Snatch (2000)
This Movie gave me my Nickname!
When I started uni a lot of my new mates couldn't pronounce my name and some could. My name is Erdem by the way. I don't think it's that hard to say. Anyway I have a mate called Adrian, half Greek, half pom and he gave me the nic Turkish. Even some of my other mates, not all, who could say my name properly started calling me Turkish and so it kinda stuck with my uni mates. It started with Adrian when we were talking about how funny Snatch is and from then some of my mates called me Turkish.
Any its a very funny movie, especially Tyrone and his crew. The best role Jason Statham has ever played that's for sure, also Brad Pitt as well. I still don't know what he is saying for half the time.
D3: The Mighty Ducks (1996)
Best of the 3 Just!
All three movie are very close to each other in quality but D3 is probably the best by 1/2 a star or 0.1%.
The thing that makes this movie stand out from the rest is how Gordon Bombay (Emilio Estevez) became the true mentor Charlie because he has finally become wise after the end of D2 and now that Hans has passed away. Charlie is now the loose canon Gordon was at his age and along with his poor attitude towards his new coach Charlie starts to go downhill fast. Emilio is a gun in this movie and he is my favorite character and Coach Orion (Jeffrey Nordling) is my second favorite and they both put in stellar performances. The great speech about Defence by Coach Orion is a classic quote and is very true even in my sport Soccer and life. It's one of my favorite quotes of all time from any movie. The Minnesota Miracle Man scene is a highlight and Emilio is just class. The music choreography in D3 is excellent. It was so well done and example is when the Varsity team starts picking up the hitting and the music behind the scene starts saying "Beat em" in a opera like voice. The music complements the situation well throughout the whole movie and is one of its major pluses.
D3 definitely has it's dull parts and some poor acting at times but at other times the acting is pretty good. However, the Hans in this movie doesn't rate well against the previous actors who played Hans.
The plot follows the usual pattern of, pranks against the "bad" or rival team and the initial, I hate the coach attitude and then the coming together and uniting as a team and as friends once more to for fill the aim of defeating the rival team. Will team spirit get them over the line this time? Watch and see.
Mortal Kombat (1995)
Mortal Kombat is not about death but LIFE!
This movie lives up to expectations, unlike the sequel. The story is simple, a handful of people on a leaky boat have to save the world from the forces of Outworld, by defeating them in a scared competition called Mortal Kombat. The whole cast in this movie give it life. Robin Shou as Lui Kang does well as the unwilling hero. C.Lambert is "absolutely brilliant" as tough guy Rayden. B. Wilson as Sonya with the I don't need anyone attitude is okay, Talisa Soto as Kitana the wise one is cool, Linden Ashby is the perfect wise cracking picture of Johnny Cage and all the bad guys kick ass. The greatest performance however was Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa as Shang Shung, the guy is absolute class. He looks like Shung, he walks, talks and fights like Shung. He performed the role of the evil sorcerer to perfection. They was he expressed his lines and how he put emphasis on the right words at the right time was acting at its best.
The fighting scenes and the music throughout the whole movie was special to say the least. All the fights were so cool, it's too hard to pick which was the best. Being Mortal Kombat there should be a lot of fighting, that's the whole point of the movie and it delivers. Also the story is simple but good and the acting is good also and along with the reasonable special effects, it has three traits the sequel lacking. In terms of the music and the fighting they're pretty much equal but this film has got the story and decent acting the second movie lacking. Definitely worth a look.
Mortal Kombat: Annihilation (1997)
This Belongs In Outworld!
First of all the only reason I gave the movie a 6 is because of the fighting scenes in the movie, the music used in the film and the extra characters used from the game. The fighting sequences were very entertaining and the background music suited the situations well. However, this film had the worst acting I've ever seen in my life and the storyline or plot could have been a lot better, it was too weak. I'm glad this movie had more fighting because that's what MK is all about, but the story didn't match up to it and the acting was even worse.
They should have expanded the story into two films, with this one finishing as a cliffhanger because the story was to big to squeeze into one film. Only for the fighting/music and because I'm an MK fan I would give it a 7/10 but I'll the acting was more like 2/10, so I should give it a 4, but without taking the poor acting into consideration and seeing how much I loved seeing the different characters and the fighting based on that alone I'll would give it a 7. So, overall 6 stars.
The conclusion is, if you are a MK fan, give it a go, if you like action film with a lot of fighting then watch it, other than that I suggest you stay away because it will just be a waste of time.
Blue Streak (1999)
Equal Best Movie Ever Made! Believe That!
Blue Streak is about a guy Miles Logan (Martin L) who hides a diamond in a police station and pretends to be a detective to get it back. The reason why this comes about is hilarious and entertaining and I don't want to give any spoilers away so I won't mention anymore about the movie expect what I though of it.
