Akshay Kumar’s Khiladi Box Office Ranked. (Photo Credit – Youtube)
One might not have noticed, but Akshay Kumar owns the biggest franchise in Hindi Cinema. The Khiladi franchise has as many as 8 films. Interestingly, except for two, all of them have done exceedingly well, earning a hit tag for themselves. All of these 8 films are standalone films.
Akshay starred in the first Khiladi film in 1992, which was his first successful action film. In fact, the name Khiladi Kumar was coined for the actor since he never looked back after the first film’s success.
All the Khiladi films belong to the action genre, and Akshay Kumar was the first action superstar of the 90s. The only film in the Khiladi franchise that was not action-dominated was Mr. & Mrs. Khiladi, which belonged to the comedy genre.

Bhakshak (Netflix)
Starring Bhumi Pednekar, Sanjay Mishra, Aditya Srivastava, Sai Tamhankar
Directed by Pulkit
From its prologue where a young girl is brutalized and then left to die, to its closing monologue where investigative journalist Vaishali Singh looks straight into the camera and asks us if we have lost all compassion… Bhakshak resonates with the corruption and brutality of our times.
Bhakshak is set in a hell-house camouflaged as a shelter home in Munnawarnagar, a thinly veiled reference to the shocking gruesome crime in Muzaffarpur that had shaken the nation’s collective conscience in 2018. But what did we do? Did we go beyond out tsk-tsks in our living rooms?
Pulkit’s film does much more than make polite noises. It is a film of smothered shrieks and chilling recriminations. It is partly a true-crime thriller that Costa-Gavras would approve of, and partly a severe docu-dramatized condemnation of our socio-political reality...

We have many films and television shows that have had male or female actors play the role of a trans man or a trans woman, and in most cases, they have aced it. The notable ones are Sadashiv Amrapurkar in Sadak, Vijay Sethupathi in Super Deluxe, Kalidas Jayaram in Paava Kadhaigal, and Kubra Sait in Sacred Games. We have never had anyone tell the story of a prominent transgender activist who has faced severe hardships and managed to help the downtrodden. We are talking about Shreegauri Sawant, a prominent figure who fought for the rights of transgender community in India. Keeping her story in mind, writer Kshitij Patwardhan, director Ravi Jadhav, and creators Arjun Singgh Baran and Kartik D Nishandar give the audience Taali, a six-episode mini-series about her life. The question remains: Was Taali a good attempt to showcase her struggle?
Taali revolves around Shreegauri Sawant, originally born Ganesh Sawant...

Gadar 2
Never mind the 200 toffee-nosed critics who will tell you that this film is crass, outdated, loud, etc etc … Gadar 2 is the best extraction thriller I’ve seen in ages. Sunny Deol is a far more convincing extractioner than Chris Hemsworth.
When Deol roars, you know he means business. And the Pakistani villains in this monstrously over-the-top drama get Tara Singh (is he the brother of Dara Singh?) really mad when they take his son a prisoner.
If you know Sunny Deol, and if you have seen Gadar: Ek Prem Katha (and who hasn’t!) you would know you can’t mess with Tara Singh without getting a blow on your head from the handpump.
Deol , for my money, is the best action hero in India and no Pathan or Tiger can replace him. As a loving husband (to Ameesha Patel who acts as though she is genie...

Spoiler Alert for those who have not seen the film “Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui.”
Bollywood A-lister Ayushmann Khurrana headlines the cast of transgender-themed romance “Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui,” which is currently on release worldwide.
Across Indian cinema as a whole, trans characters have been portrayed sensitively as leads of films like “Daayra” (1996) “Tamanna” (1998), “Just Another Love Story” (2010), “Nanu Avanalla Avalu” (2015), “Njan Marykutty” (2018) and “Super Deluxe” (2019). However their representation in mainstream commercial Bollywood cinema veers between villainous characters, like Sadashiv Amrapurkar’s Maharani in “Sadak” (1991), and crude comedy parts. “Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui” is unique in that it brings a trans character to the fore in Bollywood.
Khurrana plays Manvinder Munjal, a macho gym instructor in the northern Indian city of Chandigarh, who is smitten with Maanvi Brar, a Zumba teacher who shares his work space. They consummate their relationship and decide to get married when Maanvi reveals that she used to be a...

