, he will make you laugh and even (for me at least) make you cry.
You know, it's such a simple thing. A man telling you the story of his life. Not for this one though. The presentation brings the emotions of being there to life. It becomes way more than "just a story".
Watching this is giving yourself something good. I recommend when you do that you give yourself time. No interruptions. You want to watch it all in one sitting. It really is worth every second.
For me, my family came to America and stayed on the east coast. When I was just a few years old we broke away and moved to the west. Along with a few of our closest family members. We brought the East Coast values along with us. Something I never truly understood like I understand them now.
Good food, strong family, hard times, breath taking moments and always, always love.
You do not have to live on the east coast, have it your past or in your heart to enjoy this amazing show. You only need to clear your mind and take a listen. You will come away appreciating the many moments in your own life. You will also be reminded of how precious it and how much each person in your life means to you.
You deserve to watch it.
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2 (2011)
Epilogue, so many important things you may be missing.
I would like to make my review about the epilogue because that seems to bring about a lot of talk about looks and some are missing out on a few very big things.
First, I am glad they shot the epilogue. It wasn't so much the looks, I thought they all looked age appropriate, they had their children in their mid 20's and now it's time for school. It was what was said that was so important and powerful to me.
When Harry first went to the school he had no one. He was a lost little boy trying to find his way. During his trip through the series he kept losing family or those close enough to be family.
Harry standing side by side with his son and saying to him "Together" as they went through to the train station...it hit me the most. It hit me hard, I did not laugh, I cried. It just showed that all Harry went through he finally had what he always wanted. Not power, not understanding of why things can be so unfair but the one thing he wanted most..
A family.
He finally had stability and peace, surrounded by loved ones for the rest of his life. That truly is the biggest prize isn't it? A prize they all deserved and all received.
I love how he wanted to make sure that his son did not feel as he did on his first day. That his father was by his side as they took that first step. If they had filmed it with other actors, no way would it have been as powerful as it was.
Another important note, it made crystal clear that to Harry, Snape was finally understood and in turn cared for him so much he named his son after him and told his son all of those wonderful things about him. That hit me too! Again it made the ending that much more beautiful. I LOVED the epilogue and feel the series gained so much more ending it this way.
Fred: The Movie (2010)
PAINFUL. It Was Bad Enough On YouTube
I don't understand for the life of me why this... person (annoyance) got his own movie. I've watched him on YouTube as many did just to see how far this painfully annoying kid would take things before he got picked up by the crazies at Nickelodeon.
They missed the part where you should find talent instead of looking at view counts and subscribers. So they picked ONE of YouTube's worst and threw a bunch of money at him thinking their lazy bums would get a mountain of it in return.
The TV appearances here and there were bad enough but this movie is high octane ridiculous.
Let's back up for a moment. Imagine a bunch 10 year girls olds taping themselves at a slumber party acting like fools then watching it in fast forward laughing at how funny their voice sounds.
Now take away those girls and make it a teenage boy, over and over and over again. Video after video of nothing but screaming in 4th gear. That is who these morons decided is so talented he needed a franchise.
The best lesson I got from this movie is that the amount of subs or views one has on the not so honest YouTube should not be way you pick your next big hit. Don't forget to find actual talent. YouTube is known for their top uploaders either being fake or stupid with a small sprinkling of "talented" passing through ever so often. So it's sad that genuinely talented kids were passed up by a boy acting like a 10 yr old girl.
It hit the biggest low when I saw Fred merchandise at my local mall. That stupid mid scream expression on everything from shirts to cheap bottle cap necklaces. Of course most of it landed in the clearance section and stayed there even when it was half off of the clearance. They couldn't give his stuff away! I'm disgusted in every company and human being attached to this whole thing.
Personally I think the Chipmunks should sue.
Sweet November (2001)
Good Actors Bad Beginnings...
I don't feel Keanu is a bad actor. I felt the actors and actresses in the movie did a good job for what they were given. I do feel the story was poorly done.
The way he is "convinced" to stay with a crazy acting woman who he doesn't know in the beginning just didn't work. I shook my head every time he agreed. It was extremely awkward and unreasonable. She constantly claimed it was to help him but there was no reasoning given. He wasn't really fired (called boss the next day and continued). His life wasn't spiraling out of control. There just wasn't a good enough reason to stay with a crazy stranger for a month. They needed to make Nelson's like a little more shaken.
It especially got bad when they added the "guy from downstairs" the night after she sleeps with Nelson. She treats the neighbor like a boyfriend in front of Nelson (stupid) then is surprised (more stupid) when he runs off like any sane person would.
If they had worked what I have explained above I would have given it a higher rating but the other half of the movie had it's own problems...
She gets this guy into her home after much harassing, begging and prodding that he do so for a MONTH. She sleeps with him and gets involved with him knowing full well she is terminally ill. Yet she freaks out him, beating him up and throwing medications like a rabid monkey when he finds out. This makes absolutely no sense at all. Even if she felt that he would leave her before he found out, SHE HAS CANCER. They shouldn't have given her something so drastic. Terminal cancer is way too big to be hidden.
So the guy finds out the woman who forced herself into his life has been lying and will die. Yet she refuses to treat him like a human being EVEN WHEN HE PROVES HE WANTS TO STICK AROUND AFTER FINDING OUT SHE IS SICK. This again is stupid.
I think the story line had good points to it but there was too many unrealistic and bad things that ruined it. Usually when someone dies at the end of a movie I cry no matter how powerful the story had been. I didn't this time.
Again I think the actors and actresses did a good job with the story they were given. The acting is the only reason it got a rating at all. The story was bad.