In one word, BRILLIANT! The best performances Martin and Luke have ever done. Both their mannerisms make there characters come alive. I've got the DVD and the way this movie was developed and finalised is however movie should be made. It's full of improvisation, creativity and spontaneity. The effort put into the making of this film and the contrast of the two main characters Carlson (Luke Wilson) and Miles make it so enjoyable and most of so funny. No crude humour, no high level coarse language, which makes the comedy even better and the best Martin has ever produced. The whole cast is superb and David Chappelle just proves how funny he really is. The storyline is excellent and it allows the movie not only to be an action/comedy but a great story as well. It's not a stupid comedy, it actually goes somewhere and the plot is so developed, which makes everything flow so well.
Best buddy cop film ever made, along with Rush Hour, but Blue Streak is a bit better. I've seen this movie about 100 times! Believe that! I know almost every line off by heart and recommend it to any who wants to laugh and also loves a fantastic story.
Cool Runnings (1993)
Winter Olympics Time Again!!!
Well the time has came for the Winter Olympics and so I watched Cool Runnings yesterday. It's a great movie full of life and light hearted humor. After all these years its still funny and the wise cracking Sangka still makes me laugh. It's a movie full of good messages and morals. This movies is also inspirational at certain key moments, which gives reward to human qualities, like belief in yourself and others and determination. Having said that at times it is a bit dull but all in all its not too bad.
You know there are some people who can not believe Jamaica has a bobsled team! Respect to Mr. Blitzer!
Happy Family (2003)
Happy Family was an excellent show! Season 1 Review
This was a really funny show. It deserved a second season and the way things ended in season 1 it would have been very interesting. When I first watch happy family i wasn't impressed at all and I missed an episode due to my disappointment. So, it started of slowly, it wasn't really that funny but then towards the middle of the season it picked up and by the end it was making crack up all the time. As soon as Maggie got booted off the show became a lot funnier because Tim had to move back home. Every single cast member performed brilliantly and the material was they had to work with was quality towards the end of the season. Even Alex played by JP was funny on occasions. And the materials focus was spread well throughout the whole family. My favourite character would have to be Peter Brennan and Tim. The episode where the parents decided to be hip an smoke pot was 9/10 and so was the tooth or dental wars episode. But, the best episodes were the last two, the first one when Tim was diagnosed with stress was an absolute crack up.I couldn't stop laughing when i saw Peter's expression and the fact that Tim is a bum, how could he be stress! And the part where he GAVE UP on him and then later on had to care again because he got a job was a classic. And the ending of the final episode was superb! I tape those to episodes and i'm gonna make sure i don't tape over them they were absolutely hilarious. Also, the episode were Dr. Brennan wanted a friend, the ending seen in the plane, how funny was that!!! Excellent script 2nd half of the season! 1st half of season 7/10 last half 9.5/10
The Lone Gunmen (2001)
The Lonegunmen is way better than the X-Files
X-Files started off well but quickly turned into an overrated pathetic show. The Lonegunmen was a much better show and it should have lasted longer than just 13 episodes. Just when it had me hanging on the edge of my seat it got canceled. It was really annoying because it's exactly what happened with The Chronicle: News From the Edge! I can't believe the made a DVD of it. Even though i thought The LGM was an average show the first time I watched it, by the next couple of episodes i really started to enjoy it. It was a very entertaining show because it had a good mix of comedy, drama and sci-fi. Jimmy was a very good inclusion to the cast.
Mortal Kombat: Conquest (1998)
MKC was a cool show! It should have lasted longer!
MKC was an excellent series. I never saw the first couple of episodes because i never knew it was on. When i found out i go hooked on it. But, I agree with some of on the fact that Kung Lao character should have been a little bit stronger. His meant to be the champion and leader. Jeffery Meek is an excellent actor the 2 roles he played were excellent. So were Taja, Siro, Shang Tsung and Quan Chi. The ending of the series was superb. It would have made for an excellent second season. New characters could have been added and what really happened to Rayden, Kung Lao and his gang could have been explained. And who the untouchable black cloaked guys were. You cant kill them. It's been along time since i saw the series so I've forgotten what they were.
8.5/10
That '80s Show (2002)
10 out of 10! I love this that 80s show!!!
The cast is just perfect. The casting crew have done an excellent job. Roger, Tuesday, Corey, RT, Margret, Katie, Sophia even Owen are all good actors. It is 1000 time better than that 70s show. That 80s show is way more hilarious than the 70s show. The 70s show had crappy flashbacks and overall was pathetic. While the 80s show had excellent characters and the jokes were hilarious. All the crew performed above themselves. The storyline rules! I hope it is brought back because there is super potential in this show.
Full on crack up! The setting is mad the cast is cool!
10 out of 10 for a Sitcom no doubt!
