Get ready for a slo-mo run down the beach: Baywatch is back. Fox is officially rebooting the lifeguard drama, with the production company Fremantle tasked with bringing it back to life. Laura Olsen of Spinning Out will serve as showrunner for the new Baywatch, per Variety. The new logline calls it an “action-packed reboot” about found family. It reads: “Daring ocean rescues, pristine beaches, and iconic red bathing suits are back, along with a whole new generation of Baywatch lifeguards, who navigate complicated, messy personal lives in this action-packed reboot that demonstrates there’s the family you’re born into and the family you find.” The original Baywatch was created by Michael Berk, Douglas Schwartz and Gregory J. Bonann, who will serve as executive producers on this new series along with Olsen. The series is billed as an hour-long drama. See the new key art below. Time to suit up and head back to the beach! Deadline reports that Fremantle is developing a reboot of Baywatch, the classic 90s action drama which starred David Hasselhoff, Pamela Anderson, and more.
It’s still early days as no creatives are attached to the Baywatch reboot, but Fremantle has had early talks with networks and streaming services about the project. Baywatch was created by Michael Berk, Douglas Schwartz and Gregory J. Bonann, and followed a group of lifeguards who patrolled the beaches of LA County. The show was originally produced for NBC but was cancelled after just one season. The producers believed in the series enough that they bought back the rights and produced a syndicated version of the series. The bet paid off big time as Baywatch became one of the most-watched shows in the world and ran for ten more seasons. The show also spawned a spinoff series,...

On the JoBlo Movies YouTube channel, we will be posting one full movie every day of the week, giving viewers the chance to watch them entirely free of charge. Today’s Free Movie of the Day is the horror movie The Bone Box, which marked the feature debut of writer/director Luke Genton – and this really is a textbook first feature.
First-time filmmakers are often advised to make something that takes place in as few locations as possible, ideally just one for most of the running time, and with few characters. There’s no shame in it. A lot of notable directors have gotten their start with movies that follow this advice. Sam Raimi’s The Evil Dead takes place in one location and has very few characters. George A. Romero’s Night of the Living Dead also does, for the most part (he did need a lot of zombie...

Drug smuggling is a topic that has been covered by TV and film over and over. Some of the most well known include Traffic, Blow and Scarface. Emerald Run though does not cover the trafficking of drugs though, it’s the first movie I have seen that covers the trafficking of emeralds. I mention the drug smuggling movie because this by all intents and purposes is exactly that. Except for the fact that the ‘drugs’ are emeralds, everything else hits the same notes as the movies in that sub-genre.
We see a desperate man (David Chokachi) get involved in a plan to smuggle emeralds across the Mexican border. He believes he has no choice and needs the money to save his daughters life.

“Emerald Run” is one of the weirdest hodgepodges to make its way to theater screens and digital platforms in quite some time. Unfortunately, oddness is just about the only thing this muddled little indie has going for it. Despite the game efforts of lead actor David Chokachi and attractive lensing by Dp Michael Caradonna, the film — directed by Eric Etebari from a script credited to Anthony and Mariuccia Caruso — somehow manages to transition from anodyne desert noir thriller to heavy-handed faith-based melodrama without ever generating sufficient interest to be credible or compelling.
Chokachi plays John Thomas, an unemployed family man who’s understandably anxious about his teenage daughter’s medical condition — some hard-to-diagnose disease is making her life a living hell — and increasingly desperate to find a way to cover mounting medical bills. Anna (Yancy Butler), his devoutly Catholic wife, feels frequent mass attendance and some comforting words from their...

