From Justice League Dark and The Batman to Lobo and Man Of Steel 2 - the DC movies that await a greenlight...
Big spoilers lie ahead for Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice
Whichever side of the imaginary rivalry you fall into, there's no denying that when it comes to movies, DC has got some catching up to do. In the same year as Marvel Studios released their first major crossover, The Avengers, Warner Bros released The Dark Knight Rises, the final chapter in Christopher Nolan's acclaimed Batman trilogy, which was firmly grounded in the notion that Bruce Wayne is the world's only superhero.
Nolan's disinterest in the larger DC toybox left Warners a few steps behind Disney and Marvel, especially after the failure of 2010's Jonah Hex and 2011's Green Lantern, the latter of which was intended as the first step into a wider universe.

Although there haven't been any major updates on "Fables" since last month, long-time "Fables" artist Mark Buckingham has expressed his expert opinion on what absolutely needs to be in the film. "I think if it doesn't have Snow White and Bigby [Wolf] in it, then... [that's a problem]," Buckingham explained in an interview with io9. "They were such a core element of the first 50 issues of the story. So I think their romance, their relationship, is a really core aspect of the series."
Not much else is known about the "Fables" movie thus far, besides the fact that it will be directed by Nikolaj Arcel ("A Royal Affair"), written by Jeremy Slater (2015's "Fantastic Four Reboot"), and produced by David Heyman and Jeffrey Clifford (the "Harry Potter" series). "Fables" marks the fifth Vertigo title to be adapted for film, right after "Hellblazer," "A History of Violence," "Stardust," and "V for Vendetta.

DC Comics’ Fables is headed to the big screen, for real this time.
Way back in the olden days of 2004 Warner Bros tried to get something going with Jim Henson’s company, but it didn’t even get to the writing stage.
Now it looks to be moving forward with Nikolaj Arcel (A Royal Affair) directing and Jeremy Slater on scripting duty. Harry Potter guys David Heyman and Jeffrey Clifford are producing,
Here’s a quick synopsis of the comic, which was created by Bill Willingham in 2002:
“The series deals with various characters from fairy tales and folklore – referring to themselves as ‘Fables’ – who have been forced out of their Homelands by ‘The Adversary’ who has conquered the realm. The Fables have traveled to our world and formed a clandestine community in New York City known as Fabletown. Fables who are unable to blend in with human society (such...

J.G. Ballard's The Drowned World novel is set for a bigscreen adaptation via Warner Bros. and Heydey Films' David Heyman and Jeffrey Clifford. Deadline reports that the deal landed just after the book celebrated it's 50th anniversary. Set in the year 2145 where the polar ice caps have melted, Europe's now covered in jungle and Lond is mostly submerged under water. The story follows a biologist, who, in most cases would have a great view from the 35th floor of a skyscraper, unfortunately, only two of those floors are above water, leaving him battling creatures and the environment.

Warner Bros. is reportedly developing a new adaptation of one of the greatest works of classic literature, Homer’s The Odyssey with a sci-fi spin.
Therefore, the studio recently hired a young screenwriter James Dilapo to pen a sci-fi version of the story with the hope of launching a new franchise as well. Dilapo recently earned a spot on the 2012 Black List for his screenplay Devil’s At Play.
The Odyssey, in part, a sequel to the Iliad is the second half of Homer’s epic poem about the Trojan War. The journey of Odysseus from Troy to Ithaca takes ten years — the same amount of time that the Trojan War itself lasted.
The film was first announced back in 2008 and Brad Pitt was originally attached to star with George Miller (Mad Max) attached as director. The one of two major ancient Greek epic poems would actually work great as...

