Dexter: New Blood: Sins of the Father (2022)
The ending ruined it...Again!
I'm giving this a generous 5/10 because I was still interested to see what's gonna happen till the last few minutes even. Also, I actually liked the episodes leading up to the finale. But oh boy how they butchered the ending! What was the point of reviving the show if they were gonna give us this half-baked, forced, royal mess of a finale? Can't believe they disappointed us...again!
Normal People (2020)
Brilliant yet something felt off
First off, I'm neither an expert on writing reviews nor in relationships. I haven't read the novel the show was based on, so I don't have any backstory of these characters. But as a viewer, Connell and Marianne's relationship almost never felt cohesive or comprehensive.
Maybe it had something to do with the characters' personality disorders. Connell always hid his true self to blend with his peers in his school days. And it was shown in the latter episodes that he was dealing with depression and panic attacks. And we know from the earlier ones that Marianne had her fair-share of dealing with loneliness and had to face the worst kind of treatment from her family. Which in turn makes her vulnerable to people treating her badly.
Maybe those challenges made both of them into different characters on their own but they could always find something when they were together. Altho at times it felt they always lacked a deep conversation - sometimes even a logical one - to keep it sailing. It was like they were trying but not really. And it boiled down to them not having a stable relationship in the end.
There's always that spark that promises. But it doesn't really light up.
Anne (2017)
Scrumptious!
"Fiddlesticks!" is what I muttered when I found out there's not gonna be a fourth season of this stunningly beautiful Canadian series.
Like many, I can only hope it gets renewed.
Between Two Ferns: The Movie (2019)
Bloopers 9/10
The bloopers at the end of the movie(?) are far more hilarious than the movie itself. But to Zach and the team's credit, they tried hard to make a story out of something that seemed quite unfeasible from the start. In the end, it had to go south and it did.