Eric Etebari's action drama Emerald Run, formerly known as Walkout, will have a wide theatrical release in the U.S. on February 21st. Magnificat Media Production produced the flick and Avail Entertainment is distributing it worldwide. The list of B-action stars in Emerald Run is a lengthy one. You got Vernon Wells, Michael Pare, Chris Mulkey, and Steven Williams. Then thre is another reason I can always go back to Hard Target, other than the action, other than Jcvd's greasy coiffure, Yancy Butler. Screen Anarchy has been asked to share an exclusive clip with you today. In the clip it appears that John Thomas, played by David Chokachi, has a briefcase that some gun-toting baddies want. When you take a look at David Chokachi, especially in the old red shorts, you’ll probably get the gist that he was a Baywatch actor and you’d be right since he did star on the show for several years and even became a main character after a while. Following that however he ended up becoming someone that was seen in various movies and TV shows that gained a bit of attention but nothing so major as to make him into a household name. Those that worshiped Baywatch might have stuck with him for a while but apart from that it’s

The cast of Baywatch may only be portraying lifeguards on the screen, but in order to make it believable, they practically have to do a crash course on learning how to actually save lives in the water. And that's not easy, people. E! News' Maria Menounos sat down with one of the TV show's OGs David Chokachi, who played Cody Madison, to discuss the upcoming reboot of the sexy beach series that aired in the '90s, and Chokachi shares that newcomer Zac Efron is apparently having some trouble when it comes to conquering Mother Nature's waves. "Alexandra Paul, who is Stephanie on the show, her husband trains triathletes and I know he's training Zac Efron to be ocean competent. Nothing against...

Millions of viewers may be glued to The People v. O.J. Simpson week after week. But for Ron Goldman's close friend David Chokachi, the FX series isn't exactly on the top of his watch list. Although it's been more than two decades since the crime and trial rocked the nation, the Baywatch star chooses to remember his pal's friendship instead of the media circus that followed his death. "We had this little pact of guys. We had just all arrived in L.A. and total idiots or whatever. We all hung around in Brentwood and we were friends with Nicole and we didn't know. We were so naïve and innocent," David shared with E! News' Maria Menounos exclusively. "Ron was a good...

For four glorious years, David Chokachi played blonde hottie lifeguard Cody Madison on "Baywatch" -- famously donning those red shorts and not much else from 1995-1999. The actor romanced both Pam Anderson and Carmen Electra on the series, before starring on the short-lived cult TV series "Witchblade" and a surfing series for The N called "Beyond the Break." It's clear David's love of the waves carries over into his real life, as the 47-year-old star was spotted on the beach over the weekend hitting the surf. Sporting some Hurley surf gear, the father-of-one looked confident as ever (and still pretty damn hot) on his board in Malibu. Chokachi constantly shares beach pics on his Instagram page, including this shirtless shot on the sand. Not too shabby, right? The actor -- who also starred on the VH1 reality show "Confessions of a Teen Idol" in 2009 -- and wife Susan welcomed daughter...

Seth Gordon ("Horrible Bosses," "King of Kong") is negotiations to direct the "Baywatch" movie for :aramount Pictures.
A big screen take on the iconic 1990s television series about California lifeguards, Dwayne Johnson is attached to star in the project which has been in the works for over a decade as the studio has tried to find the right tone for it.

David Chokachi is one "Baywatch" star who hasn't changed much from his lifeguarding days. The 47-year-old hunk stepped out in Beverly Hills, California on Wednesday, looking as buff and fit as ever. The blonde actor, who played Cody Madison from 1995-1999 on the hit series, flaunted his super toned body in a white t-shirt while running some errands. So, how does the former Malibu Beach lifeguard still look exactly like his iconic character from over 16 years ago? "Luckily I've stayed fit and healthy and I've aged pretty well, so I somewhat still look like my character Cody Madison, and it's hilarious," he told Blog Talk Radio in 2013. "I can be anywhere ... in the most random places in the world, and people are like, 'Oh! You're Cody Madison!' It's crazy."In case you needed further proof that the years have been good to David, check out this shirtless Instagram shot of the foxy father!

Wide Management has picked up international sales on Jean Renoir’s 1939 picture The Bitch (La Chienne), which is screening in Cannes Classics this year.
The tale of a humble clerk who falls victim to a prostitute and her violent, scheming pimp, was Renoir’s second sound film.
It recently restored by Les Films du Jeudi - the historic production company of Renoir’s late producer Pierre Braunbreger - and the Cinémathèque Francaise with the support of France’s National Cinema Centre and the DGA and WGA-backed Franco-American Cultural Fund.
“Screening in Cannes Classics gives a masterpiece like La Chienne, which is part of cinema history, a new lease of life and visibility,” said Wide Management’s founding chief, Loic Magneron. “This is a timeless classic that should be seen by new audiences.”