DreamWorks is reportedly in the process of acquiring The Light Between Oceans, a mystery novel by M.L. Stedman. With only the infant alive, the couple raises her as their own, but later face dire consequences. David Heyman and Jeffrey Clifford are set to produce.
Heyman, who produced the Harry Potter series, has this to say about the story:

It may seem hard to believe, but it's been almost a decade now since we've seen any Looney Tunes characters on the big screen in a feature film of their own. This is largely due to the failure of Joe Dante's movie Looney Tunes: Back in Action, which made only $21 million in the U.S. back in 2003. Since then, Warner Brothers has been slowly trying to revive the property, recently launching a brand new animated series called The Looney Tunes Show and attaching a handful of CG animated shorts to Warner Brothers family films in theatres (ie. Yogi Bear, Happy Feet Two, Journey 2: The Mysterious Island). Now it appears they are starting development on a brand new Looney Tunes movie, but they may have their work cut out for them if they want to avoid another flop. According to THR, Warner Brothers has hired comedian Jenny Slate to...

Former SNL cast member Jenny Slate is set to pen the script for a combination live-action/CG animated "Looney Tunes" movie at Warner Bros. Pictures says Heat Vision.
Warners had big success in 1996 with "Space Jam" which mixed basketball legend Michael Jordan with the traditionally animated characters that fall under the Looney Tunes banner such as Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Porky Pig, Wile E. Coyote and more.
Seven years later came "Looney Tunes: Back in Action" which got decent reviews but flopped hard at the box-office. Details of this incarnation's storyline are being kept under wraps.
David Katzenberg, Seth Grahame-Smith, David Heyman and Jeffrey Clifford will produce.

The 300 prequel, which up until recently was called 300: Battle of Artemisia, will now be dumbed further down and from this point on will be known as 300: Rise of an Empire. I’m guessing the simpler title was designed for the American audience; their depth and breadth of history study being limited to the last 50 or 70 years.

If you can adapt Charlotte Brontë to a rapturous critical response, any other adaptation can’t be much of a hurdle. That at least seems to be the thinking on Summit’s part, seeing as they’ve hired Jane Eyre scribe Moira Buffini for their own literary adaptation, The Night Circus. [THR]
Based on Erin Morgenstern‘s recent hit of a novel, Night Circus follows “two young illusionists battling out their fathers’ age-old rivalry amidst an enchanted circus, bound by a fated love, and destined to affect the lives of all around them.” Reading that little summary, you’d be none too surprised to hear that Harry Potter producer David Heyman is, along with Jeff Clifford, throwing in his support for the studio.
Buffini‘s work on Jane Eyre showed a great knack for condensing the kind of dense, lengthy material that any English major knows like the back of their hand.

Seth Grahame-Smith is one of the hot writers in Hollywood these days. He grabbed the public zeitgeist by penning the novel Pride, Prejudice and Zombies first before going on to write Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, a historical what if tale that imagined the 19th century President as a vampire hunter. Then Grahame-Smith made the segway into working in showbiz by performing a rewrite of Tim Burton's Dark Shadows script, selling the comedy show The Hard Times of Rj Berger to MTV and writing the screenplay for the upcoming Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter movie coming out next year.
Grahame-Smith's next book is titled Unholy Night, and like the Abraham novel it takes a world famous historical figure and reimagines the story behind the birth of the baby Jesus Christ.
The story centers on who we know in The Bible as the Three Wise Men, the trio that witnessed the birth...

[1] Lionsgate's adaptation of Seth Grahame-Smith's novel Pride & Prejudice & Zombies is still struggling mightily [2] to get off the ground, and Fox's Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, based on another Grahame-Smith book, won't be out til next year, but that's apparently not deterring the writer's fans in Hollywood. Warner Bros. has just acquired the screen rights to Grahame-Smith's forthcoming Unholy Night, in an impressive deal said to cost about $2 million. Grahame-Smith is set to pen the adaptation himself, with David Katzenberg, David Heyman, and Jeffrey Clifford producing. More details after the jump. Like Grahame-Smith's previous books, Unholy Night (which is due out in April 10 from Grand Central Publishing) is a revisionist take on a well-known tale. The novel reimagines the Nativity story as an action/adventure centered around the Three Wise Men, who in Grahame-Smith's take are actually notorious thieves on the run after escaping Herod's prison. Though the trio are initially...
