Let’s just be honest: being scared isn’t fun. At least, not for everyone. So entering Halloween — aka “spooky season” — can be pretty hard, especially when it comes to finding movies to watch. Well, it’s a good thing you’re here.
Because the thing is, Halloween movies are a core piece of celebrating the holiday. You get together with friends, you break into the candy early, turn off all the lights and get cozy for the night. But if you’re a big ol’ scaredy cat (like this writer is more than secure enough to admit she is), those nights are significantly harder.
So, we went ahead and rounded up 13 of the best Halloween movies that you’ll be guaranteed to still get a good, nightmare-free sleep after.

Hollywood has its fair share of famous twin actors who have shared the glitz, glamor, and fame that come with being in the spotlight. However, not all twin-born actors chose to enjoy fame together, like Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen or Tia and Tamera Mowry. While one sibling graces the silver screen and basks in the limelight, the other often leads a life far from the public eye, away from the flashbulbs and red carpets. These non-famous twins share bloodlines and often striking physical resemblances with their famous counterparts. However, they’ve chosen paths far removed from Hollywood, opting for careers and...

Combining Irish music, charisma, and a ghost's unfinished business made it feel like Fall.
Many ghosts have unfinished business. It's a well-known trope in murder mysteries, and Haunted Harmony Mysteries: Murder in G Major expanded on it with detailed characters and picturesque Irish charm.
I was as captivated by the Irish scenery and music as I was trying to solve the mystery, and I love murder mysteries.
Tamera Mowry-Housley was delightful as the lead character, a former orchestra conductor Gethsemane Brown. She's easily charmed by Ireland and the tales surrounding Orla and Eamon's deaths, but she insists that ghosts don't bother her.
She tries to blow off her first encounter with the ghost Eamon McCarthy as a coincidence or a hallucination because if she actually saw him, there might be something wrong with her. Her dad saw visions, and they all pretended he didn't.
The film never covered any of Gethsemane's other family,...

Flowers are lovely, but what Sister Sister star Tamera Mowry-Housley really wants for Mother’s Day is a cleaning gadget that will make her life a little easier.
In April, Mowry-Housley shamelessly admitted that her “toxic trait” was “having 10 things on my to-do list, but putting them all off just to clean.” She shared on Instagram, “Cleaning is therapeutic to me. And brings clarity. I know I can’t be alone in this. I just can’t help it!”

So when Tamera Mowry-Housley sat down for a Mother’s Day chat with Showbiz Cheat Sheet, she said that a sweet cleaning tool, like a fabulous vacuum cleaner, might be the perfect gift.
She set the scene for cleaning therapy too. “I like everyone to leave the house when I clean. I don’t want anyone in the way. Once I’m done, then everyone can come in.

Tia Mowry and Tamera Mowry-Housley turned "The Little Mermaid" world premiere into a mother-daughter date night. The famous sisters brought their daughters - 5-year-old Cairo Tiahna Hardrict and 7-year-old Ariah Talea Housley, respectively - to the star-studded event in Hollywood on May 8, marking the foursome's first time walking the red carpet together. They each dressed on theme for the occasion; Mowry paired a white t-shirt with a floral sequin miniskirt, Cairo looked adorable in a sparkly unicorn dress and denim jacket, Mowry-Housley chose a blue ombré gown, and Ariah subtly matched her cousin in a light purple tulle dress.
Before heading to the premiere, Mowry shared an Instagram Stories video with Cairo explaining how much it means to watch Halle Bailey be the main star of the live-action Disney remake. "This is so special to us because it's all about representation. You get to see a little mermaid that looks like you,...

Fans of The Real watched Jeannie Mai and Jeezy’s love story. But some had reservations about their romance due to Mai’s past controversial statements about interracial dating. As a cultural critic and activist for Black civil and social rights, Amanda Seales had her own thoughts about Mai’s comments. Seales, who is also considered overly critical at times by some, didn’t take much offense to Mai’s remarks for a specific reason.

The show has stood the test of time, gaining new fans thanks to becoming available on streaming platforms, and airing in syndication. Sheryl Lee Ralph, Gina Prince-Bythewood and Others Honored at Essence Black Women in Hollywood Event
The 16th annual Essence Black Women in Hollywood event welcomed a constellation of stars — working both in front of and behind the camera — to the Fairmont Century Plaza in Los Angeles on Thursday afternoon. The luncheon honored Danielle Deadwyler (Till), Dominique Thorne (Black Panther: Wakanda Forever), Tara Duncan (president of Freeform and Onyx Collective), Gina Prince-Bythewood (The Woman King) and Sheryl Lee Ralph (Abbott Elementary).
Hosted by actor Boris Kodjoe, the event italicized the contributions Black women have made in film and television — particularly this year, but also across eras and generations. Essence magazine’s existence as a platform for Black representation since 1970 found kinship with Hollywood, an industry of images. At the event, many attendees acknowledged how the forward-thinking vision of Essence‘s founders is akin to the work Black creatives in entertainment are doing presently.