If you're a horror fan anywhere near Worcester, Ma, don't walk, Run to one of the most beloved horror conventions on the East Coast. Of course we're talking about Rock and Shock!
You want celebrity guests? Rock and Shock's got 'em in spades. And some really unique convention celeb guests at that. Like Scott Wilson ("The Walking Dead"), Robert Patrick (Terminator 2: Judgment Day, "The X-Files"), Sharknado director Anthony C. Ferrante and Jason Simmons ("Charmed") making their first ever convention appearances. How about horror icons Robert Englund, Michael Rooker, Gunnar Hansen, Kane Hodder, and Sid Haig; famous horror author Joe Knetter; and Twisted Sister frontman and all-around horror dude Dee Snider? They'll all be there carousing with the fans. One thing many Rock and Shock veterans always comment on is the laid back atmosphere of the festival and how the celebs feel comfortable just milling around with the fans.

Once again this year, Rock and Shock will turn over its main event Saturday night film spot to Woodhaven Production Company, who will deliver the worldwide debut of Army of the Damned with the entire star-studded cast in attendance!
We had a visit to the Army of the Damned set earlier this year (Part 1 and Part 2) and were stunned by the eclectic and diverse cast. Rock band Godsmack's frontman Sully Erna was there as well as horror icons Tony Todd and Michael Berryman, 'N Sync's Joey Fatone, wrestlers Tommy Dreamer, Maria Kanellis and Thea Trinidad, David Chokachi from "Baywatch" and veteran horror star Nick Principe. As fans of horror and entertainment in general, we thought our readers would appreciate meeting these cast members, and now producer Chad A. Verdi is making that a reality at this year's Rock and Shock convention.

Atlantic Rim may be a cheap, DVD imitation of Pacific Rim, but it also works remarkably well as an unofficial prequel, Ryan writes...
History is full of uncanny coincidences. Mark Twain was born on the day Halley's Comet swung by Earth in 1835, and died when it hurtled around again in 1910. The writer Morgan Robertson wrote a book about the sinking of a huge ocean-going liner 14 years before the Titanic collided with an iceberg in 1912. And by an uncanny twist of fate, last month saw the release of Atlantic Rim, which appears to have anticipated Guillermo del Toro's giant-robots-versus-giant-monsters flick Pacific Rim by several weeks.
American film studio The Asylum has a spooky knack of releasing its own similarly-named film just before a major blockbuster. Transmorphers appeared just before Transformers in 2007. I Am Omega appeared at around the time of I Am Legend. Other...

The Asylum, the company that specializes in mockbusters, has got another one in store for the record books. This one is Atlantic Rim, (though it goes without saying) a spoof of Guillermo del Toro’s Pacific Rim. Take a gander at a film destined to be watched in a room filled with smoke and Cheeto’s. It looks great in a delicious B-movie way, with some surprisingly effective FX.
The parody stars Graham Greene, David Chokachi, Anthony “Treach” Criss and Jackie Moore.

The Asylum is the company behind such rip-offs as "Transmorphers" and "Snakes on a Train." It has now unveiled the trailer for its upcoming "Atlantic Rim," which is clearly a rip-off of Guillermo Del Toro's "Pacific Rim" sci-fi film. Check out the trailer below. Plot: When the floor of the Atlantic Ocean rips open, flooding the East Coast with giant monsters, human beings create giant robots to protect the world from these monstrous menaces. The new movie stars Oscar-nominee Graham Greene (Dances with Wolves), David Chokachi ("Baywatch") and Naughty by Nature rapper Anthony "Treach" Criss. It's directed by Jared Cohn (Hold Your Breath) and set for a DVD/Blu-ray and VOD release on July 9th, just three days before "Pacific Rim" hits theaters. Trailer:...

Atlantic Rim may look like lawsuit bait after the last year’s legal woes The Asylum had over their Battleship and Hobbit mockbusters. It better not because it also looks pretty damn cool if you’re like me and believe you can never have enough movies about giant robots battling giant monsters.
Now that I think about it, “to fight monsters we created monsters” could almost be The Asylum’s mantra when it comes to competing all these years in a marketplace dominated by big Hollywood blockbusters.

