Kim Kardashian West was robbed at gun point on Sunday in Paris — but instead of sending her well-wishes, many fans mocked the incident on Twitter and claimed it was some sort of “publicity stunt.” Terrible news! It seems Kim Kardashian was tied up, held at gunpoint and robbed. Unfortunately, she's alive and well. — Glenn Davis (@GlennD71) October 3, 2016 @KimKardashian held at gunpoint is this real or publicity stunt you never can tell these days. — Darren-John Northall (@DAZrazzle85) October 3, 2016 Kardashian West was tied up by armed robbers, locked in a bathroom and had over $10...

Charles Barkley has never been a stranger to controversy, and Thursday night was no exception. During TNT's NBA halftime show, "Inside the NBA," the former basketball legend cracked a joke that caused many to take notice due to its reference to slavery.
When co-host Kenny Smith asked him to name his favorite president, Barkley gave an interesting, if not slightly awkward, answer.
"I love President Obama, but Abe Lincoln is my new favorite president," Barkley said. "You know why? Because if it weren't for him, we'd be calling Ernie 'boss.'"
Barkley was referring to co-host Ernie Johnson, the only white anchor on the panel, which also includes Smith and Shaquille O'Neal. The joke elicited laughter from both Smith and Shaq, while Johnson tried to change the subject, only to have the Big Aristotle revert back to calling him "boss."

Another supernatural drama about twenty-somethings is coming to The CW, according to Hollywood Reporter, and they’re hoping for it to be “another Buffy The Vampire Slayer.”
The show will be based on Embrace, the book by Jessica Shirvington about a woman named Violet Eden who discovers that she’s half angel and the key to a centuries-old war between fallen angels and their earthly protectors.
Bill Laurin and Glenn Davis will write as well as executive produce along with Amblin Television’s Justin Falvey and Darryl Frank.
Does this story premise remind anyone of that video game The Longest Journey? …Great game by the way.

Embrace, Jessica Shirvington’s recently published opening novel in a young-adult book series hailed as a potential successor to Twilight, is headed to television. The CW has teamed with Steven Spielberg‘s Amblin Television to adapt the book as a drama series eyed for next season. Spielberg is reverting to the Amblin TV moniker he once used on ER. Since the 1994 launch of DreamWorks, his TV series had been produced under the DreamWorks TV banner. Now some existing series, like Smash and Falling Skies, will remain DreamWorks TV-branded, while others, like Borgias, Americans and Embrace, will be under the Amblin TV banner. It looks like The Walking Dead will be your only source for televised zombie fare. The CW looked at the variety of pilots it had on the slab for the 2011-2012 season. And while it accepted Kevin Williamson's new show Secret Circle (go figure), the network passed on Awakening . The show was going to star Lucy Griffiths, Titus Welliver and Brian Hallisay and told of two sisters who were at odds with one another during a zombie apocalypse. William Laurin and Glenn Davis created the proposed show. So, there you have it, the CW loves its vampires, witches and Winchester brothers. But not zombies.

Part three is here. Now I'll have to think of something else to write about. I kid. Not a lot has changed since the last two columns, where we talked about some of the pilots in production. Casting of the pilots has begun, and one notable development was the casting of "Touch." Kiefer Sutherland of "24" fame has been cast as the father. The downside of that casting is the pilot won't be shot until late May/early June, due to Sutherland's current commitments. That does give them more time to find a good actor for the son. In this series, success or failure will rest on the actor hired to play the son. Awakening "Awakening" (The CW), written by William Laurin and Glenn Davis, centers on two sisters who come of age and face off against one another amidst the beginning of a ...

It’s pilot season in the Us. The time of year where the networks finance and film the best (well, most marketable) pilot scripts that grabbed their attention, with the hope of a few being strong enough to warrant a series commitment for 2011/12.
Many will be so heinous they’ll never air; some will impress execs enough that they’ll go to series, only to be axed amidst low ratings; a handful may be lucky enough to last a whole season on-air; and a few may even be popular with audiences and justify a second season. Well, you never know!
Below is a list of 20 pilots that have my interest right now, based solely on their premise or the talent involved. Obviously, it’s unfair to judge these pilots before we’ve seen them, but this is intended to be a quick overview of the positive and negative buzz surrounding them right now.

Los Angeles -- Jokers liked to call her Mrs. Hilton Wilding Todd Fisher Burton Burton Warner Fortensky. Indeed, Elizabeth Taylor was prolific as a bride.
"I think I ended up being the scarlet woman partly because of my rather puritanical upbringing and beliefs," she once said. "I couldn't just have a romance; it had to be marriage."
Her husbands were a hotel chain heir, an English actor, a flamboyant producer, a pop crooner, a Welsh actor (twice), a U.S. senator and a construction worker.
Her romances over the years included a football legend, a billionaire publisher and a Mexican lawyer.
Taylor's love life probably received more public notice than any figure in history, including Cleopatra (whom she portrayed) and Casanova.

