Survive the Raft (2023– )
2/10
Great concept, horrible execution
19 September 2023
I thought I would be alone in coming on here to give this show a not so positive review, but I do join the other reviews and just like the heading, say it was a great idea, but horribly produced.

I admit I have been watching the show in its entirety from start to finish and I don't mind some of the things other people are saying, because these game shows are ALL ABOUT politics and saving oneself via alliances and schemes (think back to Richard on Season 1 of Survivor, the original alliance guy). However, this show is ran by the producers, because each episode builds on how the contestants are steadfast in what they will do at the end of the episode, only to find that we as an audience have been dooped, and they were all in agreement the whole time. Like it was going to be some super clever plot twist that we didn't see coming. BUT it is in Every. Single. Episode.

13 Reasons Why (2017–2020)
7/10
Season 1 YES! Season 2 Eh. Season 3 No No No.

I came here to write a review specifically about the character Ani, but upon seeing previous reviews, there's nothing left to be said. The show apparently needed a voice in the background because Hannah isn't there to do it, so they introduce us to a RANDOM character and make us believe she was included in this very VERY closed off group because...that's exactly how high school works, right? Love the actress, hated the character. This show turned teen detective very quickly, and the main story line is everyone is lying about something, but what clue can us teen detectives find at the end of each episode to bring truth to a lie. Every time.

I DO have to say something about the cinematography and lighting and editing. That was awesome and these poor teams hardly get credit. The seamless transitions to flashbacks worked like, for the lack of a better term, like magic. You watch a character walk away, but in the same shot as the lighting changes see the character emerge again in the flashback. Standing ovation for that. I loved it.

Cars 3 (2017)
6/10
Disney for Dollar Signs
18 June 2017
Cars 1 was a huge hit, and everyone banked on the success of Cars 1 to make Cars 2 a success, but it failed. It was way over kids' head to understand the plot and storyline of Cars 2, but not every movie can be a success, so we give Pixar that one. Cue up to the teaser trailer for Cars 3, it looks like it's going to be AMAZING! Lightning gets in a HUGE wreck, newer and faster cars, what is Lightning McQueen gonna do??? We were all hooked months ago, and Disney and Pixar knew it. Now cue up to opening day for Cars 3 and people are ready to take their entire families to see the movie, one that should rescue the series, at least, that's what I thought.

This movie was so far beyond predictable, that it was at times very boring to watch. I am not one to go to the bathroom during any movie that I go see, especially because I paid to see it, I can hold it, but I found myself getting up in the middle because I just didn't care. I won't give away any of the plot, but it seemed like they wanted to cram so much story in a very short 90 minute family movie.

Here is what I did find and almost got sick of finding, Lightning McQueen changed his paint job about 3 times in the movie, Cruz Ramirez changed her paint job 4 times in the movie, there are MANY new characters in the movie, including the tractors (cows) from Cars 1 that have race car paint jobs at one point in the movie as well. This means, that if your child LOVES Lightning McQueen, and sees the movie and decides that on their next birthday, they want all of the toys from Cars 3 in order to use their imagination and reenact the entire movie, get ready to spend A LOT of money for them to do it, and by the way, most of these new characters were unnecessary to move the plot forward, they were just present for Disney to do their own version of product placement. What a joke.
