Something Borrowed (2011)
How can this be any worse?
If you think cheating is awesome, this is the movie for you.
Everyone cheats and everyone ends up happily.
Every little bit of it is predictable too, nothing about it is fun or unique.
There is no moral in this story, there is nothing funny. It's just a bunch of pretty guys and girls cheating on each other without repercussions.
I'm thinking really hard right now about whether anything about it was good, but I can't think of anything...
And why does everyone in these romantic comedies have to be upper-class and from good heritage?
And why is it always set in NYC?
There's really nothing original about this one.
Do not waste 1.5 hours of your life on this!
Diary of a Wimpy Kid (2010)
This movie does not deserve a 6.1
First of all: I never write a review. Second of all: I never quit a movie 30 minutes in. Third of all: I've seen way over a 1000 movies and I enjoy almost all of them for what they are.
So here goes; the review about a movie I quit watching 30 minutes in, which I hated everything about. I wrote this review (and voted 1) because I think it doesn't deserve the 6.1 it's at right now.
The main character is a terribly annoying kid, who over-acts, has an annoying voice and does not get your sympathy at all. He's supposed to be smart and funny, but he's really not. Also the premise of the film is really American and superficial, not interesting at all. All the other characters in the movie are wrongfully cast for their parts (except for the little chubby kid, he did an okay job). Even the father (Steve Zahn), who I usually like in movies, is not suited for the part of the father, which I was really annoyed about to see. The brother was supposed to be a bad-ass rocker, but he couldn't pull of the attitude or the outfit. The events that happened weren't funny, and usually stuff you've seen 10 times better in other movies.
I can't believe all these semi-positive reviews (seems like they were created by the people who made this movie), so I'm trying to warn you: if you have a choice in it, don't be stupid and choose this movie, it's a terrible waste of time.
Knight and Day (2010)
Very enjoyable action movie with some comedy
I went to see this movie, knowing I usually don't like Tom Cruise's acting, and ditto for Cameron Diaz's acting, so my expectations were pretty low.
From the beginning to the end of the movie I was thoroughly entertained. It was an action-ridden movie with some comedy elements, that didn't pretend to be any more than that. I guess you could say it was along the lines of From Paris With Love.
Cruise's acting is usually over the top and in this case that worked perfectly; the way he delivered his lines provided some comedy on itself and really suited the movie as a whole. Diaz playing the blonde perfectly.
You can look for holes in the script, or having problems taking the movie too serious. But it's just entertainment for the masses, and it provided exactly that!
Grown Ups (2010)
Just another Adam Sandler film...
There is nothing wrong about this film... there is nothing right about it either. It's just another Adam Sandler feel-good movie, and if you like these (I certainly do), you will like this movie too. If you hate them for a lack of plot or the shallowness of the jokes, you won't. I just know I laughed a numerous amount of times, and I felt good after having watched it.
And no, I'm not a stupid guy; I like a good plot, good acting, directing and well-thought-of puns as does the next guy. But there are times when you feel like watching a complicated drama, and there are times when you feel like watching a no-brainer.
This is definitely a no-brainer, which will make you feel good from time to time. That's why Adam Sandler makes these movies, and that's why they keep doing so well.
They will make you feel good :)