The CW got on the board today with its first pilot orders this season. The network has picked up 4 drama pilots, including Awakening, the spec script the CW bought just last week. CW entertainment president Dawn Ostroff had made launching medical, legal and cop franchises on the network a priority and her pilot picks reflect that. Three of the 4 pilots are procedurals - one medical (Hart of Dixie), which comes from Gossip Girl co-creators Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, one police drama (Cooper and Stone), and one legal (Heavenly), which has supernatural elements. Additionally, zombie drama Awakening has a legal drama element, as the central character is a public defender. Here are descriptions of the 4 CW pilots: Awakening, written on spec by William Laurin & Glenn Davis, centers on two sisters who come of age and face off against one another amidst the beginning of a zombie uprising. Zombies may be invading the CW. The network has recently bought a spec script called Awakening about “two sisters who come of age and face off against one another amidst the beginning of a zombie uprising.” The script was written by Canadian writer-producers William Laurin and Glenn Davis (The Listener) and is in consideration for a pilot pickup for fall. Early speculation is that this new series could be like The Vampire Diaries meets HBO’s The Walking Dead.
Over at NBC, David Greenwalt’s (Buffy, Angel) newest project, Grimm, has been greenlit with Jim Kouf (Ghost Whisperer, Angel) co-writing the script with Greenwalt. These two are joined in the executive producer circle by Sean Hayes and Todd Milliner (Hot in Cleveland).Grimm is described as “a fantastical cop drama about a world in which characters inspired by Grimm’s Fairy Tales exist.”
So, what do you think of these new projects?...

It had to happen. The popular and critical success of AMC's The Walking Dead — which is quite possibly the best thing to happen to the zombie genre since, well, forever — has already spawned an imitator.
Last Friday the CW announced that it had made a speculative buy of Awakening, a zombie survival drama focusing on two young sisters from the Canadian writing team of William Laurin and Glenn Davis (The Listener), reports Deadline. Howard T. Owens (Master Chef, The Biggest Loser), Carolyn Bernstein and Todd Cohen have also been announced as producers.
Such a buy doesn't guarantee anything, of course, other than giving the network the option to develop the project further.
A zombie series would give The CW some additional street cred in the horror genre, assuming that the idea is fresh and original. The zombie craze is in high gear right now (in Hollywood, nothing exceeds like excess…...

The walking dead are potentially set to invade the CW again, as network officials have purchased the script for the zombie drama series ‘Awakening,’ Deadline.com is reporting. While the CW hasn’t officially signed the project, officials do have a potential pilot idea. Canadian writers-producers William Laurin and Glenn Davis are the creative forces behind ‘Awakening.’ The series will follow two sisters who are not only fighting each other, but zombies as well in the midst of their recent uprising. Laurin and Davis’ originally brought their script to Reveille Productions. But if the CW does order the series, Warner Bros. TV will be co-producing with the independent television studio. Laurin and Davis, along [...]...

Aaron Sorkin is moving back into television with a pilot about the cable news business at HBO.
Sorkin, currently an Oscar nominee for his screenplay for "The Social Network," has been researching a show about cable news for a while and reportedly spent time with Keith Olbermann and Chris Matthews at MSNBC, as well as at Fox News and CNN. The show has a pilot order from HBO, with Sorkin and Scott Rudin executive producing, Deadline reports.
Backstage drama is old hat for Sorkin: Two of the three previous series he created, "Sports Night" and "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip," were set at TV shows. The new project will probably also be at least partly about the political arena Sorkin dealt with on "The West Wing." The pilot will film later this year.
In other pilot news:
The CW already has vampires and demons on its schedule, and now it's going after zombies.

After The Walking Dead was met with universal appraise, we all knew that 2011 would be a slew of horror related series that would attempt to be in tone with the AMC hit. The CW announced that they purchased a late second spec script, and who could guess what it’s based on…
Given the fact that they have purchased this so late, and that they only have one pilot, a drama/comedy called Danni Lowinski, it’s to be expected that this is indeed to become a pilot for the channel. Written by William Laurin and Glenn Davis, Awakening follows two sisters who come of age and face off against one another amidst the beginning of a zombie uprising.
Sounds like it come be entertaining; however, I fear it could also easily try to get the best of both worlds, by reaching out to The Walking Dead fans, and Twilight fans,...

The CW hopes to rock its ratings out of a slumber with a new script purchase.
According to Deadline Hollywood, the network has purchased the rights to Awakening, a new drama from Canadian writer/producers William Laurin and Glenn Davis.
The site describes the drama, which may premiere this fall, as the story of "two sisters who come of age and face off against one another amidst the beginning of a zombie uprising."
So... sort of The Walking Dead meets The Vampire Diaries? We'd totally watch that! How about you?...

I look forward to the day when all TV shows feature the backdrop of a zombie apocalypse. Enter 'Awakening', a new zombie-drama picked up by the CW. According to Deadline, it's 'like The Walking Dead for young females. Awakening, a zombie drama from Canadian writer-producers William Laurin and Glenn Davis (The Listener) centers on two sisters who come of age and face off against one another amidst the beginning of a zombie uprising'. It's not certain that a pilot will actually surface, but it is likely. What say you, room for one more zombie themed TV show on the CW?...

