The CW is working on a new take on “Good Christian Bitches,” seven years after ABC’s short-lived adaption titled “Gcb.” A new drama series based on Kim Gatlin’s 2008 book is in the works at the network — and it’s set in a high school, an individual with knowledge of the project tells TheWrap.
Jordon Nardino — creator of The CW’s “Glamorous” pilot, which was not ordered to series — will write and executive produce the show, which is a retooling of the “Good Christian Bitches” reboot that was in development at The CW last season, that one from writer Leila Cohan-Miccio. Darren Star and Aaron Kaplan, who produced the ABC series, are also back on board to executive produce.

Outpouring of Gcb love is breathtaking, I'm reading all your tweets and I am so grateful to you and your appreciation. I am so grateful to all of you. You have made the last few days bearable!"
Her co-star Leslie Bibb also tweeted, "To all u (sic) Gcb fans... thx 4 (thanks for) the (love). Appreciate it & just wait, we'll get 2 (sic) go on a new fun ride somewhere else! Life is perfect."
The campaign has already been backed by one star supporter - Nicole Richie posted, "Ok guys let's figure out who needs to bone who to keep Gcb on the air!"...

Did Carlene finally take down Amanda? We'll never know. ABC has cancelled Gcb after one short season of 10 episodes. There won't be a "second coming" or a second season for this show.
Based on the novel Good Christian Bitches, Gcb follows a former high school mean girl (Leslie Bibb), now a single mom and widow, who returns home to Texas and tries to make amends with the women that she used to torment. The show's ensemble cast also includes Lauran Irion, Colton Shires, Annie Potts, Kristin Chenoweth, David James Elliott, Jennifer Aspen, Brad Beyer, Miriam Shor, Mark Deklin, and Marisol Nichols.
This dramedy debuted to a 2.2 rating in the 18-49 demograpic with 7.56 million viewers. That wasn't a great showing but it was far better than what ABC had been getting with Pan Am earlier in the season.

ABC, as a very general entity, is apparently having good luck releasing TV shows on DVD as quickly as they can, because they certainly aren’t shying away from the idea. It’s been a trend, and if we expand and look at ABC Family shows as well, the notion of getting physical copies into the hands of fans as soon as possible certainly seems to work out. Well, the post-Fall schedule is going to come your way in a hurry as well, and I have to say that I like the idea. Waiting around on these shows could be a mistake, and it’s actually a pretty cool idea to have an option when you’re trying to sell your new favorite show on the uninitiated.
We don’t really have the scoop on the bonus offerings yet, always a question mark when something hits shelves so fast, but...

The ladies from Desperate Housewives prepare to depart to rerun heaven, and ABC has been trying to find just the right show to take over it’s Sunday night throne. Pan Am didn’t quite click with viewers, but the network's mid-season offering Gcb might be having better luck. Gcb's second season hasn’t officially been ordered…yet, but with its campy humor, delicious manipulations and endless amounts of dirty little secrets it seems like a perfect replacement for Housewives.
Of course, it helps that the cast is filled with pros like Kristin Chenoweth (Carlene) and Annie Potts, but also holding her own in one of the juicier storylines on the show is Miriam Shor. Shor’s Cricket Caruth-Reilly may have one of the best looking husbands in town, Blake (Mark Deklin), but the powerful twosome also have the biggest secret: their marriage is a ‘white marriage.’ In other words,...

As Sharon Peacham on Gcb, Jennifer Aspen has been getting the short end of the stick from both her circle of frenemies and her cheating husband, but Jennifer promises things are about to take a turn. The hilarious actress stopped by PopSugar studios in La recently to talk about this Sunday's installment of the ABC series. She told us that as the season goes on, Sharon will take a little revenge on those who have taken advantage of her and confront her husband and her high-school nemesis Amanda. We also chatted with Jennifer about taking a lesson from the Brad Pitt school of acting - Sharon is seen eating in most of her scenes - and her infatuation with costar Kristin Chenoweth. Check out our chat and tune into Gcb this Sunday night at 10/9 Central!

ABC debuted its new comedy Gbc last night, and while we mull over whether to give the show the full Ae recap treatment in the future, let's meet the characters, who run the gamut from catty to ... very catty.
Amanda Vaughn (Leslie Bibb)
Recently widowed (her philandering husband was killed when his car went over a cliff, with his mistress' head in his lap. And she "wasn't giving him directions"), Amanda has returned to her hometown after many years to start over (the fact that all of her possessions were confiscated by the government aids her decision). A former "bitch with teeth" in high school, she was the ultimate mean girl, the head cheerleader who made life hell for the unpopular girls ... who now rule the town.
Carlene Cockburn (Kristin Chenoweth)
The queen of the Good Christian Bitches, Carlene is astonished to see high school nemesis Amanda return. Back in the day,...

Well, Pan Am is gone (and likely cancelled) so ABC is trying another series at 10pm, Gcb. It's the newest TV show that's co-produced by Darren Star, the man best known for creating Melrose Place, Sex and the City, and Beverly Hills, 90210. Will this show find success like those or not last as long as Pan Am did?
Gcb follows a former high-school "Queen Bitch" (Leslie Bibb) named Amanda Vaughn. She's become a widow with two children and she returns to Plano, Texas. Once back in her old hometown, Amanda comes face to face with the former schoolmates that she used to mock. Other castmembers include Jennifer Aspen, Marisol Nichols, Miriam Shor, David James Elliott, Mark Deklin, Brad Beyer, Annie Potts, and Kristin Chenoweth.
Is Gcb worth watching? Well, here's what some of the critics think:

"G.C.B" premiered Sunday night (March 4) on ABC. It tells the story of Amanda Vaughn, who moves back to her mother's Dallas home when her husband is embroiled in a Ponzi scheme scandal and runs his car off a cliff while in flagrante delicto.
But it's not old home week in the 'burbs for Amanda. All the girls she was mean to in high school still live there and now they rule the roost. They may be nice to her face, but they sure aren't making it easy for her - the real estate agent won't show her anything good, the pious one "prays" for her in front of a church full of people, the husband of one of the women comes on to her at his car dealership. As star Leslie Bibb tells Zap2it, she has a lot of fires to put out.
So what did you think of the premiere?...

