Incarnate (2016)
Conceptually good, poor writing
I like the concept of this story, but the writing was very teenage boy. I knew males wrote it from the very beginning and it had all of the machismo of a batman movie complete with the main characters deeper than life voice. The cast was pretty good, the acting was decent, the concept was cool, but there were a few cringey parts and it was all around predictable.
Hunt for the Wilderpeople (2016)
Awesome
I was on the fence about watching this, so glad I did! It was so cute and funny. Highly recommend.
The Endless (2017)
Interesting and not stagnant
I really liked how the plot kept moving forward and there were resolutions. It could have been a confusing mess but I thought the execution and story were good.
A Ghost Story (2017)
Could have been half as long
How do you make up for a complete lack of dialogue? Having scenes that are way too long! I have never had to 10 second skip ahead so many times! The dramatic shots were artistic, but the director is shoving it in our faces by making them each up to 3 minutes long. It shows a lack of respect for the audience and arrogance on the party of the director. It was not a total loss, however, as the story was interesting and it had some redeeming qualities. Overall I liked it but I wish each scene was a reasonable length and didn't waste so much if my time.
Another Life (2019)
Yikes! I don't have time for this
I like the concept, but everything is so contrived, the acting is so bad, and there is no way the MILITARY sent these knuckleheads into space, let alone on a serious mission. I have met better behaved and more intelligent 12 year olds. None of this hot mess is believable in the slightest.
The Rite (2011)
Well acted, slightly predictable
I enjoyed this movie, but was able to predict every single plot "twist." Anthony Hopkins was amazing per usual and Colin Odonaghue is easy to watch for sure! Overall it was well made and based on a true story, which makes it more interesting.
