Despite her role in the upcoming flick, Ortega isn’t a huge fan of rom-coms herself.
The “Wednesday” star tells the magazine, “I hate being goo- goo gaga over a boy. I think it’s secretly a pride thing.
“It’s a problem with a lot of female characters, that a lot of them are guy-oriented or what they’re expressing or emoting is based on a guy’s position and a guy’s story.”

Jenna Ortega reacts to Neve Campbell not returning to “Scream” for the first time for the upcoming sixth instalment in a new interview with Elle’s April 2023 issue.
Ortega, who plays Tara Carpenter in the flick, says of Campbell choosing to walk away from the franchise due to a disagreement over pay: “It was really unfortunate.”

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has a bill ready for signature that would stop social media companies from permanently kicking people off their platforms in the state.
The bill was passed Thursday by the Florida House 77-38 in favor of the bill, the Senate, 23-17. It makes it a crime to remove state political candidates from social media sites like YouTube, Twitter and Facebook.
Doing so would subject the companies to fines of $250,000 per day for statewide candidates. Local candidate removal would merit a fine of $25,000 per day.
The Florida bill may serve as a prototype for other states that will force the courts into a new evaluation of free speech on social media.
Under the Florida bill, seven days notice is required, warning users that they are about to be banned, offering them time to correct any issues. Suspensions of up to 14 days would still be allowed.

Beloved British author Zadie Smith has already seen one of her novels — the lauded 2000 offering “White Teeth” — turned into a television version, and now her “Nw” is getting similar treatment. The 2012 Women’s Prize for Fiction nominee will soon hit BBC Two as a 90-minute telepic that weaves together the stories of four childhood friends who are all struggling to overcome their past as they make their way through adulthood.
The story’s four protagonists — Leah Hanwell, Natalie (née Keisha) Blake, Felix Cooper and Nathan Bogle — all grew up together in North-West London (the “Nw” of the title) on the fictional Caldwell council estate, and have endeavored (in some very different ways) to break free of the world they first knew. While Natalie (Nikki Amuka-Bird) has managed to turn herself into a wealthy, successful barrister, her childhood pal Leah (Phoebe Fox) still struggles with both money and ambition. Chance encounters rule in the story,...
