Black Mirror: Beyond the Sea (2023)
Would've been better as a movie.
I'll start this off by saying this is only the second or third episode I've ever watched of Black Mirror.
That being said...
This would've been a great movie. Add another 20-30 minutes, and they could have made the ending significantly better. They could have at least let us in on their mission since it was apparently more important than David slaughtering Cliff's family or the fact that it looks like Cliff did it himself. Maybe I just wanted it to be longer and more clear, but it seemed like too much to pack into an anthology TV show.
Great cast, though. I wish we got more of Rory Culkin as Kappa. It was very cool to see him in that role; it was very Charles Manson-like, which I presume is what they were going for. He played it very well.
Family Guy: Tales of Former Sports Glory (2021)
Back to back good and funny episodes
Funny episode for sure, that binoculars scene was gold alone. Cuba Gooding Jr's? Are y'all just too young for this?
Vivarium (2019)
decent
Coming into this movie I thought there would be more to it but they really kept it rather basic. I feel like they could've went in a lot of different directions but just barely took the plunge.
Still a solid film even though it ultimately goes nowhere. Eisenberg is as solid as ever. Imogen Poots kills it too.
Family Guy: Undergrounded (2020)
Its funny
This one had me laughing pretty much throughout. I think it was one of the better episodes we've gotten in the last few seasons
Hospital Massacre (1981)
A great slasher
This movie does exactly what it sets out to do. I'm surprised to see many reviews on here talking badly about it. It's a very fun movie with awesome kills, and a generous amount of blood. It doesn't take much to figure out who the killer is but that doesn't take away from the film. One of the better slashers from the early 80s, before these movies really took off. If you like slashers then theres no reason you wont like this one!
Family Guy: Throw It Away (2019)
not the worst
I think most of us can agree that season 17 is a low point for the show. not very many bright spots in this season but this episode is one of the better ones.
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning (2006)
not terrible
If you're a fan of the franchise then you'll most likely be in the crowd that is enjoying this movie. for me TCM isn't one of my favorite horror franchises but i accept them for what they are. if you go into this one trying to compare it to the originals then you're just setting yourself up for a disappointment.
this one is decent, but the ending just doesn't add up to me. no way tommy was already in the car before chrissie drove away. to me she was in the clear but seeing as how it's a movie and not real life, unrealistic things are bound to happen. just a very hurried, poor finish to me. but overall the movie does what it's supposed to which is to mainly gross you out. also jordana brewster and diora baird are a plus.
The Innocent Man (2018)
You're Gonna Be Left With Questions...
Like others have stated, it is indeed an important topic and I'm glad they decided to bring these two cases to light. That being said, you're not gonna get all your questions answered by the time it's over.
The first case is more of a complete case, so you get all your answers for the most part from that one. The second case, not so much. There's way more participation from Debbie's family than there is anything about Denice. Which sucks because now you're just left wondering about her and the abduction, murder, etc. The series offers no conclusion to Denice's story and makes you just wonder if it'll ever be rightfully solved. Although, the show seems to focus more on the corruption of the Law Enforcement in Ada, Oklahoma, so maybe it was never intended to shed light on what actually happened to Denice, which again, sucks.
Again, it's certainly an important topic and is most definitely interesting to say the least. It had a great vibe throughout which makes me wish it were longer. But at the same time I wish that it had more info on Denice. But from what I've read her family just wants to have their privacy and move on and they're entitled to that. Just a shame though, really.
The show is definitely worth the watch but you're gonna be left with questions and very little answers.
Evil Genius: The True Story of America's Most Diabolical Bank Heist (2018)
The main thing...
The main thing that really bothered me about this case was all the little things really. How this young girl just turned into this absolute headcase. It's really such a shame. There's still so many questions left unanswered I feel like and now I'm just kind of left dumbfounded since just about everyone involved is dead. There are things still left open to debate and these things will more than likely never be answered or proven undoubtedly. I had never heard of this case until this series came out so now I'm just all over the place about it. It really is the most bizzare case I've ever heard of. And I've dug deep into some of the most heinous acts of crime, mainly about serial killers and such. You've got these 5 people who look like they'd never be capable of something so articulate, structured and clearly well-thought out, with the exception of Rothstein. And for some reason he looked so familiar to me it made it even more frightening. For some reason this case just leaves me feeling hopeless. I don't know if this is the best place to write this but oh well. Honestly, if anyone wants to discuss this if they were left feeling the same way, I'd love to talk about it and see how other people felt.
Stranger Things: Chapter Seven: The Lost Sister (2017)
complete derailment
Lame, lame, lame, lame.
Adds nothing but a useless backstory to Eleven's "sister" and the very beginning of Season 2. It does nothing to improve the series. I'm writing this review as I'm watching it because I honestly couldn't care less.
It pains me to write such a bad review as I've grown extremely fond of this series, but I felt compelled to because the show is much better than this episode makes it out to be. They have derailed with this one. Do yourself a solid and skip it.
Cabin Fever (2002)
Do Yourself a Favor and Watch it.
If you dub yourself a "horror fan" then you have to see this one.
Granted the Director's Cut makes things run smoother than the Theatrical Cut, the film is still solid. From the characters to the plot, everything works.
Joey Kern as Jeff kills it. Giuseppe Andrews as Deputy Winston? Kills it. James DeBello as Burt is great as well, acting in a similar way to his role in "Detroit Rock City". Rider Strong as Paul is probably the weakest out of the actors for me but I can still get behind his performance. Cerina Vincent as Marcy is great and sexy. Jordan Ladd as Karen is the only other weak point I can see. Even the rednecks from the store work.
Everything is how it should be and it's hard for me to try and see anything wrong with it. I just wish it were longer.
The score is amazing and I'm not sure if anyone else noticed where some of them originated from. "Last House on the Left", anyone? Yes, some of the scores are from that 1972 film directed by Wes Craven. Those particular scores are by David A. Hess who stars in "Last House on the Left". It fits perfectly and just adds to the greatness and eeriness of this film. The other sounds and scores throughout the film are great, creepy and just make the movie flow so well.
The vibe, the shots and the scenery in this film are excellent. Cabin Fever is certainly better than a lot of the people on here have made it out to be.
Eli Roth definitely knew what he was doing when he set out to make this film and it was effectively shown. Do yourself a favor and watch it and appreciate it for what it is.