Sadak 2 (Disney-Hotstar)
Starring Sanjay Dutt, Alia Bhatt, Aditya Roy Kapur
Directed by Mahesh Bhatt
Believe it or not, Gulshan Grover in a walk-on part which he must have accepted for old times’ sake, plays a villain named Haathkatta. Because, get this, one of his hands has been severed.
Subtlety is certainly not one of the strong points of this belated sequel to a 1991 film that was ripped off from Martin Scorcese’s Taxi Driver. This Sadak swerves off the highway in no time at all. It is shocking that a script so shoddy and inane would be allowed to serve as a comeback to direction for Mahesh Bhatt, and that too to direct his star-daughter Alia Bhatt.
Both deserve better. So does Sanjay Dutt. So do we.
Sadak 2 is the kind of debilitating disappointment that Indian cinema suffers when the biggest of talents get together to deliver a certifiable dud.

Sadak 2 comes with a throwback whiff, though not a happy one. It reminds you of a lot of the kitsch that summed up Hindi commercial cinema once upon a time, which you thought had left the Bollywood screen for good.
Mahesh Bhatt returns to direction after over two decades with this film and we're not sure if that accounts for its dated, faded vibes. What one can be sure of is the fact that netizens who have been aggressively trolling the film and calling for its boycott, needn't have bothered. Bhatt's new film is so weak that chances are you will doze off long before the halfway mark.
The film is billed as an action drama that unfolds as a road trip, so you have three people in an SUV driving up mountain terrain. Any resemblance to very basic SUV advertising on TV might not be coincidental. Those bits...

Bollywood woke up today to a sad news. The talented actor Sadashiv Amrapurkar is no more. Sadashiv Amrapurkar, who was being treated for lung infection at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital since the last few days, passed away early morning today. Born and brought up in a Marathi Brahmin family, he was fondly called as 'Tatya' by his loved ones. While he was best known for his path breaking roles in films like Sadak and Ardh Satya, he was equally known for his light heated and villainous roles in films like Aankhen, Ishq, Coolie No 1, Gupt: The Hidden Truth to name a few. Bollywood residents took to twitter to express their condolence for this great actor. While Anupam Kher tweeted, "I am so saddened to know about the demise of a fine human being & a wonderful actor Sadashiv Amrapurkar. He was a kind & a learned man. It's a real sad thing to know that the man who entertained everyone all his life in films (Hindi and Marathi) like Ardh Satya, Kaal Chakra, Sadak, Ishq ... to name a few, is a critical condition now, even as you read this article. Speaking exclusively to Bollywood Hungama, his daughter Reema Amrapurkar said, "My father had been admitted him 2 weeks ago for the treatment of a lung infection. Since the water problem in Maharashtra is becoming so sensitive that anyone 'spending' water is bound to come under the radar. Just a few days back, we had reported as to how the veteran actor Sadashiv Amrapurkar had become the victim of his neighbors' ire because he had reported about water wastage. The latest in the spotlight w.r.t. water usage is none other than Srk's film Chennai Express. News has it that the irrigation department of the state has asked for a report from the concerned officials about the water usage (that was used during the film's shoot) from the Dhom dam in Satara. The local villagers argued that not just was the water extracted from the dam, but also a garden was set up for shooting and its maintenance has been straining the valuable resource. Talking about the issue, Pradip Patil (Executive Engineer- Dhom Dam) said that...

Sadashiv Amrapurkar, who is best known for his villainous roles in movies, faced the wrath of the residents from his neighboring society yesterday because he had informed a news channel about a 'rain dance' event that was happening in the Panchvati building. Apparently, while the show was scheduled for Wednesday evening, he had informed the channel on Wednesday morning. Post that, the news team reached the location. Talking about the incident, Amrapurkar said that as a part of the DJ and rain dance, the society had wasted so much water since 9.30am. He also alleged that a few inebriated people from the neighboring not just assaulted the news cameraman and took away his cassette, but abused and assaulted him as well. Pran Kishan Sikand
Pran Kishan Sikand dreamt of becoming a professional photographer. Little did he know that a measly, humble ‘paan’ (betel leaf) would change his life and set him on his destined path. It was 1939 or thereabouts. Pran was at a ‘paan’ shop at Lahore, enjoying a munch with his friends when a stranger approached him and asked whether he wanted to act in films. Pran was amused and asked his name. Stranger introduced himself as Muhammad Walli, a renowned film maker in the flourishing film district of Lahore. He said he was making a Punjabi film and Pran looked a perfect fit for the role of a villain in the film. Pran just brushed him off. Walli kept insisting that he pay a visit to the studio, and pushed a piece of paper with his address into Pran’s hands. The film was Yamla Jat (1940), a runaway hit that year.
