Two Wrongs (2016)
Two Wrongs and No Right!!
I was so disappointed to find that was nothing more than a thoughtless, amateur and quite frankly pathetic production. The story is way too rushed and the audience has no time to absorb anything or get to have feeling for any of the characters. Furthermore its directing is also too fast, there is little establishment of where the viewer is and this came across to me as lazy film-making with the director not taking advantage of the environments used in the film. Again back to the story it has too many plot holes in it: How did Mark always know where Connor and his gang were. Why did he have to write down Connors name? It was the most pointless part in the whole movie also not making any sense not to mention it was very patronising to the audience. The film was also littered with continuity errors: Daylight in the Takeaway window when it is suppose to be night, crew/equipment reflections in the glass also in the Takeaway as well as the gun being empty then magically having ammo again, also some of them have London accents when is set in Manchester. The only thing that doesn't fully fail in this is the sound and the high quality cinematography. So overall there were Two Wrongs in this film: Poor Writing, Lazy directing!?!?!
The Falling (2014)
Please Read: The Truth.
Being a filmmaker I have watched tons of films in my time. Some being amazing in everything that they achieve, while others flop at every turn. The Falling happens to be the latter. Its baffling how this god awful film was written let alone commissioned. Set in 1969 in an English all girls school it follows the spread a 'fainting spell'. What ever the hell that is? Its not even remotely interesting and its misdirection just adds to it pathetic existence. What's even worse is that includes a scene of INCEST which was just plain sick. The thing that really gets me is that it had so many assets at its disposal, £750,000 not to mention the great Cinematography from Agnes Godard as well as some brilliant acting by Maisie Williams, Greta Scacchi and Maxine Peake. What we have here is a case of Self Indulgent Pomp by Carol Morely. This is quite ironic considering her other films like the Alcohol Years and Dreams of a Life which were gritty and real. I can't even begin to comprehend what she was thinking when she was writing the screenplay. All I know is its probably one of the worst films I've ever had the displeasure watching.
