The Witcher: The End's Beginning (2019)
Painful to watch!
They packed in too much in the first episode.
Too many references and characters were thrown without much background.
I felt lost and the fact that I haven't read the book didn't help the matter either.
Sex and the City: Boy, Girl, Boy, Girl... (2000)
Vulgar display of Homophobia
I'll just say it in a nutshell, this episode was seriously homophobic 😤
This Is Us: The 20's (2017)
Garuda Singh 😍
The character of Garuda Singh was luke a breath of fresh air in this episode,it's nice to see Sikh characters being shown in a positive light in American mainstream.
This Is Us: Memphis (2017)
Best episode ever
This one is a real tearjerker.
I fell in love with William!!!
Sharp Objects: Vanish (2018)
Slow paced😖😖
The pilot episode is too slow paced.Am not sure whether the flashbacks from Camille's (Amy Adams) life serve any purpose later in the series but as of now they just appear to be unnecessary and obnoxious.
The pilot episode is too slow paced that I got bored halfway through and I saw the episode in 3-4 breaks because well... it was boring AF.
Amy Adams performance is the only saving grace,am also interested in the dysfunctional relationship she shares with her mother.
Other than that, there's nothing much to take away from the pilot.
I'll be watching the second episode in the hope that it will pick up some pace.
Big Little Lies: Serious Mothering (2017)
Visual delight
The show really blossoms in it's second episode.
You can't help but get drawn into the lives of the characters in the show.
The background score, the location and the production value really adds to the charm, and did I forget to mention the wonderful job done by the actors, Reese Witherspoon shines throughout the episode, and Shailene Woodley impresses with her measured display of emotions.
Nicole Kidman comes to her own in this episode as we peek further into her life.
Big Little Lies: Somebody's Dead (2017)
Stellar starcast
This television series manages to achieve a casting coup of sorts with Shailene Woodely, Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon in the lead.
Reese Witherspoon (Madeline) talks her way to obnoxiousness halfway through the episode, before I realised that Madeline with all her character flaws is so relatable.
Shailene Woodley does a terrific job.
Nicole Kidman doesn't get her due in the pilot episode, but she does shine with her nuanced acting craft in the bits that are offered to her.
What I really liked about the show was it's production value and the location (gawwd it made me wanna hit the beach)
It was a great pilot.
PS- I used to think that this is HBO's take on Pretty Little Liars, it's kinda similar but you should definitely give it a try,if just for the sandy beaches.
New Girl: Pilot (2011)
Zooey Deschanel and her camera presence
Zooey Deschanel is the best part of the show. Her screen presence is superb.
Am totally digging it, the pilot episode gets a little sluggish in the middle but picks up right at end,and you can't help but fall in love with these characters and the camaraderie they share.
The Big Bang Theory: The Luminous Fish Effect (2007)
How not to handle stereotypes
I love Big Bang Theory, but till this episode Raj's character is simply kept as a comic relief, mostly harbouring on his Indian roots to evoke laughter.
In this particular episode Raj denigerates Indian food and says some Victorian era stuff about Mumbai.
Later in the episode,Sheldon's mom asks Raj whether chicken is one of the animals that they consider magical back in India (it doesn't even make any sense).
The writers can surely do better than using these racial stereotypes for the sake of comic relief.
Disappointed!!!
Sholay (1975)
Overhyped
I remember buying the DVD for this cult classic, but I was hugely disappointed.
The movie is marred by overacting, over the top scenes.
I guess such loud acting was the norm back in the day but personally I wasn't impressed at all given the mountain of expectations this movie comes with.
This is your typical Bollywood "masterpiece", don't expect good cinema, that's all.
Bhaag Milkha Bhaag (2013)
Quintessential Bollywood
A well made movie bogged down by unrealistic and unreasonable sequences, where an Australian girl goes after an unkempt and untidy Milkha Singh.
Coming 4th in Olympics is an achievement in itself, but the makers choose to highlight a India vs Pakistan race as the climax of the movie.
Great concept but too Bollywood in its treatment.