Producer Chad A. Verdi had already assembled a memorable cast for his current project, Army of the Damned, but the man behind Woodhaven Productions refuses to rest on his laurels.
Verdi has now added former WWE Diva Maria Kanellis and the infamous Jasmine St. Claire to the project.
Everyone has a favorite wrestling diva, but it is this writer's opinion that there has never been a more drop-dead gorgeous creature to enter the squared circle than Maria Kanellis. She is absolutely stunning, and as you can see by the still shot from Army of the Damned below, she's got no trouble getting into the action of a bloody horror film.
Kanellis and St. Claire are added to a very interesting cast. Verdi stated, "We have a very eclectic group of actors on this project: horror legends, rock and pop stars, TV and wrestling superstars, Playboy Playmates and the list goes on.

With Michael Berryman, Sully Erna and Nick Principe already in the cast of their upcoming film, you'd think producer Chad Verdi and Woodhaven Productions would rest on their laurels. But that's far from the case as the team has enlisted Tony Todd for their Army of the Damned.
"Tony Todd is a great actor and a horror legend," Verdi said. "He was the last piece of the puzzle that I felt this film needed to be the blockbuster I know it will be."
Todd will join Berryman, Erna and Principe along with entertainer Joey Fatone and former professional wrestlers Tommy Dreamer and Thea Trinidad as well as David Chokachi, Jackie Moore and Tom Paolino in the Army of the Damned cast. The film will be directed by Tom DeNucci and photographed by cinematographer Sam Eilertsen. You can keep updated on the project by 'liking' Army of the Damned on Facebook.

Amazing the things you can find by complete accident when conducting a Google search. Like a Pensacola, Florida, news site spilling the beans about the cast and crew of the Asylum’s Pacific Rim mockbuster Atlantic Rim/From the Sea shooting in their area.
The reason for the two titles is because the film being reported on is clearly Atlantic Rim, The Asylum’s version of Guillermo Del Toro’s giant robots vs. giant monsters from beneath the sea mega-blockbuster coming this summer they initially announced last summer. Given some of the legal wrangling The Asylum has had to deal with in the year since, it might not be released with such a similar title when the time comes. The tentative working title is From the Sea; safe to say that won’t be the release title. I suppose they could retitle it something like Earth vs. the Giant Monsters,...

Though Fox’s diving show Stars in Danger did a total belly flop in the ratings, that hasn’t swayed ABC from moving ahead with Splash, the (new) name of its celebrity diving show that’ll premiere Tuesday, March 19. Wonder who’s willing to wear a Speedo on a 10-meter high dive in front of (with any luck for ABC) millions and millions of people?

Nicole Eggert was a big star in the "Baywatch" heyday -- but her appearance on the new "What Not to Wear" makes it look like she's still on the A-list.A promo for her episode of the TLC show was just released and it paints a pretty hilarious (and not entirely accurate) picture of Nicole's day-to-day life. While it's true that the paparazzi have taken some less-than-flattering photos of her in the past, the clip makes it seem like they're camped outside hotels all day and night just to snap a pic! Those paps you see above ... we're guessing they're TLC interns. And, as far as we know, "Gossip" magazine isn't a real thing.Ridiculous set-up aside, Eggert really does need some help in the fashion department and we're hoping Stacy London and Clinton Kelly can shake her out of her sweatpants and into some more stylish duds."I gained a little bit of weight,...

Fans have been watching celebrities stepping out of their comfort zone on various competition shows for decades now. But "Stars in Danger: The High Dive" saw them not only have to tackle a difficult sport, but they had to do it in very tight clothing. The special brought together eight celebrities, including the Richards sisters from "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills."
Kim and Kyle tackled the easiest dives, as their biggest challenge was facing Kyle's fear of heights. But for the women, the experience was more about tightening their bond as sisters. It's a good thing, too, as they didn't do very well in the competition at all.
In fact, one of the strongest competitors wasn't supposed to compete at all. When Jennifer "JWoww" Farley was medically unable to dive, her alternate, Alexandra Paul from "Baywatch" stepped in. Paul wound up coming second in both the single and doubles...