It’s hard to believe that classic sitcom Sister, Sister was once on the chopping block. It could have easily fizzled out when the show got axed by ABC after two seasons in 1995. The comedy that launched the careers of Tia and Tamera Mowry started in the Tgif lineup before being shuffled along. A new network called The WB would save the series. Execs saw something in the story of twins separated at birth and reunited after 14 years alongside their adoptive parents Lisa Landry (Jackée Harry) and Ray Campbell (Tim Reid). Now Tamera Mowry-Housley, who these days is married with children of her own, remembers how daunting it felt as a teenager starring on the show. The comedy went on to have 119 episodes over the course of six seasons. Not to mention multiple Kids’ Choice and NAACP Image Awards. ©Paramount Television/Courtesy Everett Collection “I feel so honored and blessed to have had that opportunity,...

Hallmark Christmas movies remain as cozy as ever, with tree-lighting, cookie-decorating and magical snowfall still the currency of the realm. But since the arrival of Wonya Lucas as the new CEO of Hallmark Media (formerly Crown Media) in 2020, the network’s offerings have branched out in many ways: Lots more diversity, of course — including, this year, Hallmark’s first holiday romance centered on a same-sex relationship and the network’s first film focused on Kwanzaa — but also new and different plots.
The memes show no sign of dying, but the movies themselves don’t always match the traditional roadmap. Two of this year’s new movies didn’t end with a kiss, a change previously unthinkable in Hallmark-land.
How do I know all this? Because I watched all 43 new 2022 Hallmark holiday movies (including the three that premiered in July on Hallmark Channel and the nine that premiered on Hallmark Movies...

Tamera Mowry-Housley would love to give “Sister, Sister” fans the revival they’ve been calling for, but it has to be the right idea.
During an appearance on “The Jennifer Hudson Show”, the actress shared that she and her twin sister, Tia Mowry, have been approached with pitches to reprise their roles, but nothing has been right for them.
“Here’s the thing, Tia and I are both just booked, which is a great problem to have,” the actress began when asked whether something was in the works. “The other thing is, we have to make sure the idea is amazing because ‘Sister, Sister’ is iconic! I don’t want it to be lame.”
When Hudson stated that any revival with the sisters involved wouldn’t be lame, Tamera revealed that the duo has already heard some ideas and “it was not it — it wasn’t right.”
But there’s still hope!

No one wants to believe Tia and Tamera Mowry will be 44 in 2022. They can’t be, considering they’re still 16 and just found out they were twins when they were shopping at the mall with their adoptive mom and dad. Both are single and living a single-parent life, but they have the plan to move in together so the twins can be together and live the rest of their childhood together. They were so rudely robbed of that as kids when the adoption agency adopted them out separately, you know. Sorry, we are thinking of Tia and Tamera Mowry

Two pivotal pop culture debuts changed this mixed-race millennial. The first was in 1990, when a fresh-faced Mariah Carey sang "Vision of Love" on "MTV Unplugged." And the second came in a newspaper ad about a brand-new show featuring twins separated at birth: "Sister, Sister."
Once "twin-damonium" hit ABC, I was stirring in my Blossom hat, flannel button-down, and baggy jeans. Tamera and Tia Mowry were bubbly brown girls with a hit TV show filled with hijinks and heart - and they had curls like me! Since then, I've felt a bond with the two, as their careers took them from "Sister, Sister" to "Twitches," Tia Mowry-Hardrict to "The Game," and Tamera Mowry-Housley to an Emmy-winning turn on "The Real."
And it's with that same familiarity that I devoured Mowry-Housley's new memoir, "You Should Sit Down For This: A Memoir About Life, Wine, and Cookies." In a way only she can,...

Amazon Studios is merging its Prime Video and Freevee unscripted teams under the oversight of reality TV vet Chris Castallo. Having previously focused on Prime Video fare, Castallo will now oversee unscripted for both outlets and report to Lauren Anderson, who was recently named head of AVOD original content and programming at Amazon Studios.
The move comes following a restructure inside Amazon’s ad-supported video on demand service. Earlier this month, Ryan Pirozzi was named head of Freevee, overseeing the business side of the streaming service, while Anderson was given oversight for programming, which includes development, production, licensing, scheduling, research and strategy for Freevee and Prime Video’s ad-supported Fast linear channels. Anderson and Pirozzi had formerly served as co-heads of content and programming for Amazon Freevee (the ad-supported video on demand service that had been known as IMDb TV).
Castallo previously reported to Marc Resteghini, the US/Global Head of Development at Amazon Studios.

Hulu unveiled the upcoming release dates for its fall schedule including the return of favorite originals The Great and Animaniacs, as well as freshman series Dopesick, from Empire’s Danny Strong.
First up is the eight-episode limited series Dopesick— based on Beth Macy’s bestselling book— which gives viewers an ambitious, harrowing, and compelling look into the epicenter of America’s struggle with opioid addiction. It stars Michael Keaton, Ray McKinnon, Rosario Dawson, and Peter Sarsgaard, among others. It premieres on Oct. 13.
Season 2 of the period dramedy The Great will be released on Nov. 19. with Gillian Anderson joining the cast as Catherine’s (Elle Fanning) mother, Joana. And Hulu is teasing a tumultuous season as Catherine finally takes the Russian throne for her own — but if she thought coup-ing her husband was difficult, it’s nothing compared to the realities of “liberating” a country that doesn’t want to be.