The series premiere of Gcb proves there's plenty of room on the television landscape for Dallas. After all, everything is bigger in Texas, especially when it comes idiots, apparently.
The comedy starts when Bill Vaughn had the chance to cross the border with billions and a beauty. But he let oral pleasure drop him into the Pacific instead. That's just one of the many theories Gcb uses to establish men as morons, if I'm reading the clues in the new show properly.
Let's face it, there aren't a lot of men in Gcb trying to prove my argument otherwise, but neither are the women doing anything to lend credence to their being the better sex. Ugliness comes out from all sides. The worst part is they pretend it's all done in the name of the Lord. Maybe that's the wrong way to put it. It's not bad that it's done that way,...

Chicago – ABC attempts to pass the sequined, bedazzled baton from one glittery soap comedy to another as “Gcb” (based on the book “Good Christian Bitches” by Kim Gatlin) premieres tonight as a clear successor to the soon-to-end “Desperate Housewives.” Even more over-the-top than the girls of “Dh” were to start (even Marc Cherry would have said an opening scene involving road head leading to a fatal car crash was a bit much), “Gcb” feels like later seasons of the ABC hit when it went from critical darling to guilty pleasure. You’re going to feel Real guilty watching this one.

"G.C.B." is the newest comedy from ABC, which chronicles high school mean girl Amanda Vaughn's (Leslie Bibb) moving back to Dallas and in with her mother in the wake of her husband's ponzi scheme scandal. Marisol Nichols plays Heather Cruz, one of the girls Amanda was mean to in high school and like her co-star Jennifer Aspen, Marisol tells Zap2it that Amanda has it coming.
"Yeah, I do [think Amanda has it coming]. I think they're really enjoying her downfall ... now that being said, the whole point is they're supposed to forgive. You're supposed to grow up, you're supposed to grow out of this," says Nichols.
And her character Heather is definitely the quickest to forgive.
"Out of all of them, she's the nicest. I like to think she's the sanest out of all of them. The most grounded," says Nichols. "But then she still has moments where she gets caught up...

It's hard to say what's most irritating about "Gcb" (10 p.m. Est Sunday, ABC) aside from that dumb title.
It could be the fact that the show is chock-full of predictable stereotypes, such as: Texans like big hair, short skirts and big jewels; no matter what age they are, women are catty beyotches to each other; if a person is Southern and religious, well, of course they must be a cartoonish hypocrite, etc. It could be the fact that "Gcb" seems to have as much contempt for its characters as most of the characters have for each other. It could be the vaguely creepy story lines in which characters calmly discuss the breast augmentations of their teen daughters or in which the heroine of the story fights to keep the the costumes skimpy at the wings-and-beer joint where she works (of course it's a bar called Boobylicious).

Jennifer Aspen is one of the stars of ABC's newest primetime show "G.C.B." She plays Sharon Peacham, a woman who has yo-yo'd with her weight her whole life and who is none too pleased to see Amanda Vaughn (Leslie Bibb) back in town, as Sharon's husband might be carrying a bit of a torch for Amanda.
"I was super hot in high school," Aspen tells Zap2it, of her character Sharon. "I was a cheerleader and [husband Zach] was a star football player. He was drafted by the cowboys and then an injury sidelined him. Sharon's never worked a day in her life, which comes into play as the rest of the series goes on."
Another thing that comes into play is a bit of a misunderstanding in the pilot involving Zach and Amanda.

"Gcb" is the latest dramedy from ABC. It stars Leslie Bibb as Amanda Vaughn, the head Mean Girl in her Dallas high school who has now returned to her hometown in the wake of a personal tragedy, only to find that the girls she was mean to in high school are not quick to welcome her home.
We've seen the pilot and we absolutely adored it, which star Bibb was delighted to hear when we interviewed her.
"I know it sounds goofy and I shouldn't care what people think. But I do on this one, I really do," says Bibb. "I love this show, I'm so proud of it. I hate having expectations on it, I try not to, but I really love this show. I really sunk my heart and soul into this one and I'm really proud of it. I hope America likes it."

Kristin Chenoweth gets to sing, stir the pot and more on Gcb
She may be small in stature, but one of the reasons it’s hard not to love Kristin Chenoweth is because she’s such a powerhouse when it comes to anything she does. Whether she’s acting, singing, vamping on a talk show or standing up for gay rights, Chenoweth does it all with equal parts passion and conviction. And now she’s back on our televisions on a weekly basis with the premiere of ABC’s Gcb.
Created by Robert Harling (who brought us Steel Magnolias, Soapdish and The First Wives Club) and Executive Produced by Sex And The City creator Darren Star, the series takes a comedic look at life in the South, namely Dallas, and Chenoweth chews up the scenery as meddlesome diva Carlene Cockburn (yes, Cockburn), who goes on the defensive when her high...
