Moonfall (2022)
B movie with Hollywood budget
Probably the best biggest budget Great BIg B Movie ever made, at no point does it care it's B Movie if fact it's happy a proud to be that.
For the B movie lovers, if you come in to this expecting a story that makes sense outside the film you will be sorely disappointed. But if you love the B movie formula of what's the over the top way we can take plot next, but at some point most b movies run out of budget, well this great for you as I think film studio kept signing cheques what ever was asked for.
Add to that actors who seam to know what let themselves if for said what heck let's roll with it.
Sprung (2022)
If you liked my name is Earl.......
If you liked show called " my name is Earl " , you will love this gem, really took me by surprise , it had popped on one of my streaming services Freevee ( at least in the UK ) and why not watch the first episode I was hooked . The characters are great funny and so likeable , and their back stories are excellent and funny. The whole think has such a great style to it both, and surprisingly for comedy great cinematography that just adds to the great look and feel of the show. I also loved the fact you have gags that just in your face and can't miss but there are others so subtle that it's not later you realise gag a great balance of both types of humour.
Toys (1992)
Art house anti war film with a budget
This what you get when you give an art house anti-war film a Hollywood budget, amazing visual and very cleaver little hidden ideas and jokes everywhere I have lost track how many times I seen this film but each time I see something that just adds to it's charm.
Beyond (2014)
Great film, not what you will be expecting
Go into the film no exceptions. A true example of how to make a low budget film, that relies on it's story and it's acting, draw you in an hook you, I think I will have to watch second time to see the clues I am sure dropped to ending long before we got there.
I Think We're Alone Now (2018)
Great paced what if story
This very slow burn story, and if like slow burn sci-fi with attempt to speak about something deeper than action sci-fi does you will love this, but I can also see those that want only action sci-fi hating this movie.
Cloud Atlas (2012)
Wow well that was different but very good
I read some reviews claiming problem with the film is it's like flicking channels for 3 hours and yes it is like that but imagine you flicked channels for 3 hours and at the end all stories linked together great and creative way.
Bloodshot (2020)
Good action sci-fi movie
Good switch off weeknight action sci-fi flic.
Oh, one point effects guys had day off making theis and London look like somewhere a lot warmer and on different continent, because it's clearly Cape Town, they did not even change the number plates, roofs or types of police vehicles to match the UK.
Dave Made a Maze (2017)
So surreal and funny and thoughtful
This is such good film I was drawn to it after seeing polar opposite reviews on IMDB I knew some causing the reaction had be very different, so if you want something new watch this it's a must, but if you are in the mood main stream this will not be your cup of tea.
Infinite (2021)
Great action falls short on the exposition
The action is great but despite spending a good about the film run time on the exposition it not detailed enough, it feels like this would been a better TV series. But I still recommend watching this for fun action flic just not a lot more than that.
Babylon 5: The Gathering (1993)
Amazing start to amazing series
This would 6-7 out of 10 if you are watching the first edit of the pilot but the 1998 re edit is better a 8 out of 10 and fits better with rest of the series.
Criminal (2016)
When Kevin Coaster is on form
Kevin Costner on form is something special and they got him on form in this film.
The Mule (2018)
Not what I was expecting but what should have expected
Clint proving his skill only improves with age, the moments his acting is the best is often when says nothing. The story is a good or better than average plot, but then you throw in some Eastwood and you have something special.
Boss Level (2020)
A simple standard sci-fi premise, but with with depth
Honestly not what I expected, a simple well worn sci-fi premise and the cleverly never try full explain that could spolit it, but there moments brilliance outside premise, great comedy action, and even moments that you be hard-pressed to not be moved by, a very combo to pull off, the end you might love or hate but I most certainly loved the way they end it.
The Contract (2006)
Just misses the mark, but not bad film
There are a lot of good actors in this film but they some how manage to make film that feels like better than average straight to VHS/TV as used say film.
Shadow in the Cloud (2020)
Very unusual but entertaining
Do not watch this with any ideas in your head of what you are about to see, only expect something very different, and you should be entertained, but if are expecting anything like almost anything else you like disappointed you did not get what you thought was coming.
Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw (2019)
Just as over the top as it should be
This every bit as over the top as it should be, I wish I had gone seen it in the cinema but I end up watching it on streaming.
I you consider yourself a fan of the OTT series that is fast and furious this well worth at watch you will not be disappointed.
Men in Black: International (2019)
A good movie on it's own merit
This standing on it own is a good film and well worth a watch yes compared to the first three it is not as strong but they were all very special so that does make bad film just the lesser of four good films.
News of the World (2020)
Yes a slow burn but a great one
Helena often steals the show and out acts Tom Hanks, and that's not to say Hanks performance is below par but more to say Helena fingers crossed is a true star of the future in films. Do not expect action film here but more great thoughtful slow-paced western
The Abyss (1989)
James Cameron often missed other master piece
This film in it's original theatrical release is very good, but the special edition edit takes this to highest missed by most films, it has a lot to say about all of us humans
The Beyond (2017)
Great modern slow-paced scifi
This will not be for everyone, but if like me you love slow-paced thinking sci-fi you are likely to love this, if not and your sci-fi needs have action skip this you will not enjoy this
Greenland (2020)
Well made by the numbers disaster flick
This we'll made by the numbers disaster flick, it breaks no new ground, but treads the well worn paths very well and with some good acting it's worth a watch.
Teleios (2017)
Slow burn this one
Slow burn this one but 1/3-1/2 through it comes good
Bounty Killer (2013)
What a surprise
Tank girl meets mad max, I was not expecting much but the highly stylised action and violence worked well, yes you can see it low budget but it does not spoil the film.
Notzilla (2020)
Great film if you want laugh
Go in to this film not expecting it to ever take its self seriously and some times that's just want you want watch people being silly telly a very silly story
Shockwave: Darkside (2014)
Could have been much better with bigger budget
If you ignore the bad special effects fight scenes, it has an interesting premise and not to bad a script, I feel it needed a much bigger budget
