- One of his last acting credits was narrating a documentary series on cancer, while he himself was dying of brain cancer. He thought of it as a fitting and important final performance.

- In addition to his portrayals of Franklin Delano Roosevelt and narration of documentaries about the 32nd President, Herrmann also appeared in the movie "Richie Rich" with Michael McShane, who appeared on the sitcom 'Seinfeld' as FDR-Franklin Delano Romanowski.
