One-hit-wonders are an unusual thing. There are endless examples of artists that create something monumental that blasts its way into the pop culture zeitgeist and temporarily enchants and captures our attention. Then as quickly as they came, they seem to disappear. That is the idea behind 1996’s That Thing You Do! Written, directed by, and starring Tom Hanks as Mr. White- a big-time record producer who’s just discovered his next big talent- a small-town Pennsylvania rock n’ roll band with the potential to be the next big thing.
Now this movie was released in 1996 (as was a former entry into our own The Best Movie You Never Saw) and was Tom Hanks’ writing and directorial debut. Honestly, this is quite the freshman effort from the talented showman. The movie centers around The Wonders (formely the One-Ders), a local band that is struggling to find a good drummer before...

When people think of Jim Gillespie’s I Know What You Did Last Summer, they usually consider it a solid slasher. It certainly had an engaging lead cast—Jennifer Love Hewitt, Freddie Prinze Jr., Sarah Michelle Gellar, and Ryan Phillippe—and a script from Scream creator himself, Kevin Williamson. It even spawned an Amazon Prime spinoff series and is being featured as part of a “High School Horror” category on the Criterion Channel.
But that’s not the film this article is about. This is about the 1998 sequel that has a less positive reputation: Danny Cannon’s I Still Know What You Did Last Summer, which brought back Hewitt and Prinze Jr., but not Gillespie and Williamson. A lot of people tend to think of it as a lesser follow-up that is best left forgotten.

The Color of Money is a movie of 1986 directed by Martin Scorsese. It is a continuation of The Hustler (1961), by Robert Rossen. Starring Paul Newman and Tom Cruise.
When Mr. Scorsese was not as acclaimed (yet), he did this movie which was a bit of a “filler”, which has become one of the reference movies about American pool.
Story line of The Color of Money The Color of Money (1986)
Eddie Felson, an old pool player, reappears as a whiskey merchant when he meets Vince, an outstanding pool player. Together they embark on a father-son type of voyage of discovery.
The Movie. Review
This is not Scorsese´s best movie, it is not even a somewhat personal movie, it is just another movie in his filmography that rests on some video-clip moments (cool music and lots of changes of shots in a very “Eighties” style). The movie resorts to all sorts of commercial formulas,...

Welcome to this week’s Ring Of Honor review, right here on Nerdly. I’m Nathan Favel and we have more from Free Enterprise, because it’s too difficult to tape a new two hour card and split it between two weeks’ worth of one hour shows. Bill Cobbs could kick Sylvester Stallone’s ass and we’re getting right to the action.

Horus, one-third of the Roh World Six-Man Tag Team Champions, scored some near falls, but in the end the massive King hit a Gonzo Bomb to score an impressive win.

"I've got a feeling this guy is not going to rest, until he gets justice for his son..." Cinedigm has released a second trailer for action crime thriller Beyond the Law, the latest from horror producer / director James Cullen Bressack. Steven Seagal, Dmx, and Johnny Messner star in this action-packed thriller about a man's quest for justice in a corrupt city. When a former detective learns of the murder of his estranged son, he ventures back to the darkened streets he once knew so well. Armed, dangerous and with nothing to lose, he must take on the ruthless local mob in his mission for revenge. Also starring Zack Ward and Chester Rushing, plus Bill Cobbs as a rough yet compassion friend of the reformed cop. This looks like one of the most bland, forgettable action films this year. But if you want to see it, this is already available on VOD now.

Sometimes if you want something done right, you need to empty a ton of guns into a ton of people yourself. At least, if you’re the ex-cop gunning for revenge against the people who killed his son in the gleefully violent action thriller “Beyond the Law.” And ahead of the film’s day and date release later this week, you can see the glorious carnage for yourself in the new redband trailer, available exclusively at the top of the page.
From director James Cullen Bressack, “Beyond the Law” stars Johnny Messner as that ex-cop, who gets dragged back into his old life after his son is murdered. With nothing to lose, he mixes it up with the city’s lowlifes and crosses paths with a veteran detective (Dmx) also determined to uncover the truth. It’s hard to tell good from evil in “Beyond the Law,” but in the brutal first trailer — released ahead of its upcoming day and date release — Johnny Messner and Dmx are determined to figure it out. Despite, of course, the violence meted out by a host of thugs — and Steven Seagal’s trademark wrist-snap. Watch the new trailer, and a lot of brutal beatdowns, exclusively above.
From director James Cullen Bressack, “Beyond the Law” stars Messner as an ex-cop dragged back into his old life after his estranged son is murdered. With nothing to lose, he searches for answers among the city’s most corrupt and dangerous people and crosses paths with a veteran detective (Dmx) also determined to uncover the truth. But as their investigations drag them deeper into the criminal underworld, the come up against the local mob, and a mysterious criminal enforcer (Seagal).
“Beyond the Law” opens theatrically Dec.

This Past Weekend:
Another bad weekend where nothing really popped, which is bad news for a month at the box office where only Clint Eastwood’s Sully exceeded any expectations. Tim Burton’s new film Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children came out just below my predictions with $29 million, but the Mark Wahlberg-Peter Berg disaster flick Deepwater Horizon was right around where I predicted with $20.2 million. The comedy Masterminds tanked with just $6.5 million for the weekend to end up in sixth place while Disney’s The Queen of Katwe did slightly better than predicted with $2.5 million.

The first full weekend in October has a good deal of competition from the release of the video game Mafia III to the...

With more than a billion dollars in the bank already from the first two instalments, Night at the Museum 3 is set to bring the franchise to a close at the end of the year.
Officially titled Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb, the film will bring its ensemble cast to London for its final outing, and it will break from the past formula to go beyond the museum walls, starting out in the American Museum of Natural History before taking in Trafalgar Square and the streets of London.
It may still be summer, but Christmas is going to come around before you know it, and Fox has launched a great first trailer and teaser poster for the family-friendly adventure comedy.

This time around, night security guard Larry Daley (Ben Stiller) brings his motley crew of living exhibits to the British Museum in London when Ahkmenrah’s (Rami Malek) Golden Tablet begins to decay, threatening to end the magic that brings the exhibits to life each night. My only real recollection of Mickey Rooney is him as the highly offensive neighbor Mr. Yunioshi in Breakfast at Tiffany's. Today, following the actor's death on Sunday at the age of 93, many are remembering roles of his from the '50s, '60s and even earlier. Rooney was the recipient of two Honorary Oscars in 1939 and again in 1983 and starred in films including The Bridges at Toko-Ri (1954), It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World (1963), The Black Stallion (1979) and National Velvet (1944) and it wasn't as if he hadn't been working recently, though the roles weren't starring roles. He had a small role in 2011's The Muppets, played one of the security guards opposite Bill Cobbs in Night at the Museum and, according to IMDb, he was at work on a couple films up to his passing. There's no immediate information on the cause of death, but it seems as if Rooney died of natural causes.