While a Warrior Princess goes head to head with The Thing on ABC, The CW has begun to mix an 'alluring' cocktail of teen angst with a dash of zombie menace.
TVLine reports that Lucy Lawless (Xena: Warrior Princess, Spartacus: Blood and Sand) has landed a role on the ABC dramedy No Ordinary Family, which should take her character to the end of the season. Her role, which hasn't been given a name yet, will be a possible adversary for the Powell family, the newbie superheroes of the show. Whether Lawless will be a nuisance to their 'ordinary' life or their 'no ordinary' life is still up in the air, but who else is better to go face to face with Michael Chiklis and Julie Benz than one of the baddest women on TV?
Lawless's appearance on the show will consist of "at least five episodes," according to TVLine, but...

Given the success of "The Walking Dead", it was only a matter of time before other networks jumped on the flesh-eating bandwagon. Enter The CW and its new show "Awakening".
According to Deadline the network just made a late spec script purchase with "Awakening", a zombie drama described as "The Walking Dead" for young females, from Canadian writer-producers William Laurin and Glenn Davis (The Listener). Going after a spec so late in the game usually means that the network has a potential pilot order in mind, but for now The CW is not going that far with "Awakening", which centers on two sisters who come of age and face off against one another amidst the beginning of a zombie uprising.
Before you all start going on about the whole "young female" thing, remember "Supernatural" was kind of pitched that way, too, and it delivers some of TV's best horror each week.

With AMC's "The Walking Dead" scoring acclaim and ratings, The CW is trying to cash in on the genre and has begun development on the hour-long drama series "Awakening" reports TV Guide.
The story follows two sisters who face off against one another just as a zombie uprising begins. William Laurin and Glenn Davis ("The Listener," "Missing") penned the script.
Warner Bros. TV is also onboard the project and the network will decide in the coming days if they want to order a pilot.

It used to be I would go out of my way to avoid the CW network, the same way some people avoid that creepy old house down the block, or that creepy old uncle who likes to make you sit in his lap on the Holidays. Not so much nowadays. The network’s got a couple of shows that I watch regularly — “Supernatural” and “Nikita”. Every now and then I will tune into “Smallville” just to get a good laugh. Honestly, that show is just so campy and badly acted/written, it’s hilarious. All that is to say, I might have to add a third show to my CW viewing schedule, now that the network known for its teen-friendly shows about teens (played 20/30-something actors, natch) has made a last-minute pick-up of a new zombie drama called “Awakening” from Canadian writers William Laurin and Glenn Davis, the same people...

Zombies, the latest in primetime TV fashion.
The brain-eating living dead are now shambling their way over to The CW, which is developing a script for The Awakening, about two sisters who face off against each other just as the zombie apocalypse kicks in.
The project is written by William Laurin and Glenn Davis (The Listener) and comes on the heels of NBC developing Zombies vs. Vampires (which, of course, follows the success of AMC’s The Walking Dead — I know, October can’t come soon enough!).

It's like The Walking Dead for young females. The CW is yet to make its first in-cycle pilot order this season, but the network just made a late spec script purchase with Awakening, a zombie drama from Canadian writer-producers William Laurin and Glenn Davis (The Listener). Going after a spec so late in the game usually means that the network has a potential pilot order in mind, but for now, the CW is not going that far with Awakening, which centers on two sisters who come of age and face off against one another amidst the beginning of a zombie uprising. Laurin and Davis' script was first taken to Reveille which came on board to produce. Now that it has landed at the CW, it is being laid off at Warner Bros. TV, which will co-produce with Reveille. Laurin, Davis, Howard T. Owens, Carolyn Bernstein and Todd Cohen are executive producing the project.

In a last minute bid, the network purchased the rights to a coming of age tale set in the worst of circumstances. Riding the wave of zombie and vampire popularity comes another television drama with a supernatural background. Written and produced by William Laurin and Glenn Davis (CTV's The Listener), the story follows two sisters who clash during the beginnings of a zombie apocalypse. This marks a continuing love affair with the extraordinary and undead. Since its time as the WB, the CW has brought fans Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Charmed, Supernatural, and the more recent Vampire Diaries. With this season being its last, the network will be clamoring to find a suitable replacement for its hit sci-fi/superhero series Smallville. The pairing of brain eaters with intense drama has...

In Awakening , from William Laurin and Glenn Davis, a zombie apocalypse serves as the backdrop for two sisters who go head-to-head. That's the gist of the CW's potential new series. The network behind The Vampire Diaries and Supernatural just picked up the script and Deadline says Awakening could possibly be ordered up for a pilot, however, nothing is certain right now. Interesting that the CW is now tackling zombies, especially in the wake of The Walking Dead 's success. But will the network be so lenient on the zombie violence as AMC has?...
